Metal wrecked behind them. Blanca stole a glance over her shoulder. Three gigantic machine-like creatures stood under the hole in the ceiling. They shared as much in mutual with Mr. Robot Guy from upstairs as a wolf shares with a dog. They looked less humanlike, more cobbled together, but as enormous as an SUV rather than a sedan.
"Oh, my God, Dimitri, what the hell is that?" Blanca muttered.
"I think the freak machines are drawn to the statue," Dimitri explained. "To this place of impure magic and contaminated technology. They were attracted to the magical barrier."
"Ok, so, now what?!"
He smirked at her, taking her sword. "I'll handle them. You worry about shattering that seal," Dimitri told her.
She kneeled her head against the luminous door and squinted. She opened it and gasped at what she saw. "Dimitri, I don't know if I'm seeing things but... I'm going in."
