The group of lighting hawks whisper between each other as they keep a close eye on Mors.
"It looks like he is going to keep his promise."
"Idiot! How can you trust the words of an other worlder! He has an army of ghost! This surely all part of his plan!"
The beastman talk witch other as they continue to keep a close eye on their target. Their conversation slowly turning a heated discussion. Only the shock of precise lighting produce by their leader stops their conversation from getting any louder.
"Idiots, our job here is to keep a watch on him! Not to fight between ourselves! Now all stop talking or else we will be exposed!"
The lightning hawks nod their heads with seal mouths. Their leader is one of the strongest males in the village. A personal guard to the village chief. His strength physical strength does not outshine his natural talent in lightning magic.
The hawks continue to watch over Mors. But as the night goes on, it becomes harder form some of them to stay awake. Their leader, the lightning hawk that goes by the name Dhan looks at his man as he gives a simple command.
"We can't go on like this, the night is still young. 3 of us will sleep while the other 2 will stay and keep watch. We will alternate every 3 hours."
The soldiers nod their heads as they took their positions. Dhan and two others felt asleep as they left two hawks to keep watch. But almost like fate, the two that were left awake the two that distrusted Mors the most. Their eyes did not leave the body of Mors for a second.
Their mouths move as words left their throats.
"This is our change… we can save the village if we just kill him now."
"Just think of the treasures we will get once we bring back his head."
Their words have become poison to their own minds. Clouded by illusions of glory. Clouded by false fantasies. Embolden by ambition. Blinded by distrust. The two lighting hawks have sealed their own fate without them even knowing. The hawks left their tree branch as they few towards the tree were Mors is.
They landed on the tree branches and looked down on their prey. In their hands were their wooden spear with sharp metal tips. The hawks look at each other for a split second before flying down on their prey. Mors had his eyes close, there was no way he could see this coming!
Swish!
The sound of sword clashing against flesh and cutting it echoes through the forest. Blood rain down on Mors body. His eyes open as two corpses crash down next to him. Their heads separated from their bodies and their red blood painting the ground.
The large thud of the bodies hitting the floor woke up the other hawks. Who once saw the scene bellow them, flew into a rage. Mors eyes landed on them, all of them felt the scythe of the grim reaper press against their necks. Mors summons six copies with bows and arrows.
The copies shot at the flying hawks, wounding the wings of the two weaker hawks, But Dhan was able to block the arrows with his spear. The spear seems to have lightning infuse with it. As the wounded hawks crash to the ground, breaking several bones and damaging their organs. Two copies of Mors appear next to them as the copies deliver a swift death to them.
"Bastard! You lied to us!!!"
The hawk said as he strikes Mors with the lightning enchanted spear. The lightning spread through Mors body as he blocks the spear with his red sword. The lightning burns his muscles and cook his organs. Mors jumps backwards, making some space between him and the hawk.
Mors summons more of his copies and command them to attack Dhan. Dhan looks at the copies for a second before spinning his spear around. This phenomenon attracts the attention of the ghost, who fearing for the worse started to rush over to Mors position.
20 lightning strikes came from the sky and hit the area around Dhan, who seem to be not affected by the sky's wrath. In just a second Mors was forced to retreat a couple of feet as he watches his copies become nothing more than a distant memory.
Smoke covers the area as eerie silence consume the battlefield. Mors summons more of his copies as he sends them to attack the figure that is hiding in the smoke. Before his copies can enter the smoke pile, Dhan flew from the smoke and towards Mors.
Dhan skin become blueish, his muscles were denser and more pronounce. Lightning now seems to emanate from him. Dhan soon reaches Mors as he started attacking his spear. The strength and speed behind each attack were enough to force Mors to become serious.
Mors dodges the attacks with beautiful dance like steps. With soft swings of his sword, he will block the spear's attack. The sound of battle become an organize song. Dhan changes his pace as his attacks continue to get dodge. He digs the butt of his spear into the ground as he uses it for balance.
Holding onto the spear he lifts himself up from the ground and started to do lightning-fast kick attacks at Mors. Mors summon three copies on top of himself. Enchanting his compact powers and providing protection from the lightning kicks.
Mors takes a couple of hits from the kicks, as his body get affected again by lightning. Mors clicks his tongue as he jumps backwards. Taking a breather as he changes to his spear.
"Two can play that game."
Mors enchants his spear with Qi as he makes a long translucent blade come out of the tip of the spear. Mors swings the spear at Dhan. Who with quick moment flew to the sky, grabbing his spear on the way. Dhan looks at Mors from above as he flew towards him once again.
Mors takes a step forward as he aims his spear at the upcoming Dhan. Mors does a throwing motion as the spear goes flying towards Dhan. The lightning hawk calls for a lightning strike. As the heavens answer him without a delay. The lightning strike hits him, making him stronger that before, his body slowly approaching its limit.
He hits the spear with his own lightning enchanted spear. But before the spears meet, Mors spear disappear midair. Dhan eyes widen as he focuses his attention back on Mors. Only to see a bow in Mors hand. A single dense Qi arrow left the arrow, its target no other that Dhan.
As the arrow flew, it started to split into countless multiple arrows. A shower of arrows was the only way to describe it.
'Shi-'
Without being able to dodge, Dhan tries to destroy as many arrows as he could with small lightning balls. But the arrows prove to many for him as his body started to get pierce by the arrows. But blood did not flow from him, no, as the price of enchanting his body with lightning is heavy.
He could see light fade from his eyes, color drain from his vision.
"No!!!!"
The dying lightning hawk scream out his last word as he flew towards Mors. His brain slowly shutting down. His heart slows down. Mors clicks his tongue as he gets ready to shoot another arrow. Once Dhan reaches the halfway mark between death and life. A large lightning strike hit his body.
The heavens demanded its compensation for its help. Dhan body started to bloat with magic.
"Shit!"
Mors turns to the beach as he started to run towards the ghost ship.
"Take cov-"
Before Mors could warn the ghost, Dhan body exploded into a fury of pure lightning magic. The area around him become consume by the magic. A shock wave of pure lightning spread through the surroundings. It passes through Mors, some unlucky ghost, and the ground itself.
Mors bites his lips as his body gets cook from the inside out. The unlucky ghost that got hit transform into blue smoke as they return to the underworld. Mors eyes become heavy as he falls to the ground. Not noticing the [Blacken Sand] that form beneath his feet.
'Shit…magic…is strong….'
