If she hadn't been there before, the bond he had just established between them promised she would always be. He could never choose another vampire mate as long as his bond with her remained unbroken. There would be only her for him.

The delight that understanding brought her was nearly unbearable. It warmed her heart while awakening something raw and primordial within her.

"You're mine now, Dimitri." As he drank, she tunnelled her fingers through his hair, holding him to her throat. "Mine, my lifemate."

Dimitri moaned, still rocking on top of her, their bodies inextricably linked. His strokes became more intense, as did the suction of his tongue against her vein. The combination of feelings overwhelmed her with yearning, rekindling her desire.

"Oh goodness me," he muttered, his deep voice gravelly, his breath hot against her throat. His tongue swept over the twin punctures, closing them shut.
