Poker Face

The girls are now practicing. At this wide, practice room that a normal club wouldn't get. Well, It's been almost a month since we had that topic, and by those girl's teamwork, they were able to make a great combination.

There's a rule at the league that you can only use original dance and songs. I'm not bothered by it, really. We have one whole month to prepare. That's plenty enough time.

We were able to make our first song, thanks to Yumeko Arimoto's composing, and Nakano Urara's dance steps. I think that Ayano Katachi doesn't really do anything special. She just makes the group cheerful by her cheerful attitude. In short, she's supporting them by moral support, but she doesn't do anything despite being the leader.

Now, I need to do my part too.

"I'm going to head out now!"

"Good luck!"

Shouted by Ayano Katachi. It doesn't make me feel better. Because I feel like my luck is already trainwreck too. If It's not, then I should be living normally.

"You'd better draw a good opponent!"

Said by Nakano Urara. I don't really know what she's thinking sometimes. But I think she wants me to draw us a nice opponent. I'll do what I can.

"Do your best!"

Said by Arimoto Yumeko. Yeah, I agree, I should do my best. With that, I left the school early and rode a train to get to my destination. Where am I going, you ask? I mentioned to the girls that a lottery will be happening to decide your opponents.

This is it. I'm going to the place where managers will draw their lots and find out their opponent for Round 1. Round 1 is a very crucial round. Because this round will decide your starter rankings. If you win, you'll have a bit of a headstart and It's already an advantage.

We're finished if we're matched with a popular group, no one will bother to watch us at all. Of course, there's a possibility that this a cheated system, where they'll somehow pair all of the beginners with the veterans.

I don't know why they're doing this system. They could just pair all of us even without the lottery. But they didn't do that. Why?

While I'm thinking here, I already reached my station. I stood up and left the train, then walked towards the place. We already registered ourselves as participants so naturally, I'll receive a text message that points out the destination.

After walking for a bit, I finally reached it. It's a real tall building but I think we're only using the event room. I entered the building and asked a staff about the location of the event room.

It seems It's located at the 13th Floor. What a drag! Good thing elevators exist. Of course, I opened the elevator. At the elevator, there's a tall young man, probably the same age as me, and has a blonde hair. I don't care enough so I didn't looked at him too long.

I didn't minded him and just stood at the elevator. The elevator finally started to move and goes up. As it goes up and up, I noticed that this blonde is occasionally looking at me. A coincidence?

Before I knew it, we already reached the 13th Floor. I stepped out of the elevator, leaving the blonde guy alone. But the moment I set foot outside, he whispered a strange thing:

"Well, misfortune always strikes people who can't defeat it. Including you."

After that, the elevator closed and continued to go up. What's with that?! Misfortune!? Saying strange things like that, must be a con-artist.

With that, I continued to walk and looked for the event room. After walking for a good 6 minutes, I already reached it, the event room. Well, there's a sign here, so I know that It's the event room.

I didn't even hesitated to open the door. I opened it and saw this very huge room where an estimated 50 people gathers. Must be the managers or representative of each group.

I noticed that there are seats at the front so I've gone ahead and took a seat. Some people are sitting like me, but some doesn't. Maybe they like standing up than sitting?

"Hello, are you a beginner?"

Apparently, someone talked to me. His face tells me that we're just the same age. But his way of talking, clothing and others does not. It's more like he's an adult businessman.

He has coal black hair and black eyes, the features of a Japanese man. He has a white skin but It's obvious that he used a ton of drugs or vitamins. A normal Japanese man wouldn't get a white skin like yours.

In the end, I decided to ignore him. Like i said, this league is basically crushing beginners. If they're somehow controlling this lottery to make the veterans and beginners face off, then I need to be cautious and observant.

For starters, I won't give any information regarding our group. I'll seal my lips completely.

"I see, a beginner."

What!? I didn't even talked yet! How the hell did he came at that conclusion!? It's too early to arrive at that! It's true that staying quiet for too long will arouse some suspicions but It's only a little while since he came to me. Just while I'm thinking of what I'm going to do, he continued to speak:

"You see, a word of advice from a veteran. If you want to survive here, at least, learn to make a Poker Face.Your emotions are clearly in show."

What!? What did he mean by that!? When I already decided to speak to him, he already left. I just came back to my own seat and thought to himself:

"I might have entered the den of devils."
