“It might be touch and go for a while, but we’ll see how he is in the morning.” Tony gave Dennis a hug.

“Can I sit with him?” Dennis asked, knowing he would sneak in if the doctor said no.

“Yes, you can, but you have to speak to him quietly and leave every fifteen minutes because there are other patients in the unit,” Dr. Emmza said.

“Can I get him a private nurse?” Dennis persisted.

“Yes, but they are very expensive.” Dr. Emmza looked at Tony.

“Get a good one from an agency, three a day in eight hour shifts. I can pay. I want him to have the best care possible.”

“Don’t worry, Dennis. Isaac and Steve will give him the best of care,” Tony told him. “I’m going to make phone calls. Should I call Mary Katherine and Nora?”

“Yes, but not my ma and da. Da has a bad heart and may not take the news well.”

“Can I get you coffee?” Tony asked, looking around for the coffee pot.
