I walk back to the horse and begin tying him from the fence.
"He's pretty," I tense slightly shocked by the voice, I turn and see Koa.
She's holding a large ugly bay mare. Straggly black main and tail, legs sticking out all over the place and a big brown bucket head. Her only slightly redeeming feature is her coat, which was a bright brown.
The way the horse stands makes me smile slightly, legs clumsily thrown everywhere. Head held high and cocked to the side. The mare looked more like a big dog. A very big ugly dog.
"I didn't see that one tied up, what are you going to call her?" I ask.
"Izzy," Koa replies with absolute certainty, "Dizzy Izzy that's her name. What about yours?"
"I'm not sure yet… maybe Jasper. We used to have a Jasper at the yard, does he look like a Jasper?" I ask unsure.
Koa stands on her tiptoes to get a better view of my horse from where she's standing, "I think so… is that it then? Jasper?"
I nod slightly more certain now, "Yes Jasper, that's his name."
