Revelation

(Zara's POV)

Luna Edgar. Someone who owes me a debt. She is also the daughter of one of the strongest families in the Daxhoull. A year ago she asked me for help. To cover something she had done. She killed an ordinary high schooler, Nora Crest. It was weird. I didn't understand why she asked for help with something as easy as covering the death of someone ordinary.

I soon understand why she asked for help. All of the family heads in the Daxhoull begin searching for one who is responsible for the death of Nora Crest in a panic. Turns out she was related to someone scary enough to make every influential family. I never learned who that person was. My uncle kept refusing to talk about it. He looked scared to death whenever I tried to talk to him about this so I stopped before he did something stupid because of his fear.

I can't help but remember that night. Luna first called me just before nine. She told me that she needed my help. When I went to the place she told me to, I saw her and several other people. Except for Luna, everyone else was looking... dizzy, they all had unfocused eyes, it was creepy. All of them were giving me a bad feeling and especially one of them was laying on the ground. She was the Nora Crest. When I got there she was already dead.

"Luna... Why are you involving me in these? There is a dead body here."

"Zara, I really need your help now. I have already arranged it to look like it was done by these idiots. Look, even Ilion Dax is among them. I only need to police to not look into this more than necessary. It has to be convincing and you can destroy Dax Family's reputation."

"Do you really think this will work? Why would these boys and especially Ilion would agree with you?"

"Ohohoh. You don't have to worry. They are already under the influence of, let's say something unhealthy. They will do anything I say and won't remember it afterward. What do you say? I will owe you one and it will be a big debt."

In the end, I accepted it. She was my childhood friend and I knew that she would always complete her side of the deals she made. Also, destroying Dax Family's reputation? I'm a Houll, that's one of the things on top of my to-do list. The more they lose reputation and influence more we will gain. And it happened just like I thought. Dax Family lost its reputation and send Ilion outside of the country. The blame fell on Alex and he was sent to the juvenile prison. But there was something unexpected.

Among the boys Luna arranged, Adam was beaten up and died in the hospital on the same night. There were also a lot of missing ones. I later learned that it was Oscar Williams who beat Adam to death. And before I could get rid of him in case of anything problematic happens my uncle warned me to never cross with Williams. Turns out they are a family with connections almost everywhere. I wouldn't care about this comment from my uncle and think he was just exaggerating but that look on his face... I still can't forget about it. His all body was shaking with fear while talking about them.

After what happened last night it's time for me to collect that debt. I left my safe house and directly went to Luna's own house. She was living alone for the last couple of years. Her house was rather close to my safe house so I arrived not much later. Since I called her beforehand she opened the door as soon as I knocked on it.

"Zara, come in."

"Thanks."

It was still night. I couldn't sit still after watching the camera footage from the mansion. And after getting inside I showed her the footage. Of course, I saved the footage. I can't make anyone believe me without any proof. Since it's come this I became honest with Luna. At least honest enough to make her trust and believe me.

"... this is... unexpected. I never thought that you would one day get involved with the supernatural side of the world."

"...What?!"

What does she mean?! No, what she means is clear. She is clearly aware of the supernatural creatures and weird things... Can I trust her? Do I have another choice at this point?

"You don't have to worry. You are my childhood friend. I'm not going to hurt you. And I already owe you one. I'm not someone who would betray those who I make deals with."

"Then... how much you know? I only know about the creatures my family caught and experimented on. Also that figure in the camera footage."

"Hmm... Let's start with important things. I'm a witch. You know like the ones in the tv series, the hot ones not those ugly green-skinned ones. Look, luminos."

As soon as she muttered the last word a small ball of light appeared on top of her hand. It was like a scene from some tv show but except I knew this was real. So, my childhood friend was actually a supernatural creature. Wait! Does that mean the one who attacked my family could be a witch like Luna?!

"It's incredibly easy to read what you are thinking from your face, you know."

"Eh?!"

"Don't worry. As I have said, I'm not going to hurt you. In fact, let's find out who attacked your mansion."

"Eh, that can be found?! How?"

"With witchcraft of course. I need about a half-hour to prepare for the spell. I'll have to indirectly make a connection through you to find the attacker. This type of spell requires some uncommon preparation."

We are going to find the identity of the person who attacked my family... I... this feels unreal. Just an hour ago I was terrified to death but now we are going after that person. Luna already showed me that she has supernatural power. Can she... beat that person? Can I acquire the same power?

I watched as she brought some weird things from another room. She put a big piece of white paper on top of a table in the living room. We are sitting on the sofa until now. I walked to the table and watched everything she is doing. She took a brush and dip into the container she brought. There was crimson liquid inside the container and it wasn't hard to guess what it was. It was blood but I don't know whether it is human or animal blood.

She draw some strange symbols on the corners of the paper and after that, she took out a bowl and pour some blood into it. After that, she took out some weird-looking herb I have never seen before and grind it until it became powder. She mixed that powder inside with the blood. Then she also took out a smaller container and pour some black powder into the bowl and mixed everything.

"Lastly I need a drop of your blood. To make the connection we need a material that has a deep connection to your family which has been killed. Blood is the best and most efficient option."

She gave me a needle and I pricked my finger with it. A drop of blood fell from my finger to the bowl. She mixed the concoction and kept muttering something under her breath that I couldn't understand.

She poured this liquid onto the paper. Then she held out her hands and closed her eyes. I think she is going to begin this spell. And she started muttering some words.

"Aezkonus honumes taelof juonev lifeor henge tuenam."

After she finished her words, the blood she poured on the paper started moving. A lot of weird symbols kept forming and disappearing. It's weird and nerve-wracking. I can't understand any of these symbols I have never seen them before.

"This is strange. I found a trace but... there is an obstacle."

She kept muttering and the symbols started to change shapes. Their shapes... became twisted... In the middle of the paper, some liquid gathered and outlines of some words started to appear. But before anything could happen the paper suddenly tore apart by itself and Luna fell to the ground with a scream.

"Luna!"
