The Fate You Gave Me

How do you live your life when you already know your fate? Eris have been running away from her so called fate ever since she was a child. Abandoned by her own mother, being treated as a demon by the people around her, and losing the only person who believed her, her whole life has been hell. And finally, she snapped. If everybody thinks and sees her as a villain, then so be it. *** Eris kneeled on the ground as she looked at the burning house in front of her. No tears fell from her eyes and no sorrow can be seen. Only emptiness. Indifference. She looked at the clear night sky that even the smoke from the fire cannot cover. The moon is bright and the stars are sparkling, as if mocking her for her wasted efforts and trying to live a life that was not meant to be hers. "If this is what you really want from me, then so be it." With those words, she finally accepted the fate that was given to her.

Prologue

Queen Avyanna was in the middle of instructing her maids when her husband, King Aldrich III, entered her room.

"My King," Avyanna greeted as she curtsied. Avyanna smiled affectionately at her husband but Aldrich just looked at her seriously. She sensed that something was wrong so she ordered her maids to leave them.

When the two of them were the only remaining people in the room, Avyanna took the initiative to get closer to him. But before she could even touch his clothes, Aldrich handed her a book. Seeing the title written on the cover, Avyanna turned pale and became nervous.

She looked at her husband who was watching her every reaction.

"How long has this been published?" Aldrich asked his wife.

Avyanna didn't answer.

"Avy," Aldrich called her with a serious tone.

Avyanna walked towards her bedroom window and looked at the palace garden quietly.

She didn't dare talk and he didn't ask further but just waited. They just stayed silent for a few minutes.

Avyanna released a sigh before finally answering.

"It's been three months," she said.

"Three months," Aldrich released a breath, exhausted. "Three months and I'm only finding out about this now, Avy? Did you know what you've done? I told you time and time again not to publish this story," Aldrich walked behind his wife and held her shoulders. "Why didn't you listen."

Avyanna looked at her husband with helplessness.

"I'm doing this for our family, Aldrich. For our children," she placed her hand on Aldrich's cheek, "for the future of our kingdom."

Aldrich closed his eyes as he held his wife's hand that was on his cheek. "I know you meant well," he opened his eyes and stared at his wife's eye. "But what you've done only caused more chaos."

Aldrich used his other hand to hold his wife's chin gently. "By publishing this story, you placed our family's name in danger. You gave our enemies a reason to attack us. You gave them a reason to look for our weaknesses. And Avy," he gently placed his forehead on hers. "You put our people in danger. You gave them reasons to leave because they fear for their safety. Not only the commoners but also some of my vassals started leaving the capital because they fear that what's written in this book will come true."

Tears started to fall from Avyanna's eyes.

"I'm sorry," she said. "I'm sorry if I placed you in a difficult position. But Aldrich, I'm scared. I've been having nightmares of the same events over and over and over again. I keep seeing our family in danger. Our kingdom is in ruins. And our Lucian almost dying. Although I know that there will be a savior who will come, I can't. As a mother, I can't let my children be in danger. I can't and I won't. I won't take the risk."

"Avy, only the gods can dictate our fate. We as humans will never have the power to change the future they have planned for us."

Avyanna grabbed her husband's arm and looked at him straight in his eyes. "The what if it is their plan, Aldrich? What if they were the ones giving me those dreams because they wanted me to change the future?"

Aldrich held his wife's hands and gave it a squeeze. "If it is their doing, then I will accept it."

Hearing those words, Avyanna released a breath and smiled. But her smile dropped after hearing his next words.

"But that is only an if, Avy. The gods will never interfere in the human realm. Not before, and not now. That is a fact known since ancient times."

Aldrich kissed his wife's forehead. "I will place an order to confiscate all the copies of this book before it can cause even more damage." He looked at her eyes seriously. "No more secrets, alright wife?"

Avyanna nodded which made him finally smile. "I love you," he whispered and kissed the back of her hand before letting go and leaving her room.

Avyanna just stood there and stared at the closed doors as she recall what her husband said.

"Indeed. I didn't write something about the gods interfering even in the book," she whispered.

She stared at the book that Aldrich left.

"I'm sorry Aldrich."

She then sat at her vanity and stared at her face. She immediately remembered that day three years ago. The day she woke up possessing her current body.

The body of Avyanna, the mother of the Male lead in her book.

This secret is one that she can never tell anyone. Not even to her husband.

In her past life, she was an office worker in an average company. And a part-time writer online. And this world is a world that she had written on a whim.

The title of her book was The Eternal Flower. It's a novel with a mediocre plot and only a few people read it. Most of the views and like on the novel came from her second account.

The story is a typical fantasy romance with a princess-like heroine. Aiyana, the female lead,  came from a commoner family. Since her birth, she was blessed with powerful magic which is why she was favored by her parents.  Her potential was discovered when a Count passed by their small village. She and her family were then supported by the Count as he trained her as his disciple. As the Count's disciple, she was given a chance to accompany him in attending celebrations in the palace. That's when she met the Crown Prince, the Male lead of the story. They developed feelings for each other and were then engaged with the blessing of both the Royal family and the Count.

And this was all witnessed by Aiyana's older sister, Eris. She has always been jealous of what Aiyana has. Strong magic, a strong master, their parent's favor, and the Crown Prince's love. Because of extreme jealousy and hatred, she was a perfect vessel for a demon. Because of this, she became the greatest villain that the kingdom had faced. In the end, she was defeated and killed by Aiyana. Peace was regained and they live happily ever after.

When the past her wrote this story, she didn't give her best effort as she was busy slaving for the company. She just ended it with a few chapters and never looked or think about it again. That is until she met an accident.

She never would have imagined possessing someone inside her book. But now that she did and that she's living a happy life, she wanted to make sure that her and her family's happiness will last forever.

That was why she published her book without her husband knowing. She asked for the church's help in publicizing the book to let the people think that it was a prophecy of the future. It's to let everybody prepare for what may come.

The nightmares she told her husband were a lie. It was purely based on her knowledge of the future. And she knew about the gods not interfering in the human realm. But for the sake of her family's future, she, as the creator of this world, will be its god.
