Light

Eris looked into the dull face. It's featureless blankness regarding him, flat eyes and lipless mouth pressed tight to almost invisibility. A cool breadth escaped the pale lips, "awake at last Talent Aurion? You would do well not to doze on our only other copy of the Secreta of the Lightless Crypt". The nasal voice carried in the close quarters.

Eris blinked, rubbed the sleep from his eyes, and blinked again. Gathering his thoughts, he replied, "dozing, Teacher Morvis? I think not, merely pondering the true secrets of the crypt." He stretched lazily, spreading his arms along across the small stone table and slowly sat up to regard the average figure of Teacher Morvis, High Librarian.

"Ahhhhh of course...." began Morvis as he waved his hands, causing the soul link lamp to burst into life and shower the enclave in it's rust-red hued light. "...I should have noted", Morvis continued, "your heightened state of thought from the darkness of the room and the loudness of your snoring." Morvis picked the tome off the table and began to leave. " Frankly Aurion, I do believe your time would be better spent strengthening your soul binding, the way you are now, not a single person would imagine you are a member of clan of Auron ."

Eris blinked slowly and rubbed his eyes once more. Morvis tutted disapprovingly and padded out of the enclave, his gray robes flapping, leaving Eris alone in the steady red glow of soul-light. Eris Aurion, he thought, descendant of Rucker Auron himself, a great legacy to uphold. He smiled at himself, snorted and pushed himself off the uncomfortable stone slab that passed for a bench in Morvis' library. He waved his hand at the lamp and it flickered. He waved thrice more before it finally went out. Maybe Morvis did have a point. His soul binding maybe wasn't as efficient as it should be. Eris shrugged and left the enclave, heading towards the library exit.
