Chapter 34: Finding the Path (Part 2)

As the night came, the trees began to thin out as the canopy overhead created a kaleidoscope of light. The waning light of the day gave beams of light and pools of shadow that seemed to dance across the forest floor. Daring to wait until the sun had set, Elara and Aiden stopped. Aiden had his eyes closed in contemplation while Elara sketched in her book.

The brush once more began to shake as a small, pure white rabbit came through. This time, it wasn't alone.

The pure white rabbit was followed by an obsidian rabbit. The two rabbits curiously looked into the campsite as Elara and Aiden returned their gaze. Elara's gaze lightened as she saw them.

"Hello, little one," Elara said softly to the white rabbit. "Come here, don't be afraid." Elara placed her hand out for the white rabbit to come closer and sniff her hand. The obsidian rabbit stepped forward and sniffed Elara's hand, looking hesitant.
