The lie

"Have you become weaker now dear marina" marina heard a voice from behind her to have her flinch as she abruptly turned to see Ronald standing in front of her. When did he walk in?

"Your highness!" Marina bowed using the sides of her skirt to clean her dirty hands.he was the last person she wanted to see right now but look! here he was, standing inside her little room. "What brings you here...….."

"Your little magic didn't work.which makes me wonder if I should start looking for a new which"Ronald cut her short as he now walked closer to where she stood while she took a step back away from him as she gulped down hard a frown coming to form up on her face.

"That's not possible,it did work! Unless......"she paused, staring at him with squinted eyes "unless you did something to trigger the memories back.the magic isn't that strong especially with the fact that you're a vampire"marina said a sweat dropping on her face. she didn't want to die yet.

A dead silence followed them after and Marina could see him sigh with a frustrated look. "I can redo the spell if you wish your highness"Marina offered seeing the way he looked somehow upset which only made her question who the girl was. Why was he trying so much to erase the memory about her?

"That won't be needed"Ronald said curtly, but marina could feel the emotions that ran within them although she couldn't comprehend the actual meaning which it meant.

Meanwhile,Cathy who had returned from work called for her parents as she now walked towards their room knocking on their door to hear a subtle reply from Mona who lazily stood up from the bed she was lying on to go open the door to see Cathy in front of her door.

"Your back! How was work?"Mona asked, wondering why she was here. "Work was fine mother but I have something even better"Cathy replied with a smile to see Mona who now looked at her with a curious look.

"I have been invited to a camp. I think it would be lovely to go,"Cathy said, beaming her smile while Mona turned her head back to look at her husband who had been listening to them all along as she raised her eyebrows at him.

"I would really love to go mother…. please?"Cathy pleaded and she saw her mother's head turn back to look at her. "A camp? I haven't heard of one who is hosting it?"Mona asked, staring intently at her daughter who held an unfaltering smile.

"A church. It is a church organizing it, "Cathy said while Mona stared at her for a reasonable amount of seconds before nodding. "Alright! But when is it?"Mona asked, getting somehow curious. It was hardly you would see a camp event being held and honestly,one wouldn't lie it held a great amount of fun.

"Tomorrow! Which is why I have to start packing.see you later"Cathy said in a rushed tone giving her mother an airy kiss on her cheek before dashing away. Once she was out of sight,she breathed out relieved her mother had agreed.She didn't want to waste any more time here as there was no guarantee he wouldn't make an impromptu visit to their house in the middle of the night.that was how crazy she knew he was! Cathy had come to know that.

"And where are you running to?"Cathy heard Hailey's voice as she came into view with her eyes narrowed down at her while she put on a bright smile. "I am preparing for my camp trip"Cathy said to have Hailey's brow deepened.

"Since when did you start attending camp"Hailey asked with a baffled voice."Since tomorrow I am sure you will miss me"Cathy said to earn a little laugh from her sister. 

"You wish dear sister,you wish"Hailey smirked with a proud look but deep down she knew she was actually going to miss her. if they ever traded sisters,she wouldn't dare! "So you're leaving tomorrow?"Hailey asked to confirm to have Cathy nod.

"Good luck then"Hailey only said as she walked away while Cathy followed behind her. "Oh please! I know you will miss me"Cathy pouted trying to poke her sister. "Stop buzzing in my ear and go pack your stuffs"Hailey answered without turning her back to look at her.

The next day arrived much earlier than Cathy thought as she quickly rose up to her feet.she had packed up the little clothes she would need and didn't bother carrying anything else as she now went to shower. She made sure all she did was fast and quick as she didn't want to stay here any longer. She just didn't want the man to catch UpTo her thereby ruining all her plans after all it had all been running smoothly till now.

"Maybe you should be granted wings so you would fly there seeing as you just can't wait to get out of here"Cathy heard her sister comment even though she was still lying on the mat as she turned around to see her sister's eyes already opened. "Am only trying to keep to time"Cathy replied as she now took the sack of clothes in her hand offering Hailey an airy kiss with her hand. "See you soon sister" she said about to exit the room but her sister was quick to stop her.

"Stop right there! aren't you going to tell our parents?"Hailey inclined as she now got up on her feet making Cathy wonder what she was trying to do. "I will go and inform them I am leaving now"Cathy said as she turned walking away but also noticed Hailey was now walking beside her to have her turn to her as she smiled.

"Missing me already?"Cathy's lips pulled up but she saw Hailey shake her head "I don't trust you,come on move"Hailey shooed her to move along as they now went to knock on their parents door.

The two greeted their parents as Cathy informed them she would be leaving while they gave her their blessings as Cathy was now free to go but she noticed Hailey still following her. "Am not a child Hailey"Cathy complained with a frown but Hailey dragged her along instead.

"I just want to see you off to a point you know ... .so they won't kidnap you"Hailey said to Cathy grin.she knew her sister was already missing her, she just didn't want to admit it. "I know you adore me and all that Hailey but you don't have to be so clingy"Cathy said and what landed on her shoulders afterwards was a smack.

"You know what,just go get out of here"Hailey said as she turned her back harrumphing walking away not bothering to tell her goodbye.

Cathy internally shook her head as she moved her feets along the road.she decided to take a short cut as it was rather easier and quicker to get to the bus stop from there but people didn't really pass here because it wasn't safe.but she would take the risk anyways.it wasn't like she would lurk around the palace and call for trouble on her own. 

She directed her feets towards the lonely road while her eyes kept looking back and forth trying to make sure she was cautious of her surroundings. She heard a sound coming from the bush but she had discarded it as an animal who was probably trapped and was trying to find its way out. The road was lonely as no one moved or passed near her since the time she had been walking but she didn't let it scare her.

Sometimes she had wondered why the people of her village decided to tag the way as dangerous since the only incident that had happened when a woman's baby was stolen from her by some men.She didn't completely believe the story as there was in fact no evidence. She had wondered how it was possible for the thugs to carry out their plan with so many people walking around as at the time,many people still used this route but ever since she gave that testimony in which no one else could prove they were a witness to,the villagers had stopped passing along this road.

Her feets gently clicked on the floor as she made sure it was steady but at the same time fast paced. It wasn't safe to tread along a road this empty. She was about to make a right turn when she felt someone drag her arm. Her mind had immediately gone haywire fearing it might be the person she was trying to run away from but upon meeting with the person's eyes she saw it was just a strange man who now tightened his grip on her arm as he was about to drag her but she was quick to bite his arm to have the man wince letting her go.

"Look,she's a fierce one"she heard his accomplice say as the both looked at her with an amused look now walking towards her while she continued taking many steps away from them. "She would look lovely on my bed don't you think peter?"she had one ask the other who nodded at his words his lips pulling up in a smile as he looked at her in a lecherous way.

"Don't touch this one Manny,I will look for another girl for you but this one...she is mine" the so called peter said with a somewhat possessive tone which made Cathy clutch on to the sides of her dress.

"Ridiculous! I will have her,you can look for another girl for yourself"the man replied as they now both turned to each other giving themselves a deathly stare while Cathy took the opportunity to run as she quickly made a turn towards the direction she was heading to before they had stopped her. "Fool! Look,she's getting away"she heard one of the men say as she now felt them running after her. There was no guarantee they wouldn't catch up to her anytime soon. What should she do? Cathy almost panicked before coming to an abrupt stop as she turned to the two men who had also stopped running wondering why she had suddenly stopped running for her life.

"Giving up so soon?" Peter was the one who asked with his lips pulled up as he was now walking towards her but he saw the girl reach for her pockets only for him to see a small knife being pointed to his face to have him let out a small laugh.

"Don't come any closer"Cathy warned, flinging the knife in the air but Peter was too skilled to stop at such a petty threat as he continued walking towards her. "Am warning you...don't come any closer"Cathy threatened but the man only made more steps towards her and then finally he now stood where she stood.

And just as he was about to reach out and grab her while making sure to avoid the silly little knife she pointed at him, the same knife had come to stab his thigh. He groaned in pain as he bent to hold his injured thigh. How was she so fast? 

The other one who had seen what the girl had done stepped back holding a bewildered expression.even he,didn't know when the girl had bent over to stab peters thigh as he now watched her point the knife at him with a threatening look "you better don't come after me unless you want the same thing to happen to you" he heard the girl warn him as he watched her flee from there while not moving an inch from his spot to stop the girl. Never in his life has he seen a girl this ruthless!

"You fool. Won't you come and help me up? '' he heard his other one yelp in pain trying to get up as he had fallen on the floor due to the severe pain. "I didn't really think she would actually do it. '' Peter muttered under his breath with teared filled eyes while he kept panting like a girl.
