Glacial Wolves

"It's been about 97 years in your time," he said and continued to fly into different rifts on the wall. "Wow, so you survived on the hares and other animals?" Flora asked flying behind him, and he smiled saying, "Yes." She smiled commenting, "You don't talk much do you." He nods before turning a corner.

However, before Flora could follow behind him, he stopped, and she looked up. "Stay behind me," he said as he extended a hand to stop her from flying ahead of him. She frowned backing up slightly as she glanced ahead to see a group of three giant glacial wolves fighting against one.

"We can go this way," Azrael said as he looked at another rift. Flora nodded following behind him taking a longing glance at the wolf thinking, "I am sorry, I am not strong enough to save you."

Azrael glanced at her, and he noticed she wasn't looking at him. He stopped asking, "Why would you want to save that wolf?" She looked at him before she closed her eyes saying, "It seemed like it needs help plus it's all alone, but I am not strong enough and I can't save it to only let it suffer in my care."

He looked at her expression it was a sad expression, with a soft smile, he smiled at her saying, "You never know if it'll suffer or thrive, plus, you don't have to be the strong one, come."

He reached for her hand softly holding them as they flew towards the wolves. It didn't take much but a wave from his other hand as the shadows gathered underneath the wolves creating a barrier around the small one. Then the shadows shifted as they engulfed the small wolf's shape, making it bigger, as the others backed up before running away the fear clear in their eyes.

"There, the rest is up to you," he said as he let go of her hand. Flora smiled flying forward as the shadows disappeared into the ground and she walked gently towards the wolf.

It was large, larger than the ones she had seen on other planets, it was also different. The fur was pure white with hints of silver on the paws, and the same red eyes as most other creatures on this planet. It backed away shifting a little and that's when Flora noticed the blood on its tail.

She backed up before slowly reaching forward as she said softly, "I am here to help you, I know it hurts. It'll be okay, relax," and with each word she took a small step forward. The wolf eventually stopped moving looking behind her and Flora smiled as she turned asking, "Azrael, could you keep guard, please?"

He nodded waving a hand before turning around as Flora walked forward waving a hand as the wolf floated before she laid her down on the ground. "It'll be okay, I promise it'll be okay," Flora said gently as she gently stroked its head before casting a numbing spell.

Azrael waited for hours checking every few minutes before Flora called out saying, "Azrael, we are done, you can lower the wall." He flew down and she smiled calling him over, as she finished healing the wounds on the large wolf.

"Flora, how are you feeling?" He asked as he glanced over at the pool of blood on the ice. She smiled saying, "I am fine, but I don't think she's going to heal within a few hours, I tried everything to heal her wounds she got from the others, but she lost a lot of blood giving birth."

"The little ones?" Azrael asked and she said, "They were all healthy, but I made sure to heal them all just in case." He nodded as she got up. Flora shook her head as she felt a little dizzy and he reached forward holding her. Flora sighed asking, "I might not be okay, can you help me with something?"
