The palace guards were dismissed several minutes later after the king announced that the new head would be chosen a week later after considering a few factors.
It caused a commotion among the attendees. Most didn't want to address the issue, but some started a hushed discussion regarding the matter.
Simeon kept a straight face. He addressed his comrades like he used to and held no ill will against them. To prove himself innocent and still eligible for the promotion, he must be mindful of his actions.
As he walked back among the others, a heavy arm draped around his shoulders, pulling him aside.
Simeon gave the other person a sideways glance. It was Silver, one of the guys who was with him when the king summoned them to his study.
"I thought I was done for," Silver whispered to which Simeon replied with a scoff.
"The princess reported what she saw and thought wrong. Our conscience is clean."
