A Fail Scout (Grid's POV)

It's me Grid, Grid Hawkeye. Sh*t I never thought this kind of things will happen. I thought the mission we accepted is an opportunity for us. But we almost get killed and I almost lose my friend

Two days ago.

After we separate from Rudeus, we run through the Swamp Area without stopping. Me and miss Velma kill everything which block our path. Rudeus give us free time to escape ourselves so we can't lose this chance

"Don't stop. We must get back to the City when we still have time" I shout to all of them

We run like crazy. I kept looking at my back too see that if Rudeus follow us already. I kept prying in my mind that he will be ok.

We arrive at the City gate. Even though like that I still kept running. I need to report and make a quest to save my friend Rudeus.

At the Academy I told the instructor everything. I make a request to save my friends

"Instructor please. We must save him before it's too late" said me hastily

"Yes, I understand. But you need to recover first. I raise the rescue mission difficulty and put a mission to search for him. I will contact the adventure guild too" said the Instructor

"Thank you." (Grid)

I know that my condition is not good enough to take the mission, but I must do wherever I can. So I visit Darvan immediately.

"Hey, Grid. Is something wrong ?" (Darvan)

"Darvan you must help. Please search for Rudeus and save him" (Grid)

"What ? What are you talking about ?" said Darvan shockingly

I told him what happen when we take the mission.

"Damn.. how can this be happen ? Alright then I will go right now. You need rest Grid. Your condition is not good." (Darvan)

"Yeah, thank you" (Grid)

After I told Darvan everything I back to my own room to rest and healed my injuries. Seems like Darvan make party and already search for Rudeus. I hope they can find him.

I wait so many hours but still no news. I know I need rest my body and mind but I can't help it. I want to hear the news.

It's almost evening and still no news. I walk out from my room and search Darvan. Maybe he already back.

I found him that he just get back from search. He come to me and said "Sorry Grid, we can't find him. There is a few battle trace but nothing we can find. It's almost night so we just got back" said Darvan with a sorry voice

"Sh*t. How can this happen. I must search for him now before it's too late" I said with an angry voice

"Stop Grid, you can't do it with your condition. It will just make it worse. How about this. You need to rest first and early in the morning we will go again" said Darvan to stop me

"Hmm.." I just keep silent and don't know what should I do

"Look, Rudeus has a body battle skill. He do that because he know that he can survive. I believe he already got out from monster chasing. We just need to find him. So I need you to have in your best condition" said Darvan again

"Alright then. I will rest now" I know what he said is right so I can only give up now

"Good. let's meet in the morning" (Darvan)

In the morning, I get up and pack up everything I need.

"I must find him" I thought

When I walk out from my room I found that Darvan is already waiting for me and also two other people too, senior Dion and miss Velma.

"You guys ?" (Grid)

"Let's search for him Grid, after all he save our life" (Dion)

"Ok, alright let's go" (Grid)

All of us enter the Swamp Wet Area.

"There. We found some of battle trace yesterday. But there is so many monster in this place so the trace is already gone. What's worse this place is wet so it easier to lose the trace. We found some trace too in Swamp Valley." said Darvan

"Ok, let search around here first. Don't move too far each other so we can back up if something happen" (Grid)

"Ok" Three of them nod at the same

After a few moment we can't find anything. The most thing that I found is, seems like many monster fighting each other.

"Nothing in here Grid. How about we go to Swamp Valley." shout Darvan

"Ok then. Let's go to the Valley" (Grid)

We search many times but we can't find anything. We search the area, we even kill a few monster beast that block our way but nothing is found. it's almost evening so we must go back now. This place is not a good place to make a camp.

"We found nothing. We must end our search here, it's almost night time" said miss Velma

I know what miss Velma said is right but I reluctantly go back. I thought we must find him now

"Grid, what miss Velma said is right. We can not stay in here. Let's search again tomorrow" said Darvan

I look at him and said "Yeah, alright let's go back now"

I almost can't sleep tonight. But I know if I want to search for him I need to rest my body and sleep. In the end I just force my body to sleep.

Early in the morning, all four of us begin our search again. Not only us, a few of student seems like to take the mission too.

We arrive in yesterday place. We even meet a few adventure and they share what they found. But in the end nothing come out of it.

In the afternoon, many of student and adventure are already back, we pass the wet area. I stopped for a moment and look toward a far place.

Seems like Darvan see it and then he said "Grid, we can't go there. You should know right how dangerous that place is. Even rank 9 beast can die in that place. We can't go there Grid"

Both of senior Dion and miss Velma seems to look at me too

"I know. I'm just wondering about it. Well let's go back now." I said

Soon we left the area but my head keep looking at that far place.

Inside my room I begin to think that maybe he will go that way. So I decide that I will try to look in that place tomorrow. But for that I need more supply. I will borrow merit point from a few people and I will pay it when the time comes. I begin to sleep

I wake up quite late. After all Darvan and other is almost give up on search so I will just make my own preparation. I know I can not go today cause I lack so many supply so I keep trying to borrow some of merit point from other.

It's afternoon already. I don't know why but I walk towards Student Mission Area. Maybe I hope I get some news about him, but I don't know.

"Well, let's just buy some supply then. I already borrow some of merit point." I thought

When I enter the Student Mission Area I stopped from a moment and panic. Just I keep looking around, my eyes suddenly look toward the mission board. It's gone. The search mission is gone.

I'm panic and I don't know what to do. Then I spot that counter is empty. I must talk to that person. Maybe he knows something.

"Hello mr Glenn" said me respectfully

"Oh, hello there student" said mr Glenn

"Mr Glenn I want to ask you about something. Why the search mission is gone ? Do you know something ?" I ask him nervously

"Oh that, yes. Well that student is already back actually. He just here a few hours ago. It seems like an adventure party found him and the guild called the Academy to confirm it" (Glenn)

"Really ? He is back ?" I raise my voice but I'm happy inside

"Yeah, well he look quite tattered and he need rest." (Glenn)

"I see. That's good then. Thank you mr Glenn" I said it hastily

"Welcome" (Glenn)

After I heard what mr Glenn said I run towards his room. But just as I want to knock his door, I remember what mr Glenn said 'He need rest'. So I stop my hand and just stare at door.

After a few moment I left but I swore something in my head "Next time I won't let something like this happen. I almost lose my friend. I fail as a scout. Damn it..!!"

Then I just back to my own room
