"What are you waiting for? Are you not hungry?" I wanted to tell him that even if I was hungry, my hunger died with the way he killed animals with his bare hands. The blood was coloring the whole ground red and he was holding raw meat in his hands.
I couldn't help but feel nauseated. "I am not hungry. I have eaten before coming to the clock tower.`` I replied as I took a step back ready to leave. He leapt high in the air, and in the next second he was standing in front of me.
He was looking at me with a piercing gaze, "even if you are not hungry, shouldn't you be enticed with the smell of meat and blood?" I wanted to tell him that those were the things that killed my hunger in the first place, but I was scared that wolves would not work like that.
"Well I had a lot of meat before meeting you. And I am trying to maintain my diet. I do not want to lose my.."
"Figure?" he shook his head as he looked at my slim waist. I wanted to tell him that I was talking about agility due to fat but like always he imagined things and I got a leeway.
"I do not understand why our clan was getting worried about figures like humans. We do a lot of exercise to maintain our body. And yours is managed well though.`` I wanted to cover my chest and the way he was looking at me pervertly.
"Come and eat with me." he ordered in an authoritative tone. I looked at the animal whose insides could be seen. I wanted to deny it once again but I could not look at his grim face.
"Uhmm, mr wolf." he snapped his head towards me and glared, "what kind of honorifics were that? Aren't you a wolf too?" then his tone turned sarcastic as he called me, "oh i forgot that you are a chimera!" I gritted my teeth and his insult. I did not want to be any of that. I wanted to be a simple human and ran away from here.
"Ethan!" I looked back at him. "Ethan Crowfard."
"Mr Ethan! Why don't we cook it before eating? Its taste could be improved through spices and we can even add different flavors to it." i tried to entice him by informing him about different flavors, meat could be cooked in while he continued to look at me dumbfounded. It was clear from his expressions that it was the first time a wolf had offered him to cook the meat.
Did I make a mistake?' I laughed awkwardly when he did not reply, "it was just a suggestion, you can ignore it if you want." his eyes narrowed at my face.
"Have you ever been with humans to know this much?" What was I supposed to say about that? Of course, I had spent all my life with humans but with my current look it would be hard to imagine myself among humans. So, I shook my head. But that only increased his suspicions over me.
If I did not think of any excuse then I was sure that his claws would pierce my stomach next.
"We have a chimera that has lived with humans and was a good chef. He cooked meat so well that I learnt a few things from him. He made me so addicted to his cooked meat that it had been long since I had eaten raw meat.`` I spouted everything I could. At that moment he was not looking less than a grim reaper who could cut my neck any moment.
"Tsk tsk.. These humans and their habits are addictive but do not forget that we are wild animals not tamed and pet ones.'' The sound was filled with disgust toward humans and once again I felt my life swinging on a thin rope.
I nodded, realizing that I had to eat raw meat for the first time in my life. When he sighed.
"Fine, cook meat for both of us then!" he waved his hand in the air pointing at the meat and I blinked. Did he just agree to eat meat with me?
But then it dawned on me that he had asked me to cook meat. Thanks to the services of Nathan! Not even once had I tried to cook. He had always taken care of my every need which made me lazy to my bones. Now he wants me to cook in the wilderness without any appliance, utensils or spices?
"How would I do that without spices?" I asked only for spices as I was sure that wolves could not have appliances or utensils.
He rolled his eyes as he looked at me.
"You sound like a nasty princess who could not be happy no matter what and tends to complain about everything. You are the one who wants to eat cooked meat. So. it is your responsibility to know how to cook that." he put all the blame over me. I wanted to tell him that I did not want to eat in the first place. It was him who was forcing me to eat!
But all the complaints died in my mouth when I contemplated what were my chances of winning against him and the result came out negative!
Thank goodness, I was studying as a herbalist, so I knew about a lot of plants and herbs. I looked around to find something worth eating and found a few good herbs and plants that could be used as spices.
When i came back after collecting a lot of leaves. He had already lit a fire and had set up a barbecue. Now it did not need to lie about how to set it. Phew! How I was walking into thin ice these days.
I sat down to cut the meat into thin pieces to marinate them when he observed from afar and asked,
"Why do you cut the meat like humans?"
