The First Mage On Earth

After the disappointing first day of high school, Oscar fell into some weird cave. What he found at the cave changed his life forever. He discovered the mana! With the discovery of mana, everything around him changed. While he was learning magic, he noticed that the world around him isn't as simple as it seems. From an immature and inexperienced high school boy, he will rise to become the legendary figure in history books. He will face the darkness of humanity and the enemies who are beyond humans. This is the new version of my previous story which has the same name. The story will be slow-paced. There isn't much action in the first chapters. Everything in this story is fictional. The names of the people and institutions made up by me.

Welcome Back

"There is an unusual amount of Aether in the water. And somehow it was able to mix with mana leaked from my cocoon. Somehow my cocoon ended up inside of that lake. And it caused this weird phenomenon. But this still doesn't explain the Aether inside of it. That's what you told me about the lake, right?"

"Yeah. I never thought that this was the reason for it."

Kairi and I were looking at... a huge crystal that has a person inside. This person... or creature, clearly wasn't a human. She had huge butterfly wings on her back. She seemed to be frozen inside that crystal. She had a nice purple dress made of flower leaves. Don't get me wrong. Those leaves should be at least two meters or a meter long. They can't belong to any plant in this world. Aside from her wings she and her pointy ears she looks just like a human.

How did we find this? We followed the shiny green liquid and like twenty meters deep we found this. As for how was able to this shiny liquid could get twenty meters above, it was mixing in to another water source. A hot water source to be exact. There was a complicated natural water system under the cave. With this shiny green liquid's effect water was actually slowly floating upwards.

"This green liquid must be her blood or something equivalent to it. As for what she is... I don't know. She is not a spirit I'm sure of it. She gives a feeling different from spirits. It's like she is some kind of higher being."

"Higher being? I don't know about that but her appearance... it reminds me of fairies."

"A fairy?"

"Yeah. In pop culture, there are some similar descriptions of fairies. Big butterfly wings and pointy ears. Well, spirits may have similar appearances but you said that she wasn't a spirit."

"Yeah. I'm sure that she isn't a spirit. But a fairy... I don't know for sure but it seems to be something related to this in my memories. I just can't seem to remember it fully. I'll have to look into it."

Well, it's not for sure but she just looks like a fairy. After spirits, humans with powers and the clan members who have extraordinary power now this time fairies. The world is getting crazier every passing day. I once thought that this world was just an ordinary world.

A fairy... I'll just push it to the back of my mind. Until Kairi figures out more I will pretend that I didn't actually find this crystal. Well, setting up some defensive formations in here would be good. I need to put some into the cave too. Especially formations to keep these places secret. The cave itself is close to the surface only about fifteen meters below it. I don't want anyone to accidentally discover the cave or the entrances I made.

"Hey, this 'green blood', is it safe to consume? I mean liquid mana is safe to consume and it even increases my mana capacity and its denseness. But this is a much more potent version of it. Would it be safe?"

"...I wouldn't recommend it. Your body isn't even adjusted my spirit mana and this green blood has much more potent mana in it. You might not get hurt after using my mana but your body can't accommodate it. So consuming this green blood would cause overflowing of mana in your body and the excess mana can burn your body."

"...scary. Well, too bad then. I'll have to do with the liquid mana. The more powerful I get the fewer effects it has on me. Right now it has barely increased my mana capacity and its denseness but soon it won't have any effect."

No more decent boost than. I'll have to increase my mana capacity by both putting a burden on it by spending my mana and letting it adapt to it thus slowly increasing my mana capacity. Or improving and if possible evolving my own body thus gaining an overall increase in every aspect of my body. Well, evolution is just a theory, an idea at this point. Also, there is the thing with spirit mana and the possible fusion with Kairi.

Fusion is an interesting thought but that's not looking possible. As for the spirit mana... Its denseness was on another level. Its power was also leagues ahead of my own. Can I somehow increase my mana's denseness to that level? I can compress it to make it denser but it would only be a temporary solution. But if I can somehow evolve my aether organ, it could possibly affect my mana perhaps increase in volume or the increase in denseness. Both of them are something I would want but I don't really know how to evolve my aether organ.

Right now Mason has an aether organ in its forming state. I observe it regularly but there isn't much difference so it isn't helping. Maybe I can evolve it by absorbing huge amounts of aether. Kairi said that she didn't know anyone who could directly use aether but turns out there are thousands of people who can use aether. I should ask Izumi to teach me how to use aether properly.

Kairi and I left the cave of the crystal and went back to the cave. Kairi was going to her clan's space and look inside her library to find something about the fairy-looking creature, urgh. Fairy looking lady would be better, I guess. Anyway, I was a bit distracted but I'm going to finish remodeling the cave by applying formations to make sure the defenses were good and we had enough privacy.

"Mason is awake!"

Both Kairi and I turned in the direction of the voice. It was Charlotte's voice. We immediately went to the new infirmary to see what was going on. I thought that he would still be in a coma for a few days more. Since we were in the main hall we quickly arrived at the infirmary. Izumi, Charlotte, and Akane were already in there and they were standing around the Mason.

Mason was sitting on the bed I previously brought in. He was laying on that bed when he was in a coma. As for where did I get it, my grandpa had three safe houses in the Daxhoull alone. Turns out I was rich as the lone heir of the Hex Clan. Anyway, back to the topic. He was sitting and rubbing his eyes like he was just woken up from his sleep.

"When did he wake up?"

"Just now. We were just sitting and he suddenly start moving his hand and then woke up."

"Did he say anything after waking up?"

"Nope. It took just a couple of seconds since he woke up and you guys arrived."

"I see."

While Mason was still rubbing his eyes I talked with Izumi. She filled me in on the details. It's good that we arrive early. Mason scratched his head and looked around him. Seeing all of us observing him he was dumbfounded. I would be surprised to see a lot of people observing me as soon as I woke up.

He looked troubled. After noticing me he immediately turns to me. Perhaps he didn't want to talk with Charlotte. He doesn't know Kairi and Izumi, so it's understandable.

"Ah... Oscar? What's happening? We are not... in my room. Where am I?"

"It's a long story. Don't worry I will tell you everything. But for now... Welcome back, Mason."

"Huh?"
