The Demon Twins

"I've heard the rumors but you two truly look nothing alike." "Does it matter?" "I suppose not, kill me off then." "It's my turn, Louis." "Get on with it then." With a loud laugh, the giant man brought down his hammer. With a squelching sound, a head was ground to a paste. This story centers around twins, starting off from their youth they go through a gradual progress in getting stronger. The stronger they become, however, they realize more and more that they will never get peace. *** Disclaimer: Firstly, this is my first long novel. This story will be slow, hopefully, I can do proper world-building. Power progression also won't be all too fast. I have no editor, so grammar might be off at some places. Hopefully, you'll enjoy reading it.

Chapter 4

Dinner time ended quickly after that and they all went to their rooms, Mallory deviated from the course that the twins took with the butler. Although Arthur looked a bit confused Louis quickly pulled him forward to match the butler's pace.

Mallory quickly arrived before Darion's room, knocking four times she waited until Darion allowed her in. The two locked onto one another and pulled each other closer. Darion whispered softly, "You're the only one that lets me feel at peace after that goddamn war." Wrapping her arms around Darion and resting her head on his shoulder, Mallory gave a twisted smile.

The trio quickly became used to life in the mansion. The only time that they were required to do something was eating at the dinner table together, the rest of their time was to be used as they pleased. Mallory spent most of her time with Darion while the twins were left to their own devices.

"During our time here we are no longer our mother's sons but rather Aunt Mallory's nephews," Louis said to Arthur. Arthur nodded and asked, "Well what should we do while she's with Dorian?" "Well Mallory said to learn how to read and write," Louis replied. Arthur followed Louis as he went to the butler. After having his request to have a teacher granted, Louis and Arthur went back to their room.

"We'll have to be going to school from next year Arthur before then we need a lot of things done," Louis said while holding fragments of ice in his hands. "Like what?" Arthur asked while similarly holding droplets of lava. "According to Mallory, the basic fundamentals should be done, like reading and writing, we also need to have better control over our attributes. We start school together once Arthur becomes six so we have about a year."

The twins and their mother felt that a year had passed quite quickly, during the year Arthur had nodded off during their lessons a total of 322 times, exactly every lesson. While Arthur had nodded off he had somehow learned basic math while Louis had enough time to learn advanced maths after having learned how to read and write. Mallory on the other hand had made rapid progress with Darion and became pregnant, much to the first wife's jealousy.

The twins and Augustus' relationship had become rather cold due to their mothers' dispute. The three of them would be attending school for the first time today. "If you solidify your position early on in your life, not as many people will be jealous if you find success later on. Always try and maintain first place," Mallory said while looking at her twins. Arthur seemed quite worked up while Louis calmly took her advice to heart.

The twins quickly made their way up the steps to their classroom. After having a look around Louis found that including his brother and himself there were only a total of 34 students in the room, 32 students would be his competitors for the next few years. A man came into the room exactly as the long hand of the clock struck three.
