The sun is now over the horizon. The once bright outside now got darker. Inside the Sacobrel Manor, D-Squad now waits for Emeryn's parents to come home. For the parents, it would be the shock of their lives to find their daughter alive. Either that, the supposed 'demons' that they thought captured her were people from another planet.

To formally introduce themselves and clear up any of the misunderstandings, Emeryn decided that it to be a clever idea to have D-Squad have dinner with her parents. Amelia opted for the MREs but was later convinced out of it after trying out one of the kingdom's specialties, the Koar.

To not catch her parents off-guard after finding out their daughter is alive and well, Emeryn thought it would be best to be upfront with her parents when they arrive and not try to surprise them. Considering she knew her parents best and they were the types of people who did not like surprises. Out of all the suggested options, this was the only way.

With D-Squad now unequipped from their battle armour, they still stand out in terms of their clothing. One could mistake them as part of a circus troupe. Their green camo uniform just didn't suit Nenorian standards...but it was all they got. "And to hell with their clothes!" Sophia proudly proclaimed, admitting that it did not match her standards.

It would be around 1900hrs standard time when the sound of hooves slowly approached and the wheels from a certain carriage came to a halt. Footsteps were heard as it got closer to the door. Those people were Emeryn's parents: Gortin Sacobrel and Terisa Sacobrel.

"Alright, everyone ready?" Chain whispered. Trying to stay as silent as possible.

"Remind me why this was a good idea again?" Kretschmer said, sceptical of the plan.

"My parents, especially my mother, don't like surprises and what conceivable way can I show to both my parents that I'm not dead but alive and well," Emeryn explains.

"You got a point there."

"This reminds me of the time when my class celebrated the return of one of our classmates after we thought he was killed after taking a quest by the guild to slay a demon," Gen adds in.

"Let's just hope your mother isn't the fainting type," Amelia says.

"She isn't, trust me."

"We all in position?" Chain makes the final command.

The room was lit with magical orbs hanging off the ceiling that acted as chandeliers. Everyone stood in their allocated spots, with Emeryn in the front and Chain beside her acting as support. Two pairs of distinct footsteps got louder as they approached the door. With the help of Luwinda, she was able to convince Emeryn's parents to go to the surprise room first. The door creaks open with two figures coming out. One was a huge built man standing and another was a tall slim woman. The man wore a blue tunic with a hose and the women wore what Emeryn was wearing but blue too.

There was a long silence as Emeryn's parents saw their daughter standing in front of them.

"Emeryn!" The large bulky man went straight to Emeryn and hugged her.

"D-dad...Too tight" Emeryn says nearly out of breath.

"Ooops, sorry." Tears start falling out of the man's eyes. "Is this really *sniffles* you...Are you my little phoenix?"

"Yes...father." Emeryn starts crying too. The overwhelming emotional response from the scene makes Kretschmer cry in the background.

"This is beautiful," Kretschmer says as he wipes a tear away.

Whereas the emotional scene unfolds, the woman who was Emeryn's mother stood there emotionless. She looks at everyone with a stern look on her face as if she was scouting the area for enemies. Her eyes especially observe the members of D-Squad. After her observation, she walks next to her husband and lays her on his shoulder.

"That is enough, Gortin." The hugging stops. He then slowly puts her down.

"Sorry, just got a little excited seeing our daughter alive and well."

A little? Chain thought in his head.

Emeryn's mother looks at her daughter as if she was confirming her identity. "It looks like you are my daughter then." Emeryn's face was slightly saddening from the tone of her mother's voice. "Where have you been these past few days. The report from your Order says you were captured by demons. And who are these people?" The harsh interrogation leaves Emeryn in silence. The once lively atmosphere emitted from the father and daughter reunion slowly dissipates.

"These are um..." Emeryn mumbles.

"Speak child."

Noticing Emeryn was struggling from answering her mother's question, Chain steps in.

"Hey there. Were the people who saved her actually."

Emeryn;s mother redirects her attention towards Chain now. She walks up to him and with her cold eyes looks into his. Without even a greeting, she immediately questions Chian.

"And who may you people be?"

"Were Delta Squad. From the IFU ma'am." Chain truthfully replies. "And I'm the leader of this squad. And these are the rest of my squad members." The four including Gen looked at the woman with nervousness but still remained calmed under the heavy situation.

"I have never heard of this IFU before. Are you perhaps mercenaries or adventures from a guild?" Her relentless questioning continues. It was as if Emeryn's mother was acting as an interrogator trying to get a criminal to confess.

"Were actually soldiers." As soon as she heard those words, immediately she drew out a hidden knife from the side of her thigh. She points it close enough that it nearly touches his neck. The other members were useless in the situation. Chain had ordered his squad earlier to put their weapons away and wanted to have a peaceful conversation. With his hands in the hair, sweat starts dripping down his forehead.

"Mother!" Emeryn shouts to try and stop her mother from killing Chain. Even her father joins in and tries to dissuade his wife from killing the unarmed man.

"Terisa, stop this. Let the man explain himself before we jump to any conclusions."

She stows away the knife. Chain was sweating like a cow in a slaughterhouse. A few centimetres would have been the end of him. Emeryn runs towards him and checks to see if he was fine. Just as the mother steps back, she tells Chain and the rest of his squad a warning.

"If I deem anything you say a potential threat to my daughter or to this kingdom, I will personally kill you." The threat left Chain terrified. Never had he met anyone who was so frightening.

"So that's what you meant by she wasn't the fainting type." Chain tries to humour the fear out of him with a joke.

--------------------

A long dinner table in the dinning hall sat members of the Delta Squad and the Sacobrels. At one side of table was Gortin. On his right was his wife, Terisa and on his left was their daughter, Emeryn. Across from them, Chain sat directly facing Gortin with Kretschmer, Gen and Amelia sitting beside him on both sides. The dinning table was filled with recognisable tableware. The plates were decorated with unique pictures of flowers and decorations. All foreign to Chain and his squad. Gen expression showed that she's never seen such as luxurious place before. All of this was nothing compared to her now destroyed hut back in the forest.

Maids start walking in with their meals. One recognisable maid was Luwinda. Her eyes met Amelia and she immediately turned her head away in embarrassment and to hide her slight blush. Other maids continued too pour wine into their silver chalices. On everyone's plate lay the famous Koar dish that looked similar to the meat from an Earth boar.

"A toast for the safe return of my daughter!" Gortin holds his drink in the air and continues to scoff down his drink all at once.

Everyone else raise their drinks into the air.

"Pardon my wife's earlier hasty judgement." Gortin apologises. "Its just that she thought you were spies from a neighbouring realm and took our daughter as hostage." Wondering what the wife's reaction would be, Chain only saw her eating her food with bloodthirsty eyes staring right back at him.

Chain gulps.

"It's fine Mr Sacobrel. It was my fault too that I hadn't properly introduce myself in a proper manner rather than surprising you and your wife like that.

Gortin then bursts out laughing. "Hahahaha. What a polite man!" He continues to bite a piece of meat of a bone. "No need to call me by my last name. You can call me Gortin."

"Got that Mr Gortin."

The rest continue to eat their food. Amelia was happily devouring her food. To Chain's surprise, Kretschmer was someone who couldn't handle their alcohol. Too his luck, Gen would have too regularly cast a 'detoxification spell' or a 'sober spell' as Kretschmer would call it so he could keep enjoying the drinks. Sophia barely spoke any words and simply sat there eating her food.

"So Chain," Gortin out of nowhere asks Chain a question. "What is it would you like?"

"Pardon?" Asked Chain confused by Gortin's question.

"There's no need to hide it child." Gortin spoke bluntly. "Your group here rescued my daughter who is the commander of the Order of Herleva. Name your price. Is it riches, knighthood... or having my daughter's hand in marriage?"

Anyone who heard the conversation and was drinking out of their chalices spat out their drinks at that moment. And that included Chain, Terisa and Emeryn.

"Father/Dear!" Emeryn and her mother simultaneously called out to him. On the other hand, Chain on the other hand sat there silently trying to compute what he had heard.

"What are you talking about Gortin! We can't let some stranger marry our daughter." Terisa protested at the top of her lungs.

Emeryn than has her own say. "He simply rescued me after my Order was ambushed." Contrary to what she was saying, Emeryn face was easy to read at that moment. Her face bright read either from the alcohol or embarrassment.

"I hear no refusals from my daughter." He continues to tease the both of them.

Before this conversation gets out of hand, Chain interrupts the bickering family. "The IFU were actually planning to meet with your king."

The bickering stops.

"For what exact reason does the IFU want to meet with our king?" The one that asked this wasn't Gortin but his wife, Terisa.

"Permission to establish a colony near the Wilda Forest."

{Author here again, sorry for the super late release. Even though I said I wouldn't upload this chapter late, I still did it. I now realised things are getting busier for me in my personal life and it was hard to write since I would be tired after all the extra work I was unprepared for. Realising this now, I plan to change the upload schedule to at least 2 chapter a month!}
