No coincidences

Athena woke up to three faces staring at her, she looked at them warily before scooting back on the bed and sitting up.

"What happened, do we need to go?"

"No, no umm are you alright?" Evans asked and then Athena nodded with a confused look in response to the question.

"Alright since you're up, let's go test out your core okay" Raven said.

At the back of the house, the boys surrounded Athena and instructed her on what to do, at first she was confused but then she got a hang of what to do.

"I don't see any core, is that possible?" After saying that Athena paused, waved her hand, the guys could see ripple-like movement in the air but had no idea what it represented.

"Is that possible, I don't even have a core though and I can't tell what power I seem to have gotten" she continued, forgetting the fact that she didn't get the power due to the red moon.

They all fell silent for a while, thinking about the abnormality that occurred but couldn't seem to figure it out, meanwhile Athena felt like she had the answer right at her fingertips but couldn't seem to grasp it.

"Don't worry about it for now, since we all can't figure it out, time will tell since there's no such thing as coincidences, for now both you and Damien will train with your guns and then we'll leave here in a week" Raven said

"Oh right we'll also be looking for someone, he's a diviner and he has answers we need" he continued before he walked back inside to prepare lunch.

Evans went to the study to check if there were any news of a base creation or from the military or the government, while Athena and Damien went to the gym to practice.

Late at night, the mansion was pitch black, in the study all three men were there discussing what happened with Athena

"She didn't remember anything when she woke up, she looked like she was in a lot of pain when she screamed" Damien said scrunching his nose.

"It's alright if she doesn't remember, and if there is anything I've learnt so far, seers see the past, future or the present and what's forgotten would be remembered, when necessary, besides I think it's a good thing, I don't want her to have a lot on her mind". Raven said to which Damien nodded to but Evans was still worried.

"What about the fact that she does not have a core, she's supposed to have one, I'm confused, her dad did mention she will have a core, the number he said was a secret, so I'm confused what went wrong?" Evans questioned as he was very much confused.

So far the knowledge they had about the apocalypse and other event all came from Athena's parent and that's what they were relying on, Evans was worried that somewhere sometime during the red moon a butterfly effect occurred and, he was not sure how much of the future had already changed.

"Leave the core issue aside, she's capable of protecting herself even without powers is she not? and we're also going to protect her, we'll face it as it comes, stop stressing yourself over all this" Damien said before he stood up, to get ready to sleep.

"Let's try our best to retain the smile and little innocence Athena has, she looked happy and cute smiling back then" Raven said, his face blooming with parental love shocking both Evans and Damien as they had goosebumps growing on their skin.

They both had an awareness that even though Evans was loud and he looked reliable and Damien looked like he'd murder you and you won't even know how you died, they could not surpass Raven in all aspect, he had the face of an angel but he was really demonic, he lacked basic emotions due to his past so he worked mostly with his brain, so the fact that his face was blooming with the love of a mother/father was shocking to them, they even felt a bit worried for Athena. Both hurried out of the study to fight for the room closest to Athena.

In a military base two middle aged men could be seen discussing.

"What's our next course of action, we are aware that according to the reports the civilians are starting to gain superhuman abilities with core formation and even some of our own soldiers are starting to gain their abilities, our men are also dying we need more reinforcements, but the other military bases already have enough of their hand to assist us" said the man with white hair

"We could use the civilians as reinforcements, since they have gotten their abilities and in order for us to protect them, they need to work for us, we'll spread the word about opening a base that accepts civilians and when we have accepted enough, we'll shut the gates and tell them what our criteria's are," said the bald-headed man.

"Seems like we have a solution, we should make this announcement in the coming week"

Athena lay in bed, thinking about why she didn't have a core and why she felt like she was forgetting something, her chest also ached badly but she couldn't figure it out, so she let it be.

She fell asleep, then found herself in a vast land with tall grasses, trees and butterflies. She looked around and walked towards a small stream, she was aware that she was dreaming or witnessing something important, so she waited patiently by the stream. Not long after, she heard horses galloping coming towards the stream, the horses stopped by the stream to drink, while the riders came down to take a piss and drink. They were three men and a woman; Athena couldn't see her face because she was covered in a veil. The men seemed protective of the woman, and it looked like they couldn't see her either.

They were whispering amongst themselves, and Athena couldn't hear them, but she had a sense of foreboding before she heard a whoosh, and it happened all too fast an arrow pierced the lady's chest before she fell several more arrows whooshed by and within a matter of seconds, they were all dead.

Two minutes passed and she could hear people running, several armored guards came running to the scene and among the armored men one fell to the ground while crawling to get to the lady on the ground, he looked like he was in pain and truly he was in pain, he was bound to the lady that was already dead and with every passing second he felt like his soul was being ripped apart.

"Iubirea mea, nu poți pleca, nu poți muri" he cried while hugging her limp and cold body. Translation: my love no you can't go, you can't die.

He kept on sobbing, while hugging her body, soon the sobs turned to sniffles and the sniffles turned to rage.

"Blestem, blestem, mama pământului pentru că i-a lăsat să-mi ia dragostea"

Translation: i curse this land, i curse mother of the soil for letting them take my love.

He stood up while carrying her body, placed her on his horse then told the other to take the three other bodies of the men accompanying the lady, then they rode away, the scene changed, and Athena found herself in a castle that was burning, with bodies littered everywhere.

She walked further inside and found herself inside a throne room, she saw the same man that was sobbing, standing Infront of the throne with a sword and bodies were littered everywhere, he was also bleeding but he stood firm, there was also a man sitting on the throne, he was also defenseless, the man on the throne should be king she thought.

The man on the throne was indeed the king, he had a calm expression, his gaze was empty and bottomless, and he sat on the throne like he wasn't about to get killed.

"Do you confess to the killing of the priestess?" the man with the sword asked

"Yes i ordered her to be disposed of, and you know very well why" he replied like he was asking about the weather.

"Because you could not gain her heart? is that the reason, how could you be so cruel?"

The king laughed, it was mirthless, and it sent chills down Athena's spine for some reasons.

He was about to respond but he glanced behind the man and locked eyes with Athena's very own, he smirked lightly, if Athena had not paid close attention to his face she would have missed it, the smirk made her shocked and she kept asking herself if he could see her.

He glanced back at the man with the sword and said "If that reason be enough for you, then that is reason enough, so now carry on with what you came for"

This seemed to enrage the man as he got really upset before he rushed towards the king and stabbed repeatedly at his chest region, the king in question had a slight smile on his face as he was killed gruesomely.

Athena looked on with a confused expression as she couldn't make out what just happened, just as she was about to leave someone came running into the throne room, he looked like a priest, but Athena knew he was a seer.

"What have you done? no no no, you've ruined everything"
