Chapter 2: Water

2012. Earth. Continued...

Sarah's eyes opened gradually as she tried to adjust to the light. It was so bright in the tunnel in which the car was driving. She got up and saw she was still in Nikolai's car.

She felt herself get lifted by someone as the door of the back seat opened. Two hands reached for her and took her towards a huge cone shaped spaceship.

As she realized that it was an actual spaceship she started to wiggle and struggle in Nikolai's grasp.

"Let me go!" Sarah screamed as they entered the rocket.

"Hey! Shut up!" The woman yelled as she took out another syringe.

"Claire no. " Nikolai protested as he saw her preparing another injection.

"It's needed. She'll try to run!" Claire snapped as she was about to hit the needle on Sarah's soft skin, Nikolai growled in pain.

Sarah got out of his grasp, her fingers were small pointed icicles. She pierced them into his back and she pulled away from him. The icicles went back into her fingers and she made a run for her life once again.

Claire didn't follow her. Instead Nikolai got up and ran behind Sarah who was running in the field towards the forest.

He was much faster than the little girl and he grabbed her aggressively. He gestured to Claire to get the gun out.

She took the gun out and as Nikolai brought her back, Claire shot another drug in her arm.

"Please don't - it hurts. " Sarah gasped for air as her eyes again got heavy.

"Put her on the seat, fasten her belts." Claire ordered as she started the spaceship. Nikolai's blood wasn't stopping and he was wincing as he buckled the fainted girl.

"She's fucking fiesty." Nikolai groaned as he took off his shirt.

"You might want to sit Nikolai. Once we're out of Earth. You can change then." Claire said and he fell on his seat, struggling with his seatbelts.

The spaceship landed on Planet Earth 366 in Pinwheel Galaxy. Nikolai and Claire took Sarah to a private mansion. The metallic gate and walls protecting the mansion went off and the gate opened. All the security went down just as they entered then it turned back on as they entered the lawn.

A man dressed in black stood outside the door of the mansion. He glanced at the girl in Nikolai's hand.

"Here you go." Nikolai said and the man nodded.

"Follow me. Maxwell has been waiting for you. "

"Great. " They followed the man into the mansion. The huge house looked medieval from the outside but the interior was all modern and filled with AI gadgets. Grey walls, white and black furniture. No pictures just books on every wall.

The man entered the code to the vault and it opened. Leading them into the lab. A man not more than 40 looked at his guests. As he smiled, a few lines appeared on his face, evidence of the fact that he was middle aged indeed. He pushed back his light brown hair and removed his white lab coat.

"Maxwell!" Nikolai exclaimed and Maxwell just smiled.

"You found an elemental on earth." Max stated and Nikolai placed the girl on the bed in the center of the room.

"You can see for yourself." Nikolai said removing his shirt and Max frowned. He turned his back and Max sighed.

"She did this?" Maxwell asked, grabbing a small bottle of healing potion and putting on his back. " This is ice Nick. "

"I know it's ice. She can turn water into ice. " Nikolai said and Maxwell looked at the girl.

"That's not possible."

"I said that too. But it's true. Claire has this theory that maybe she's seen death. Her emotions are too strong and whenever she uses her powers it hurts her." He explained and Max checked the girl. He looked at her hands that were wounded.

"Who did this ?" Max asked.

"Not us. She did."

"Why didn't you give her the healing potion?"

"It doesn't work on her."

Maxwell nodded and went outside the lab, the security guard following him.

"Should we steal some healing potion?" Claire asked as she looked at the large stack of potions by the left wall.

"Go for it. Besides, his new pet rejects his potion." Nikolai said and Claire grinned. Healing potion was extremely expensive as only Maxwell knew the formula. No one knew how it was made. Many experts tried but they couldn't get it right.

Nikolai and Claire worked only for money and when they knew about Maxwell's plan. They knew they would make big bucks.

"That's enough. Let's not make him suspicious." Nikolai stopped her from stuffing her back anymore.

Maxwell came back after a while with the bag of money and gave it to Nikolai.

"I want you to remove any eyewitnesses. Kill them if they have a criminal background. Otherwise you know how to erase memories." Maxwell said opening the zip of the bag to reveal small bottles of drugs and syringes with money stacked below it.

"Fine. We are going back to earth. We'll keep you updated." Nikolai said and grabbed the bag. They shook hands. Claire and Nikolai both made their way out with the guard.

"And Claire!" Maxwell called and she stopped to look at him.

"Next time you steal something. Make sure it's not expired." Maxwell said kicking the box and pointing her at the camera.

"It's all poison in your purse. " He shrugged and Claire's nostrils flared as Maxwell smirked.

"Make sure they leave the property. Safely." Maxwell ordered in a sharp voice and both agents stared at Maxwell. He walked towards the girl and sighed.

He checked her thoroughly and picked her up. He took her upstairs through the lift. He stopped on the 2nd floor and took her into a bedroom.

"There you go." He whispered, placing her gently on the bed. He removed her shoes and placed a warm blanket on her. He dimmed the lights and went outside. By the end of the corridor, the two guards got alert as Maxwell ordered them.

"Keep an eye on this corridor. If the girl has any questions, answer them wisely and bring her to me." He said to them.

The mansion was situated between a forest. Earth 366 was a replica created by 5 Masters who travelled through time and inhabited a new planet. They brought all the equipment and languages here through the replicating power of Master Christopher Mason, who was a doctor on earth but here he became one of the creators.

The people living here were mostly predecessors and families that originated from the 5 Masters. They discovered this planet in 1860 and came here in 1875 by using Elementals power.

Maxwell checked the girl again. She was still asleep so he decided to wake her up. He gently stroked her head and tried to wake her up by just tickling and shaking her. He wasn't going to use any potions on her without her consent.

She adjusted under his touch but as he shook her one more time she opened her eyes. She looked at the stranger with wide eyes and jolted up.

"Woah! Woah! It's okay."

"Where am I?"

"You're in a mansion. My mansion."

"Who are you?" She asked getting out of the bed.

"I'm Maxwell. Maxwell Jones."

"You're going to torture me." She cried and he got up.

"No I will never harm you." He said gently, raising his hands in defense as the child was in no state of calmness.

"They all did. You want my powers don't you."

"No I don't. Look Sarah I assure you you're in safe hands."

"I don't believe you. You all lied to me. Miss Donna said the orphanage was my home. It was not. That man in suit said he will take me someplace safe, he forced me. You will do the same." She said and it broke Maxwell's heart.

"I'm really sorry, Sarah. But I'm not one of them. This is your new home. Where you will be whatever you want to be." He said and he glanced at her hands. She was using her powers, the room was getting filled with water.

"Where am I?" She yelled getting tense by looking at the unfimiliar walls

"You're on another planet. Earth 366. It is just the same as Earth. You are an Elemental, Sarah. One of the strongest Elemental." He told her and she looked at him, still taking shaky breats and crying.

"What will you do to me?" She asked in a meek voice.

"I will take care of you. Your hands hurt right? I will find a cure. I promise you. I don't break promises. Please stop using your powers." He said taking a step close to her.

"Don't!" She said making the water fast. He stopped as she glared at him.

"Okay okay. I'll stop. I'll take a step when you want me to. Is that alright?" He confronted her and she slowly let the water go down.

"I can't dry this place. " She said and he chuckled.

"You can get any room you like. All is yours." He whispered and she stopped.

"Great." He sighed as he looked at his pants. It was soaked and so we're his. He grabbed her floating shoes and offered her a hand.

"If I harm you. You can kill me. " He said and she looked at his hand. "I don't have powers. I'm lame." He joked and she smiled.

"Okay." She sniffed and grabbed his arm. He opened the door and the water was in the corridor as well.

"Get Rupert. " He mumbled to the guard and he rushed towards the wing in which the lab was situated.

"Rupert?" She asked and he looked at her.

"He's a Robot. He cleans the house. " He told her and she nodded.

"You have robots?" She asked and he smiled.

"We have robots." He said, giving her hand a little squeeze.

He had to be careful with her. She had a Rahe problem. She wasn't trusting him fully but at least she was letting him in.

Sarah herself was not sure if he was a good person but at least he didn't slap her or shot a needle at her. She got a new room, the walls were off-white, a soft carpet sprawled on the floor, there was a shelf with a few books and boxes. An off white coloured study table and an odd White Queen size bed made of pine wood took space in the room.

Sarah looked at the boxes curiously but she couldn't reach it. She looked outside the window and she could see a massive garden with a fountain in the center. It wasn't working but everything else looked beautiful.

A knock startled her. She looked at the door as Maxwell came in.

"I brought you your bag. I got you some clothes." He said and she grabbed the clothes from him. She unfold the clothes and nodded.

"Thank you." She said and he nodded.

"You want me to put your things in place while you change?" He asked and she looked at her bag.

"Wait." She said pushing his hands away from the bag and he chuckled. She took out a necklace and a piece of red cloth. Maxwell frowned at the piece.

"Now you can touch it. " She mumbled, eyeing him skeptically and he cleared his throat.

She went into the bathroom and changed. She wore her mother's necklace and stuffed the piece of cloth in her pocket.

"These are boys clothes." She said, coming out of the bathroom, looking at herself in the mirror.

"I'm sorry. You have these two shirts and a pair of trousers. Is that all you ever had?" He asked and she looked embarrassed.

"Yes." She whispered, snatching away her belonging from him.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. I didn't mean to offend you." He apologized to her. She stood in the corner with her things in hand. He walked towards her and gently placed his hand on her wounded hands.

"Let me. Why don't you make a list of things you want and we will go and get them." He offered her and she shook her head.

"I don't want anything." She said and he sighed.

"Alright. I'll get it for you. You want to put your things yourself? There's a closet in your bathroom." He said and she nodded.

"I'll go and get some food ready. Rupert will guide you to the kitchen." He said and left her alone in her new space. She wiped her tears as she looked at her stuff.

"I miss you mommy." She whispered, kissing the necklace. She put her things according to her liking and lied on the bed. She felt tired and lonely. She looked out of the huge window as she lied down.

Her door opened and she got up, a huge grey Robot came in. It was rectangular shaped and she showed her excitement through a smile.

"Hello. Miss Maxwell. I am Rupert. The house keeping robot of this house. "

"Hi Rupert." She greeted him.

"Will you follow me? Master Maxwell is making pasta for you." He said. Sarah hopped off her bed and followed him. Sarah asked a series of questions and Rupert kept answering them. Sarah was intrigued to see a real life robot. It was just like the robots she used to watch in movies.

Early in the morning, Sarah woke up and decided to walk around the mansion. Every corridor had two guards. She counted that there were 6 robots in the house doing different chores.

She discovered a library, full of books. Laptops and computers were placed on a large table. She knew how to turn on a computer. After all she used to go to school before she lost everything. When she didn't find anything interesting. She switched it off and went out of the library. She saw two robots working in the kitchen. One must have malfunctioned because it wasn't scrubbing dishes rather itself.

She saw 5 huge frames in the south corridor. Two women and three men standing pridefully in those pictures.

"These are the five masters who created this replica planet." The gaurd said as he caught the girl looking at the pictures.

"Why isn't Maxwell up there?" She asked and he didn't reply.

"Hello?" She waved her hand at him.

"He's not a creator. He's a successor. " He answered and she frowned. She sighed and opened the huge door in front of her. The door led to the garden's backside. It was similar to the garden in front of the house but instead it's fountain was broken. The flowers were pink and red like the one in the front. They were blue and white.

"You like it?" She looked at the man, who asked her. It was Maxwell. He had a big box in his hand and he knelt down near her.

"Yes. " She said and he hummed. She walked towards him and sat next to him.

"I got some stuff for you. " He smiled . There were clothes, some toys and books. All necessities like toothbrush, hairbrush, socks, accessories and shoes. She went through the stuff and he placed his hands lovingly on her head.

"You might want to put these things in your room." He said and she nodded.

"Thanks." She mumbled and he smiled. He helped her carry the box and she started walking.

"And Sarah? Once you're done. Come back out here." He said and she looked perplexed.

"Why?"

"You'll find out." He smiled and she nodded skeptically.
