While the sun set on Blackthorn University, Avery couldn't shake the feeling that their best journey — and most challenging challenge — was still ahead.
Little did she know how quickly that challenge would arrive.
The first tremor struck just as Avery and her companions were walking slowly back to their dorms, exhausted from their multiversal struggle. At first, they assumed it was simply tiredness making them wobbly. However, the ground lurched again, this time more violently.
"Earthquake?" Lucas inquired, his voice tight with struggle.
Before anyone could react, the sky lit up with a strange, pulsing brightness. Avery's heart sank as she recognized the apparent signs of truth fracturing.
"No," she whispered. "It can't be."
However it turned out. All around them, the material in their world began to tear. Fissures in the air reveal visions of other worlds past, some familiar, some completely bizarre.
