Chapter Ten:She's Special.

Earth hasn't been the most conducive place for a highly ranked angel like  him to live in,but it was much much more adaptable than living in heaven where it wasn't peaceful as people portrayed it to be.

His father, who was assumed to be the next in line after his grandfather's reign, changed drastically after involving himself with a demon woman from hell.

That had been the breakpoint of things for his father,he knew full well what sort of abomination he was committing, but love is such a strong force and doesn't listen to opposition.

Crystal Palace had been his home right from birth, until the war for the throne between  his uncle and father had left his father,nearly dying after being poisoned by his stepbrother,the new king of heaven.

He didn't like the violence that followed soon after that,his father had turned much more into a revenge seeking monster than focusing on the prize,which was getting his position back.

What sort of angel would he be if he supported evil,an evil that has come  to consume his father,and unfortunately his siblings too.

He had wondered how exactly it had been for his father , especially his younger brother Killian,who might be in charge of carrying out his dirty deals.

He refused to be that part of such an atrocity,and had rather dwelled between the Humans and adapted to their way of life,which was the best thing that ever happened to him.

Aside from the limited lifetime they had, humans  are interesting creatures although they were bad ones among them,but he had been working undercover by settling the balance between good and evil.

That would lessen the amount of angels who come down to earth,to do the work.He didn't want anyone finding out about his whereabouts,and as well letting the information get to his father.

Sometimes he had always wondered if there was any slightest chance that his father might be looking for him.After All,he betrayed them,so there's no point trying to think that he would do that.

That's what he thought,until he met her.

Lily Hayes,the human who saw his inner soul that no normal human being,was capable of doing.

At first he had thought that she was a spy sent by his father, but after watching how clumsy and badly the whole team he was leading on  as the guest treated her.

He was rest assured that she was nothing special, nothing special!

But the moment his eyes fell on her,and had found it more questioning that he couldn't be able to read what's going on in her heart,he was strongly convinced that she was something else…that had intrigued him to know her.

He wanted to unravel everything about her,the moment she saw his eyes because if he could vividly remember he didn't let her in to do that.

So why?

Why exactly did she see his eyes, and have not gone crazy yet  for seeing something so sacred?

The first human to have eventually done that,had gone crazy and had ended up taking his own life by falling to his death.

It was a mistake that he couldn't forget all his life, but it was not entirely his  fault that the nosy human had followed his instincts, and walked in on  him banishing a possessed soul to hell.

Maybe in his next life,he would mind his own business but that's not possible,they are always a curious creature that doesn't think of the consequences of what might happen,but just follow their stupid instincts.

But she's different,and why is that?

Dwayne was in deep thoughts, having his quiet time to himself while using that to cover up the fact that he was waiting for her to wake up from her sleep.

She had been sleeping for six hours since she fainted,it was nothing serious and had a very good heartbeat from where he stood,he could hear the heartbeats of every living creature in here.

Moreover, that's what the doctor who the team leader, Malcolm had called had said,she was too stressed up and needed a break from everything.

Thanks to Malcolm who had  done a lot by sending her around like some beast of burden,he didn't know what exactly was her place within the company affairs.

She was working her ass off,like she was freeloader under the company and had to pledge her loyalty to work,and that made him sick.

But he also didn't want to associate himself with the matter's of human beings.In a more detailed approach,he didn't want to give mixed signals to the female folks here on earth,who always misquotes his intention for them.

His beauty and manly aura always seem to attract them to him,and he didn't know if that was a side effect of living here too long.

But he won't go against the law by falling for a human,like the queen of heaven,Nimue had done in the name of love.

So, there's no chance he's giving it to anyone…

"Mr.Black?"Nadia called his attention, cutting his thoughts short before he turned to look at the woman,who he figured out was Lily's friend.

She had a big wide smile on her face,like some highschool girl who just received a date night out with the hottest guy in school.

It didn't take long for him to read her thoughts,and could literally see her doing a happy dance just for being able to talk to him.

He tried giving her the cold shoulder,that would eventually make her understand that he's not interested in the likes of her.

That was what should be the best option,but no..

He didn't do that,he rather choose this given opportunity to figure out what her friend was,who knows what he might find out from her.

She looked like the chatty type.

Smile Cain!

He mentally scolded himself,and before he knew it he was smiling back at the  brunette in front of him.

"I figured out that you are probably worried about L, seeing as you couldn't be able to sleep?"She asked,before raising a can of drink to him.

"Here,it will help with insomnia ,'' she added.

"Actually,I don't.."He tried declining, but the drink was shoved in his hand anyway, and that made him figure out the difference between both friends.

Lily was calm,and unusually quiet,while brunette was loud and a little bit stubborn.

"How's..your friend?"He asked, trying hard to not sound like some worried friend when he's not.

He's not her friend,she's nothing but an interesting woman that had caught his attention that he might probably end up killing, once she wakes up and doesn't explain to him how she got to see his eyes.

"She's still asleep,but will be awake soon i guess,you don't have to be worried that much Mr.Black"She said, turning to face him with that look on her face that made him know that humans were up to something fishy.

"L and i go way back,so this is nothing compared to what we have gone through,She's a strong woman"She explained,but her second line got his interest.

"What exactly…have you guys gone through?"He asked curiously,this is it!

She's going to spill things about her friend,and he couldn't wait to hear that,but he had a change of mind and doubted if she's going to do, that because of the sudden quietness on her side.

He could get the  information he wanted by compeling  her,but he didn't want to go through such crooked ways.

"You are an angel Cain,not a demon"He reminded himself,and was relieved when she scooped closer to him while checking her surroundings.

What's wrong with her?

He didn't know.

Is she trying to kiss me?

He thought loudly.

No!

She didn't have such intentions written on her face,until she's within his ear reach.

"This was meant to be a secret but i don't why I'm spilling it to you though"Nadia said lowly,blaming her chatty mouth for not having control.

"L is no ordinary human,she sees and feels things that ordinary human beings can't see,She's special and…"

Nadia was cut off by the sudden ringing of her phone,and she pulled back by lighting up  a big smile on her face when she saw who was calling.

Her newest fling.

"That's it,bye!"She told Dwayne, and in a twinkle of an eye was running back to her tent with Dwayne getting half of the story, and was eager to know more of it.

He wanted to know more,more!

"Special you say?"He said, rubbing his jaw, not believing any of  what her friend just said.

He wanted to figure everything out by himself."I will get to find out soon,"He said, turning to face the position of where Lily's  tent was.

"Whether you are indeed special or another nut job i will have to get rid of.We will see about that,Lily Hayes"
