When Morgana entered the room with the final boss, she instantly noticed something was wrong.
The room was supposed to have one throne in the back where the boss would sit and come back to life as the challengers entered the room. However, there was no skeleton sitting on the throne.
The torches that were supposed to light up with her presence didn't produce a single flicker. Luckily for Morgana, her firefly flew around the room quickly and lit up the torches to illuminate the room.
Behind the throne, she noticed a shadowy aura emanating intense pressure.
"That doesn't look like the boss I was waiting for…" she muttered before quickly opening her Admin screen and switching back to her classic "set 1."
Seeing a hooded figure materialize between the black and red mist, Morgana used her appraisal skill.
[Wraith of Anguish - Level: 115]
"How the hell did you get here?" asked Morgana with a tinge of worry in her voice.
"Wraiths of Anguish" were monsters that only appeared in two different areas in the world. The Swamplands and the Mist Forest. Both of which were on a completely different continent.
These monsters were not bosses. Instead, they were just powerful enemies that roamed these high-level areas. To find one at the bottom of a crypt on another continent was something Morgana didn't expect.
She wondered if the monster had made it there by itself after a century of roaming around or if someone had somehow placed it there.
'I'll have to think about that later. I got bigger problems right now.' she thought, noticing that the wraith had fully materialized behind the throne.
His face looked like a disfigured old man with a perpetual expression of anguish, as his name suggested. His black hood fell to the ground, leaving a trail of shadows, and held a long but thin sword that emanated with dark power.
She quickly opened her item box and pulled out a short black sword, thinking about how it would be her best bet in such a cramped space.
The sword was level 100, so it wasn't the most optimal weapon she could use. Nevertheless, Morgana trusted that it was her best choice.
While it wasn't a max-level weapon, it was still considered rare since it had a special effect that made it stronger against "ghostly" enemies.
Morgana smiled at the thought of the challenge before her. The monster was at a higher level than her, but only by a small amount. Thanks to that, the wraith would be much more resistant to her attacks, but that didn't mean he was impervious to them.
That also meant that the wraith's attacks would deal considerably more damage to Morgana. However, that would only be relevant to her if the wraith managed to land a hit.
'When fighting a monster that's higher level than you, the only thing you can do is not get hit. Simple as that.' she thought momentarily before the monster launched at her with a fast stab.
Morgana was quick on her feet and avoided the shadowy blade, countering with her own and exchanging a barrage of attacks against the wraith that collided with the monster's weapon.
Their quick strikes from the blades clashed, resounding all around the room and creating shockwaves of power that destroyed the rocky environment around them.
The trickster was focused, never taking her eyes off the monster's blade that swung in her direction at incredible speeds. Making her believe that a single sword was simply not enough if she wanted to kill the wraith.
With an evil grin, she used the skill "blink" to move away from the monster's barrage and dropped her sword on the ground right in front of her.
Now that she was level 110, she had access to a new curse that she hadn't been able to use before.
She remarked how lucky she was that the roots warned her that something strange was happening in the crypt. Thanks to whoever tried to seal the dungeon, she decided to wait for her last day to venture into the final room, and it paid off.
"Curse: Void Blades," she commanded with a chilling tone at the same time the wraith had launched at her from the other side of the room.
In that quick moment, Morgana felt a sharp pain in her hands, and a blood spurt gushed all over her. Staring at the two big nails that had stabbed through her hands, preventing her from using them, she clenched her teeth.
Simultaneously, behind her body materialized dozens of small void portals where different arrays of swords sneaked out and flew straight toward the wraith at incredible speeds.
The skill "Curse: Void Blades" was a curse skill that, in return for leaving the user's hands useless, they would be able to summon dozens of flying blades and control them. However, Morgana had forgotten how painful it was to use.
As the wraith deflected the attacks that swung at him from all directions, he kept trying to reach the trickster, who tried her best to keep her distance while maintaining focus on her swords.
However, having so many weapons attacking him at the same time proved to be a good strategy, as the monster got one of his arms sliced off, and another sword stabbed him in the back.
Managing to reach for an attack, the wraith swung at Morgana, who avoided his swings with her hands to the side, immobile, and stepped back right at the spot where she cast the curse.
The monster deflected the barrage of blades with a yell of anguish and launched itself toward the trickster once again. However, right at that moment, Morgana canceled her curse.
Her flying swords disappeared, and the nails that went through her hands dispersed into thin air.
She crouched quickly, avoiding the wraith's piercing attack and grabbing the black sword she had dropped on the floor before slashing upwards—the force of her swing raising the ground beneath them.
As the blood from the gaping hole in her hand slowly healed from the skill "shadow mend," she turned around to look at the decapitated wraith and his body slowly fading away.
She sighed, her hands now fully healed, and heard the voice in her head telling her that she had gained two levels.
'Two whole levels!? Not bad,' she thought with a smile.
The treasure chest that was supposed to appear after defeating the "Kartan Skeleton King" materialized in the center of the room, and Morgana looted its contents to see if there was anything valuable.
However, all she found was three thousand aetherium and four blue skill books.
'I guess I can give this to the kids to learn a new skill…' she thought before saving all the loot in her item box and leaving the dungeon.
