Prologue

2069 AD, Democratic Republic of Congo:

"Sir, the second line has been taken!"

"Send heavy machine guns from the third line to cover the retreat!"

"Command, positions 7 and 8 say they are already trying!!"

"And the others?"

"They reported they can't transfer firepower!"

"Shit, ask for artillery cover."

"Position 7 just reported that they failed, the survivors were wiped out. They chose to blow themselves up with the bugs!"

"Damn space cockroaches!!"

"Commander, the third line requests reinforcements, they won't be able to hold!"

"Make them hold! The fourth line is not ready yet. Send the MBTs and request concentrated artillery fire at the ship's exit!"

"Yes, sir!"

"Commander, the third line... it... it's been broken! The bugs have opened breaches and are passing through them!!!"

"What the-"

"The fourth line is being attacked, the rest of the third is surrounded, they request extraction!!"

"Hold your positions!! No retreat is allowed! If we lose here, the entire continent will go to hell! WHERE THE FUCK IS THE ART-

"ENEMY ARTILLERY!!!"

"LOOK OUT!"

There was a blast and suddenly the world around the commander began to spin. It was like he had taken a kick from the strongest horse right in the middle of his chest, only a hundred times worse. Darkness and a ringing in his ears were all the commander could discern. (Damn fucking shit. Where are the reinforcements?) he thought just as the sound of something dragging itself overcame everything else. Opening his eyes, a vision of hell surrounded him, dismembered body parts and organs everywhere, screams that would make the cruelest man feel pity, pieces of steel and something that looked like what was left of his command tent all over the place. His second-in-command, at least the upper part of him, was trying to escape as fast as possible, but with his legs missing it was kind of difficult. Something sharp like a spear and so dark that it was only possible to distinguish it at night thanks to distant explosions pierced his abdomen and lifted him screaming. The subcommander took out his 9mm and began shooting at the beast over 3 meters tall, trying to prick a blue whale would cause more damage and be more sensible to do. Knowing that the effort was futile, he put the gun under his chin and pulled the trigger, like a puppet with its strings cut his silence was somewhat deafening. The beast seemed to be making a noise with its jaws clattering together as if it was fun for it. All this scene lasted less than 5 seconds, but it seemed like an eternity to the commander. In the distance, a roar that seemed to make the earth tremble sounded, something that seemed to embody humanity's deepest fear. As he turned, he saw a titanic monster coming out of one end of the ship, it seemed to be over 80 meters tall, but from the distance he was it could easily be more. In all his 4 years of fighting these things, he had never seen such a creature. That was when he understood, all this time, these bugs had never taken them seriously, only sending the smallest ones they almost exterminated the humans in Africa. Turning back to the bug near him, he knew there was nothing that could save him or any of his troops in combat now, he had received the highest command of the ground security forces and also knew what to do. He turned on his radio

"Eagles, Operation 'Dawn' authorized."

"Sir, you're still in the area-

"I REPEAT, Operation 'Dawn' authorized."

"Understood, sir. ETA 60 seconds. Rest well, General!"

Taking advantage of the fact that the cockroach seemed to be somehow worshiping the titan in the background, he took the opportunity to open a channel with all his troops.

"Gentlemen, this is Army General Andrada, commander of the ground defense forces at this time. Operation 'Dawn' has been authorized, you have 50 seconds to evacuate the area of effect, good luck and it was a pleasure fighting alongside you."

A small silence followed, broken by an audible sigh even with the sounds of combat.

"Ha, my parents always told me to be a doctor, I should have listened to them."

"Command, I can't leave now, my wife would kill me if she knew I came back without finishing this infestation."

"Well, someone has to keep them here until the Eagles arrive, right? A job like any other."

"Marshal, no one is leaving, we fought a good fight, it is our honor to fight alongside you."

"ETA 5 seconds."

A loud noise was approaching, more than one. 4 BlackEagles hypersonic bombers were approaching. The titan seemed to have noticed the sound and sent some kind of command to the other insects that retreated and were huddled around the ship, as if to protect it.

Each of the 4 hydrogen bombs launched had the power of 2 Tsar Bombs, and targeted the four corners of the ship and would detonate at the same time.

The general knew that the communications were being recorded and said, "To all human race, good luck and happy hunting."

It was the first moment of peace he had in over four years, only broken by a pang of sadness, knowing that his son would now grow up without a father.

This is my first time writing, and it isn't even in my first language, so I apologize for any mistakes. I am trying to determine whether it is worth continuing this story, so any criticism is welcome!
