This is Jacob Cross Speaking, Log Date is July 20th, 2277. This will be log Nineteen. I'm now Nineteen so it won't be much longer until I leave. After doing so the game plan is to head into Megaton, disable the bomb and gather as much information as I can on the Waste. Mom and Dad are staying in the Vault due to Moms recent pregnancy, and my opinion on them being more of a liability then help. Dad was pissed when I said that but honestly I didn't care. I don't want fate fucking up the family I have here.
Due to the improvements I made to the Vault, no one really uses their Pip-Boy anymore so I've been fiddling with some to see if I could possibly get a map of the world. Unfortunately the results I got back were less the stellar. I've only been able to make a map that encompasses an area the size of Rhode Island.
I also fixed most of the Vaults problems other than low population. The Radroachs were all hunted down by my Cookie robots and the only one left is the one I took as a pet, "I named him steve", and once I found the breach of where they were coming from I fixed it for the most part. I did leave a hole though so my robots could go out and scavenge some things for me. It sucks that their range is only a half a mile away from the Vault, but bedrock will fuck up any signal.
Alphonse gave me access to the armory so I spent a good amount of time trying to figure out a way to up the power of our weapons. Yes I know that it only takes one shot to end a human, but guess what, their's a lot more monstrosities out their than just humans, and I'll be damned if I get caught with my pants down when I could have been well fucking prepared.
I asked Cortana why was it that I didn't have a quest yet when the game gives you one while you're one. Her answer was that it will be initializing when my prologue ends. In other words when I leave the Vault... Great.
Amata and I on the other hand aren't doing so great. With me fixing most of the problems in the Vault she doesn't see the reason why I would want to leave when I've already trained four excellent "Diplomats", and truthfully if I wasn't born to another world I could see where she's coming from. However being stuck in this god damn tomb is doing nothing for my sanity when I know that the world outside is so much more... Free.
My task force code name "Mando" is excelling at the training I've put them through. With my monstrous strength, speed, and agility I have trained them to the point where it would make the SEAL's cry. I may or may not have used a lot of the training videos from earth to compile a new way of training which I dub The Wasteland Warrior, but even with all that they're still the squishy little humans that can go pop under a behemoths foot.
So after I gather all the information I can at Megaton and help them with a few of their problems. I'm booking it towards the outcast for the free power armor... after they try to fight back of course. Project Anchorage is by far one of the best tools I can utilize for my start, but it can also serve as a outpost for me as well.
But that's only my outlining plan, as they say man proposes and god disposes. Hopefully everything goes my way. That wraps up last years review. Hopefully going forward l'll be able to discern what it is that makes the Wasteland differ from the one I know. Gods this is gonna blow, what a drag.
End log.
After putting away the holotape In my inventory I get up and do one more thorough check of all the gear and weaponry to make sure none of the residents down here fucked with it. And lo and behold one of my weapons are missing... I am really starting to hate this place. Amata made it bearable, but now that she's taken up the mantle of Overseer, It's been rough.
She thinks anything I do is either stupid, wastefull, damaging to the Vault, or unnecessary. Unnecessary... Does she not understand that I'm about to go into a fucking wasteland where the slightest thing can kill me and you think all my preparations are unnecessary? Over excesive maybe, but none of it is unnecessary.
I just wanna know where the girl I used to run away and snuggle with is. She's changed since she became Overseer, and not in anyway I like. We don't spend time together, she's always too busy. Even when I used to drop everthing I was doing for her, she won't do the same. it's like she not even trying anymore, and it hurts. Gamer mind won't kick in because apparently I need to go through this.
I have a liitle less than a month left before I leave and we haven't spent any time together. She's pulling away from me, but if she thinks that by doing so that I'll stay. She's wrong, dead wrong. I've had enough of being crampt up in this Vault where everyone is either kissing my ass or hating my guts for opening the Vault.
One last chance that's all I can give her, and if she doesn't take it then... I don't know. Maybe I should speak with mom, she might have an inkling on what's going on. God I hope so, I don't want to lose Amata, but at the same time i'm not giving up on the Wasteland.
Now lets go track down that missing weapon. My guess is one of Security took it.
*A few weeks later*
I'm standing in front of the Overseers door waiting to be let in. That by itself is pissing me off, let alone the fact that Amata hasn't talked to me in weeks. While lost in my thoughts the door opens, and there stands the girl, no, woman I love, but I'm getting a bad feeling about this.
"Hello Jacob please step inside and have a seat. Their is much we must discuss." Walking in I can't believe the way she's speaking right now. No hug to great me, no little smirk on her face cause she's playing around. It's just like Alphonse. Strict, showing no emotion. Before I can even try to reach her she's sitting down at HER desk.
"Amata what's this all about, look I've been worried about you. You never come over, anytime I try to speak with you, you just brush me off and say you're busy. Seriously what's been going on with you." Looking at her she still doesn't break. Instead of sitting down I go over to where a faucet is grab two cups and fill them with water. I go and finally sit down. Sliding one of the cups over to her, I look at her a little saddened that it's come to this.
Putting on a face deprived of emotion I gesture for her to start. "Jacob it has come to my attention that opening the Vault doors is something we shouldn't do. So as of this moment I'm disbanding the Mando Task Group, that my predecessor proposed. As well as stripping you of any rights you may have had as well. You will return to being just another Vault Dweller under my care." Using all the skill I have I keep my face still. "And may I ask the reason for why you think it's a bad idea to open the Vault Overseer."
Amata finally flinches as the cold word I said run over her. With a trembling lip she looks into my eyes. "Because I don't want you to leave and if keeping the door shut means that you stay then that's what I'm going to do. Jacob for the past few years you've had nothing else on your mind except for going out there. However I won't let you, I've read some of the logs on my computer from previous Overseers and the picture they paint are not pretty. So if locking the door is the only way to keep you safe then I have no problem doing so. Jacob I love you, but the idea of you going out there and not coming back eats me alive when I'm laying in bed, and I just can't let you go out there. I'm sorry, and I don't care if you hate me, but you're not leaving this Vault so long as I live and breath."
I still sit in my chair staring at her crying face. I do the only thing I can. I get up, go to the door, and lock it. Then I go over to Amata pull her up into my embrace and walk over to the couch. I just hold her brush my hand through her hair, and let her cry. After she's stable I pull her head up to mine and I kiss her. I give her the only thing I can, my love.
After a few more moments I feel her breathing deepening telling me that she's asleep and that the drug worked. Feeling like shit I lay her down and place the holotape I made for her on the table next to her. Taking a long look I engrave the sight of my love, and then I open up the Overseers terminal and read through the logs posted there. Most of what I read I already know, but the bit where Amata's Mom was apparently the last one to leave the Vault 18 years ago caught me off gaurd. Now I know why she changed so much. Even so, now I'm more determined than ever to go.
So I hit the button to open the tunnel and waited. As I descend down the stairs I give one last look at my girls peaceful smile. That's probably going to be the last time she has one, I think in the back of my head. I hit the button and close the entrance and walk to the closed door. Taking a deep breath I follow the hallway all the way to the end where a switch is waiting to be flipped. As the hidden wall comes down I flip the switch again and walk out.
In front of me is the door holding back all the savageries that the Waste holds, and all it take is a simple command to open it. I reach for it, but notice my hand shaking. Steeling myself I operate the controls and finally open the door, and damn if its not loud. All the sudden I feel a hand on my shoulder one that I know well. "Well Dad, come to see off the wayward son?"
Turning around I see him look at me with both his hands on my shoulders. "Oh my boy, look at how big you've grown. I remember just like it was yesterday of you playing with your BB gun being so excited. And now here you are about to leave the Vault. Do you even have any idea on what it is your doing. Leaving this safety behind, for what?"
Looking at my Dad it struck me that it's entirely possible for me not to see him again. After all I don't have a save button I can just hit and reload. So I pull him into a hug and hold him. I'm not the big bad Lone Wander, I'm just a kid who thinks he knows better than everyone else. Hell the amount of shit I'm about to go through, and for what, adventure? No... No I can't get cold feet, I'm going to make the world a better place. For me, my family and my friends. "Dad... I'll miss you, but I've got to do this. No one else is willing to or wants to help the World, but I'm different. Not only do I want to help the World I know I can. I've plans that I know will help everyone Dad. I just need time to implement them, so give me five year's if I'm not back by then... Then I'm sorry."
Taking a deep breath I smile. "Take care Dad and please take care of Amata too. With the way I'm leaving, she'll be broken, but just tell her I love her and I'll miss her everyday." Getting a little bit of my charm back I joke. "Also tell my sister about how cool her big brother is. I love you dad, I'll miss you guys."
With that I turn and step out of the door, the first thing I notice is how many skeletons there are. Stepping past all of them I reach about midway before I hear the door start to shut and my father wishing me good luck. Without turning around I stroll forward and reach the end where a rickety old wooded door is barely hanging on. I put my hand on it and time stops and a screen pops up.
*Congratulations on making it through the Prologue If you wish to change anything do so now.*
"I'm fine as is Cortana, lets just get this over with
*Do you find everything acceptable. If you do, then may the odds be ever in your favor.*
With those last words the texts infront of me fades away and the old rickety door comes in view. Taking a deep breath I push open the door and I'm immediately blinded. I guess living underground for 18 years will do that to a person. A few moments later my eyes adjust and I see nothing but waste and destruction for as far as the eye can see.
Taking a look back I can only make out the faded yellow numbers 101 and by closing the door I feel like I'm closing a part of my life away. I mean yeah I could probably go back anytime I want, but what then. Amata made it clear that she would never let me leave the vault, and the people I trained would only be a liability until I get them better gear to survive the Waste.
So yeah Vaults out of the equation for now. I walk forward and stand at the scenic overlook and can't help but feel free.
"Quest Complete Opening Up"
Taking a look at my Pip-Boy I feel lost. There's so much that I could do, but I have no idea on what it is that I'm actually trying to do. Am I just going to do the quest's from the game or am I going to stike out on my own and explore. I have all the knowledge needed to start up the Purifier before the Enclave is even a factor. Hell I even know where Raven Rock is so I could potential take them out in one fell swoop.
Fuck it, lets just go to Megaton. I'll take it a step at a time. "Cortana play my music playlist 'Walking The Waste' also immediately turn off music when threats are near."
"Command received. Will there be anything else Jacob?"
"No, thank you Cortana."
Stepping on the broken road I make my way towards Springvale. Looking at all the broken buildings I suddenly hear a scream. Running towards the noise I spot a band of raiders circling a lone woman with blonde hair and ripped apart clothes laying on the ground in a ball.
"No please don't, i'll give you anything, just please leave me alone."
From the circle a man walks right up to her and bends down.
"Hi there Silver, you remember me? I was one of your customers before and damn do I remember the way you'd rock your hips while on top of me. Moriarty sends his regards. he didn't like it when you told him you weren't working for him anymore so he told us that you were fresh meat, and guess what? Me and the gang could really use with a stress reliever after a good day of killin, and I can't think of a better one then raping a bitch senseless. So scream and shout as much as you want cause no one's coming to help you."
With that said the raider stands back up only for me to put him back down. I activate V.A.TS. and toggle six of the 13 raiders head. I feel a moment of nervousness, but steel myself and confirm. With no control my hand grabs the modified Silenced 10mm pistol and smoothly brings it up and starts firing away. In a few seconds I already put a new hole in each of the six heads.
After seeing there friends drop the other 7 start to scamble and look everywhere for me. I hit V.A.T.S. again and take down another 6. In V.A.T.S. once more but this time I cripple the last one's arms and legs, and they just so happen to be the one talking shit not to long ago.
I walk out of my hiding spot and try to sense if there are any more of those fucks around, luckily for me there isn't. I slowly walk my way towards the man I crippled and this bastard just won't shut the fuck up. So giving him a kick with just enough force to knock him out, I walk over to silver who's still on the ground in the fetal position.
Giving her a quick once over it appears as she's passed out from shock. Sighing to myself I drape her over my shoulder and grab the bleeding out shit stain by the hair and drag him to Megaton, which is about a quarter mile from where I am now.
After a few minutes I arrive in front of the hulking gate made out of plane wings and wait for the gate to open. I noticed that the Protectron they normally have on the outside isn't there. What I do see however is a gaurd standing on top of a gate with a rifle trained right on me. A few more minutes pass by, but niether of us say anything. Eventually the damn gate opens up and I've just gotta say I'll take the Vault opening up over this ear rape.
The gate takes about a minute to open and afterwards the one, the only, Lucas Simms walks out with an assault rifle pointed right at my head. Man I'm already tired of guns being pointed at me and it's only my first day on the job, I need some whiskey.
Lucas looks at me and the stalemate is finally broken when he asks. "What's you purpose here stranger?" Still not lowering his gun at my head. Giving in I sigh and drop the raiders I'm dragging and reach ever so slowly for Silver who's still draped over my shoulder. When I lay her down Lucas takes one look and recognizes who she is and finally lowers his gun. I take note of however that the guy on top is still got his sights trained on me or more specifically the piece of shit I dragged in. Not taking a chance I step into his line of sight, after all don't know if the dudes on Moriarty's pay list or not and I need this bitch alive for a few more hours, so yeah not happening.
Lucas walks over to Silver and bends down to check her condition. Seeing that she alive and well aside from some brusing he stands back up and gives me a questioning look. So I explain that on my way here I heard a scream and saw a group of raiders harassing Silver and that I killed all but one gesturing to the one behind me.
"Now how in the hell did you kill all those raiders just by yourself. No offense, but you look greener than the oasis up north."
I'm totally not in the mood for this. I pull my 10mm and shoot 5 Nuka-cola bottles off to my right that's sitting on a overturned bathtub without looking. And by doing this Lucas once again has his gun on me. Stowing away my pistol I just give him a look that says really.
Seeing my look Lucas lowers his gun once more and yells at the guy at the top to stop aiming at me. Giving me another look he picks Silver up and tells me to follow him in. Digging my hand back into the matted hair of the raider, I drag the bastard while following Lucas. When he pushs open the second gate I take in the sight of Megaton, which to be honest is even worse than what the game portrays.
Whole houses are supported by nothing more than steele poles. The shacks they've made are full of holes that you can peek into, and just jagged pieces of metal sticking out everywhere. If I didn't know better than i'd say this was a raider base. So while strolling behind Lucas we finally reach the crater where the big ol' bomb sits and I swear I can hear that fucker tic, so yeah when ever I get the chance I'm disarming that bitch.
We walk up the ramp and enter Megatons Clinic where Lucas puts Silver on one of the cots and I drop the shit stain on the floor. Lucas looks over at me after hearing the thud. Giving a disgruntled look at the raider.
"Would you mind explaining why you've dragged one of those filth in here kid. Cause honestly we normally just put a bullet in them and call it a day."
Looking around I see a chair in one corner and some bindings on one of the beds. Bending down I grab the raider and sit him on the chair then grab the bindings off the bed to bind him. Giving him one of the fastest remedies to wake up. I pull my hand back and give him a good ol' bitch slap. Another effective remedy is to light a flame near a man's junk, never seen it in person but the youtube videos are hilarious.
After a few more good slaps in just because, I look into the raiders eyes. "Tell me your involvement with Moriarty and if you do so I've enough Jet to send your ass to the next cycle. So we can either be quick about this or I can make your last few hours alive a living hell. Your choice, just don't disappoint."
The raider looks relieved at the mention of a quick death, he look's around for a moment and then nods his head. "Okay, the deal with Moriarty is that we don't fuck with his shipments and in return he gives us the occasionally caravan route that no one will miss. Also sometimes he pays us to do a job for him. The last one was to do whatever we wanted to the girl over there. Kill her and just give Moriarty all the caps she had."
Looking behind me I see Lucas with a cold dead look that speaks volumes about his current mood, turning back to the raider. "Where do you and your gang operate out of, how many of you are left and is there anyone in specific that I need to worry about. Also do you have any slaves or prisoners in your base."
After obtaining all the information I can, I face Lucas who pulls out his pistol and shoots the raider in the head. Doc Church turns around drawing his own pistol, but stops seeing that the situation is ok. He does mumble under his breath "good riddance". Then turns back to tending Silver.
I look at Lucas who still has that cold look on his face. "So what are we going to do about Moriarty? Do you want me to snoop around and gather more concrete info or do you want to just head up and off him. Cause either way I'm down."
Lucas stands silently for a moment and then heads out. I quickly follow him and see he's heading towards Moriarty's. Second option it is, poor Gob he'll be cleaning brains out for days.
As we make our way up Lucas stops right in front of the door. He turns to me. "Kid things are about to get dicey so if you don't want any part in it I understand. However your participation would be appreciated, I'll still pay you either way. That is if I come out alive." Once finished he opens the door and walks straight to the bar where Gob is banging on a radio and Nova is telling him it doesn't work like that.
Both stop when they see Lucas. He looks at them and asks where Moriarty is at. They point to the back room, and Lucas walks on by. Giving them a quick wave I follow only to see Lucas with his gun up against Moriarty's head. Seeing me he gives me a pleading look to save him. I smile and wave. "Hi Morty tell us what we want to know and you stay in one piece otherwise Mr. Sim's here won't hesitate to give you a third eye."
Lucas wrings all the info he can from Moriarty with my help. Then without further ado *BANG*, no more Morty. You just gotta love Wasteland justice. Walking out of the back room Lucas asks Nova to gather everyone. It'll take a little bit of time before everyone gets here so I walk over to gob and strike up a conversation. He tells me of course of how he's a slave, well used to be a slave. After talking a little more I ask if I can take a look at the radio. He says sure, so I look at it and fix one of the tubes that's out of place and the signal instantly clears up. Gob thanks me and then we talk a little more while waiting for the others.
A half an hour later everyone of note is here and listening to what Lucas is saying, telling them all about Moriarty's deal with raiders and all the underhanded shit he's been doing.
Everyone takes a moment to digest what was thrown at them. After a little longer they're done and they start discussing what to do with the bar. No one can come to a single conclusion so I throw in my two cent. "Why not let Gob handle everything. I mean from what I've heard Gobs been helping run things for years now so he can probably do a better job than anyone. Plus you all know him and his character so I don't see any issues that would arise from handing everything over to him. And if your only counter agurement is that he's a ghoul, I say go fuck yourself."
And with that I walk out and head towards the bomb. Every second that thing is active is another second to long. So making my way down there I stand in the Irradiated water and pull off the panel to the bombs inside. Taking a quick look I freeze in terror, the only thing that's stopping it from going off is a fucking loose wire. Steadying my hands I reach in and take out the Plutonium isotope 239 and cut the wires to the explosive device and then scramble it all so no one can make it work. After placing the panel back on I step back and and bump into Lucas who was standing behind me.
"So kid, did you disarm it or are we all still waiting on a ticking time bomb?" Letting out a sigh I explain to him that the only thing between him and a separation of atoms was a loose wire that probably got disconnected during flight. Lucas's face immediately goes pale upon hearing that.
Lucas reaches out and grabs my hand and starts shaking it vigorously. Thanking me over and over again. When he finally let's go he gives me a key to one of the houses and tries to give me two hundred caps. But with my high speech I wrangle out 700 instead, not including the pay for helping with Moriarty, that's 1000 caps by itself. After getting paid I ask "Lucas what would you say to me taking care of those raiders that set up shop in Springvale elementary. I take care of your raider problem and you get everyone to agree on a 50% discount on all their goods. It's a win win situation if you ask me.".
Lucas looks down with his hands on his hip then he looks back up "I can't make any promises, but I'll go talk to everyone. I don't know about you but I think everyone else has had a pretty long day. Come see me tomorrow and we'll work out the kinks and see where everyone lies. So go on and take a gander at the house. It's not everyday that Megaton gets a new resident." and with that he saunters off back to Gobs Bar. Been in town only an hour and I'm already making changes.
I set off to my new house and then proceed to look around and all I have to say is that it is barren other than Wadsworth hovering over everything. Taking a moment to look over his systems I incorporate the same upgrade in software that I gave Andy. Then I head of to bed to let dreams take me far away.
The next morning I wake up to someone banging on my door. Getting up I stretch and walk down stairs and open the door. Lucas is on the other side and he tells me that everyone agreed to my request but the discounts can only be good for a year. Thinking it over it's still a pretty good deal cause hopefully within a year my dreams will become a reality.
So accepting the offer I head off towards the elementary school. Wiki said that the raiders are attempting to blast there way into the Vault and there is no way in hell I'm allowing that.
Starting from the outside I see three raiders. Two up the stairs and one down below asleep. Pulling out my two Modified silenced 10mm's I take aim at the top two and pop'em. One fall backwards and lands directly on where the other raider is sleeping, driving one of the spikes on their armor directly into the sleeping ones head. Man I love my luck.
Creeping over I loot both bodies of everthing cause hoarders are gonna hoard, then walk up the steps to the other body next to the door and take everything as well. Opening the door silently I peak around and see no one. I inch forward until I hear voices, so doing the smart thing I lean out of cover, enter V.A.T.S. and take stock of the situation. There are about 4 men surrounding a girl who looks like she's seen better days. Taking a close look I notice that she's not one of the Raiders.
Stepping out of cover I drop all four before they can make a sound. Listening to see if there are anymore I hear nothing from this floor. I crouch down next to the girl and it appears that she's been heavily medicated most likely by Med-X. Taking out one of my Stimpacks I inject it's contents into the area around her heart. That should help bring her out of the high faster.
Looting all the bodies I move over to where I know the terminal is at. I spot Goodies gallor, I put everything in my inventory. I change into the Raider Blastmaster armor and dirty my face and arms a little. Walking down stairs I see a guy gaurding the lower stair entrance walking by him I hear him head up the stairs I turn and pop his head as soon as he reaches the top. Leaving his body for now I track down the rest that are still on the ground floor and end them too. After a bit of searching for goodies I finally head down into the basement where I kill all the guys down there and grab the key to the locked down.
Opening the door I'm met by the biggest fucking ant I've ever seen. The ant runs over and starts rubbing its Carapace against me and then proceeds to lay down at my feet. Thank G for the Animal perk skill 3, really useful. After stepping over the ant I walk down the hole in the ground and follow it until the end. Now I'm surrounded by ants and I've got 100 grenades and about 57 mines more in my inventory. After a moment an ant covered in diamonds walk up and drops a Laser Pistol at my feet.
The ant bows it's head and I feel something in my head that whispers. "We welcome friend." Reaching down I pat the ant on the head and pick up the Laser Pistol throwing it in my inventory where it's restored to factory condition.
Apparently when my repair got to 100 it unlocked a hidden perk that makes whatever I throw in my Inventory get restored to its peak condition. A very useful perk if I do say so myself. Downside is that whatever is thrown in can only be repaired once a day, but G damn it's still OP.
The ant look at me with all one hundred of it's eyes then scurries back towards it's ken. "Thank you for your gift but may I ask that you join me on my adventures sometimes as well as protect the structure above you?" The Ant stops, comes back to me and scratches off a piece of it's carapace. "Use to call me when here." bowing it's head once more it runs off back to her nest. I hear one last whisper. "You may call me Antony."
After the whole shabang I head back upstairs to check if there are any more people beside the girl I found, and all I find are dead bodies. I go around and collect an ear off of all the bodies. Doing one last sweep I don't find anything of interest except the Nuka Quantum on top of one of the cages. Walking upstairs I find the girl still out of it. Not wanting to stay for to long I throw her over my shoulder and leave for Megaton. Second day out in the Waste and I've already carried two women in. I guess that's what happens when your the main protagonist.
Walking back to town one of the Eye Bots fly's past me and then crashes into the ground. Taking a look at it, it seems to have a few bullet holes in it's side. Shrugging I touch the Bot and send it to my Inventory. That'll be a nice little side project for later.
As I walk through the gate to town, Lucas is already standing in front of it waiting for me so without further ado I hand him the necklace full of ears."There you go Sims no more Raiders." Taking it without batting an eye he nods. "Good work kid, I take it that girl on your shoulder was the only one left?" I nod." Yeah, she was about to be raped if I didn't intervene when I did. Poor things family is most likely all dead. Do you think anyone here will take her in?"
Lucas thinks for a moment. "You could ask around, but your best bet would either be Lucy West who arrived a little bit before you, or Moira Brown, she's our main trader. and is always up to something so she might appreciate an extra set of hands." Nodding I first take her to the clinic where Doc Church takes a look at her, and since I brought her in I've got to pay for her stay and treatment. He tells me she'll probably be out until tomorrow.
With all that done I head back to my place and take out all the stuff I want to sell and stuff it into huge duffle bags. Then I walk around to Crator Supplies and head on in.
As soon as I open the door I'm greeted by the sight of both Moira and the merc passed out on the floor. Sniffing the air I smell nothing but when I look over where Moria is at, her Chem Lab has an ongoing experiment with labled chemicals that when put together create a scentless knockout gas. Running over I turn off the Labs burners. Reaching into my Inventory I pull out a smelling Salt and break it under Moria's nose.
I move over to the Merc and then put them under his nose. Moria is still out but the Merc is coming around. After a few more seconds the Merc is up and looking around he then pulls his gun on me. Man I am so tired of people pointing guns at me.
"What are you doing in here!" I look at the man then point to the Chem Lab. "Look I came in to talk with Moria about a situation, but when I came in you guys where passed out on the floor. Whatever Moria was trying to make knocked you both out so I tried waking you both up. Since Moria was standing right on top of the Lab she probably got hit harder so that's why she's not awake." STILL with his gun pointed at me, pulls something from his pouch and crouches next to Moria. He then slips something into her mouth and in the next moment she sits up and inhales loudly.
After having a coughing fit she looks around and sees me at gun point. "Oh hello there sorry, but it looks like you've caught me at a bad time haha. Oh MIKE put your gun down this here is our newest resident. Mr... uh Mr... I'm sorry but I don't believe I caught your name before." She stands up and brushes off the dirt on her Robco Uniform and holds out a hand. Sigh I knew she was a bit of a ditz but this is a bit much, yeah?
Holding out my hand she shakes mine. "Hi the names Jacob Cross I just came out of Vault 101 yesterday." I can see her eyes get real big. "Oh a Vault Dweller. Its been so long since I've run into your type. Tell me would you be willing to answer a few of my questions. If you do I'll give you that sweet Armored Vault Suit I've got behind the counter.
ADHD is very much still a thing I see. Thank G I don't have it. "Yeah sure, I could always use some better gear." She gets real giddy and starts to clap her hands "Yay, ok so first thing how would you describe living in a Vault." Choosing my words carefully. "Well every Vault Dweller sees things differently. Some believe that it's the best thing every since sugar. Other feel like they are trapped, that would be me. Honestly though it is a safe haven against all the Wasteland has to throw at you, but in return you don't really get to experience much. It's normally the same routine over and over again until the day you're incinerated."
"Oh that sounds both lovly and terrible. Second Question, How do you manage to grow crops down there?" Well this is new. "Well before the nukes fell Vault Tec was able to produce a light that would let plants grow like normal under ground, and as fertilizer we use the human waste we flush in our toilet's. That's how even after 200 year's we've been able to sustain ourselves fairly well. Of course that's just food, the Vault need constant attention to make sure everything stays in working order. Otherwise food would be the least of your worries."
"Simply fascinating, Say would you mind being my research assistant on a book I'm writing. I call it Wasteland Survivors Guide. Its to help those out there who don't have a clue on how to survive the Wasteland. If you say yes I've a whole bunch of goodies that'll be yours, plus think of all the people you could help. You don't have to answer right away, but please do think about it."
The perk I get for doing this long ass mission is well worth it so. "Yes I'd love to help with the book, but do you mind if we discuss it later. I actually came here because when I cleared out the Raiders I found a girl and she was the only survivor. From what I can tell she's only about 12 or 13 and it looks like she doesn't have any family. So I was wondering if you'd be able to take her in. I'd do it myself, but I'm most likely than not going to be traveling the wasteland, and rarely come back unless I need to. You can meet her tomorrow and talk with her, that's really all I'm asking. And if you wouldn't like to I can let her live in my place. I'd just ask if you could check up on her from time to time."
Moira looks split and I'm getting the feeling I'm about to get a roommate. Oh well everything I said was the truth so... shit. After talking a little longer about the book and what the first three chapters would be about I leave and head off towards my house only to find Lucas standing in front of my door.
I've got a feeling I won't like what comes next.
Hello everyone. Thanks for being patient i'm new to the whole writing thing and I'm honestly making up the story as I go so that's why it took so long. Also comment, they give me encouragement and I just like reading some of your thoughts. Give me ideas and I'll see if I can run with them or not. And without further ado Goodbye you Beautiful Bitches
