The anticipation almost killed me but the kiss I was waiting for did not arrive. Wait! I was not waiting for it. I meant the kiss I was dreading for, did not arrive! I peeked at the man who was looking at me with amused eyes. His eyes were filled with mirth and I realized he had once again made fun of me.
"You?" he raised a brow when I called him accusingly. that brat! he was playing with me now! did he think i was an easy target. hmph!
"You did it knowingly." I snarled, not ready to give it away as i showed him my new set of canines.
"What did I do?" he asked back and I bit my lips. There was no way I was going to speak it out loud that I supposed he was going to kiss me.
I had even visualized it. Oh my. Now I need to wash my eyes. I shook my head and jerked him off from above me.
There was still a smirk on his face when he moved to the side. I could feel his eyes following me everywhere. I did not know why but it gave me a strange feeling. The awareness that I was being watched all the time by a mythical being was making me shudder from inside. How long could I survive this?
I had marinated the meat before he was gone. I took and tried to adjust to the barbecue when he stood up. I could feel the thumping of my heart when I felt his footsteps coming closer.
His shoulders bumped to mine as he moved towards the barbecue. I swore to god that he did it knowingly.
"Let me do it." He took the meat from my hands. His hands touched mine for more seconds than needed. Even when he moved towards the barbecue with meat in his hands. I could feel his lingering touch on my skin.
Why was my breathing still too hard? I could not understand why my body was reacting so strangely when he was around?!
My mouth ran dry as he took out his shirt again. His taut muscles of back flexed as he moved his hands and I licked my lips again as my mouth felt further dry.
He did not even turn back once as he continued to grill the meat. After what felt like an eternity, I got hold of myself and walked towards the lake on the other side. The moment I turned, I felt his eyes on me.
But when I turned to look at him. He was still busy cooking the meat. I shook my head. Am I having delusions now?
I bent down to drink some water. I missed the cups and glasses. Was I going to drink the water like animals all my life now? I was wondering when I felt his smell again. Oh lord! Was it.. He leaned on my side and started drinking with me.
This was the first time I realized that even water can get stuck in my mouth. Thank goodness, he did not notice my uneasiness. But I had to control my emotions. I think these wolves are touchy people as they often sniff me and touch me.
I had to be habitual of it before reaching the pack he was talking about.
"The meal is ready." he whispered in my ears. Once again he was too close to my liking. I took a step back only to stumble on the wet soil. Wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to his chest.
"You are too clumsy. Shall I keep you in my arms, all the time?" his words touched my neck as he sniffed me again. His actions were like an addict who often finds reasons to sniff out opium. He kept holding me even when I had stabilized myself a long ago.
"I will manage. How could i let you worry about such a small matter.'' I replied awkwardly. But his hands still did not loosen or let me go.
I craned my neck to look at him when I stumped for words. He was looking at me with burning eyes. A glint passed his eyes that I could not understand but he was looking dangerous.
I could not say a word, only praying in my heart that he would finally let me go after a while but he continued to hold me while looking deep as if searching for his answers.
"Why are you so afraid of me?" he whispered again under my neck. His hot breath continued to caress my bare neck. It took all my strength to shake my head. Why was he so close to me? It was colluding all my senses.
"I am not afraid of you." I replied and he chuckled. His moving lips touched my skin in a way I could not explain.
"Then why is your heartbeat too fast?" I forgot that the capacity to hear dogs was peculiar. Could it work the same way for him too? Dread flashed my eyes but I had to control it or he would catch my lies.
"You are too close to me!" I replied and thank god the sound came stronger than i had thought.
"Is that so? But I can smell your fear too. Little pup!" he added and I gulped. Was there such a thing? Since when fear had its distinct smell?
I looked around at a loss of words thinking of an excuse. If i did not reply to him, his thoughts would be confirmed only.
"I am afraid of being abandoned again!" I replied in a low voice. This could sound valid right. A little girl left alone in the wilderness by her family. His expressions finally softened and I took a deep breath of relief but I kept my eyes low to look pitiful.
"Do not worry, little pup. I will never leave you alone. I will be with you 24/7 all my life."
"........."
