Dabbling in alchemy

---Godrick's Hollow, Ollivander family's house---

After Shane named the Valravn, suddenly inside came Olivia with clothes for the golden haired boy.

"What's your name little boy?" she asked blocking the rest of the family trying to enter the room.

"Kyle!" called out the golden eyed boy cheerfuly.

Afterwards Olivia explained to others, that Kyle was the Valravn bought by Ollivander, and it's just that he transformed beacause of Shane's blood.

Then, they tried to make Kyle choose himself a room, but after seeing how far he will be from Shane, he hugged his leg and said that he will only sleep in the same room as him.

That led to a weird scene of Olivia trying to convince Kyle to let go of Shane's leg.

Shane, however was reading a book completely unresponsive to what was happening around him.

Finally Olivia agreed to Ollivander adding one more bed to Shane's attic, and Kyle was happy with that.

'I wonder if his transformation works like animagus' thought Shane watching Kyle playing with Emily.

Even thought he was a dangerous magical beast, his mind was at a level of five year old and he was also very playful, even for his age.

Kyle looked at Shane smiling happily, seeing his master looking at him.

---Seven months later---

Shane sat in his attic perfectly focused on his work.

In front of him on the special table made for runic craftsmanship, laid a wooden bracelet, on which there were carved intricate patterns.

'It's still not good enough' thought Shane comparing his design to the actual work 'My hands are too clumsy for such delicate carvings'

Since a few months ago Shane started studying runes even more after seeing all of the prospects they can bring for a young wizard like him.

After some research, he discovered that runic craftsmanship was surprisingly underdeveloped, not only in Britain, but also in the whole world.

During just five months he managed to go from a mere fledgling, to a master that knew almost everything about runes. He even started developing some of his own runes.

For now, he tried studying connection rune used in two-way mirrors. However he discovered, that they were terribly inefficient.

'So this is why everybody prefers using fireplaces to communicate' he thought dismantling the mirror.

Beacause the only runes used in the mirrors were connection and image it cost a lot, to produce a circuit laid out with goblin silver, to not cause overheating and explosion after a few minutes.

Shane decided to add chill and repair, but for now he barely managed to waste a few good mirrors, achieving results just half as good as the original.

"Shane, we're going to Diagon Alley today" said Olivia from the bottom of the stairs "Come down quickly"

The silver haired boy quickly put his most recent creation into the drawer, and walked down the stairs.

"Master, why did you leave me" sobbed Kyle in the corner "Please, let me come back" he shouted hugging Shane's feet, after he realized the object of his cries came down.

"Only if you stop jumping on the desk" responded Kyle with an indifferent face "You ruined three portions of materials"

As Kyle wanted to explain again that he was showing his superiority to Emily, came Ollivander.

"Are you ready?" he said, imediately walking down the stairs, not really expecting any answer. Shane followed with Kyle jumping around trying to show, how he is protecting his master.

After they came to the living room, David called out to Shane.

"Hello Shane, nice to see you after such a long time" he said in a joking tone "I thought we would never see you again"

Since almost a week passed, since Shane holed himself up in the attic, and started the experiments. The only sign of him being alive were the empty plates left outside of the door.

Beacause of such behaviour Kyle thought his master tried to escape from him, and the incident he didn't really care about the consequences of, came back to him twice as strong.

That made the golden haired boy increasingly depressed, as he slowly started becoming less and less energetic, finally not even wanting to eat, and scowling in his animal form in some corner of the house.

Now seeing him return to his cheerful self, even Olivia felt as if something missing before returned.

"Come on Kyle!" called out cheerfuly Emily, and started explaining to him how the Floo powder worked.

Afterwards, one by one they dissapeared into bursts of green flames.

After coming out of the fireplace, Shane immediately walked towards the alchemy and runes material's shop, Emily dragged Kyle towards the ice cream shop, with Olivia following her chuckling, and Ollivander took David to get his things necessary for his next year at Hogwarts.

As Shane walked into the store, he saw the owner of the shop Declan.

"Hello boy!!!" called out beaming face of a fat middle-aged uncle, who would look like Santa Claus, if not for lack of the beard and him wearing green costume, like some kind of Irish leprechaun.

"Did you really finish all the books I gave you?!" asked the owner with shock. After Shane's last visit he copied some of his old notebooks for him.

Declan was a person highly accomplished in runes and alchemy but as he said, it was a pity that he lacked a flexible mind.

Seeing Shane being so serious about alchemy and very knowledgeable for his age, he shared a lot of knowledge with him, and even gave him a partial discount, under the premise that if he develops something in the future, he will first bring it to him.

"Here sir Declan, you should check this" said Shane handing over two mirrors with wooden frame.

"Hmm, the clarity is very bad" said Declan after activating the mirrors "But don't be discouraged, it's still very impressive for your age" he added with a smile.

"It was made with wood and lead" added the boy.

"Hmm, fine fin... WAIT, WHAT DID YOU SAY??!!!" Declan's eyes suddenly widened.

He quickly took the mirrors to his workbench , and carefuly took of the part covering the runes, after asking Shane for permission.

"Hmm, such a great idea. Yes, yes why didn't I think of it before?" said the fat man with interest "Here, this line would work better if connected with patri part instead of ergo part" he added, slowly falling into the madness of alchemical improvement.

After a few minutes of explanations he suddenly woke up, and started laughing happily.

"Let's go boy, we are going to register this idea!!" he shouted grabbing him by his arm.

"But first we should develop it to be better, and steal all the market" he changed his mind almost instantly.

"Come on boy write to..., or not I will write to Olivia we are good friends, and she will surely let you stay for a few months!" he shouted taking out a piece of parchement and quickly writing a letter to Olivia.

Olivia came after receiving the letter, and after some explanations under her shocked gaze, and convincing Kyle, that he will return, she allowed him to stay for half a year, under a premise that he will come back every week.

During the next six months, Declan had his complaining daughter take over the shop, and they both engaged in the research.

Declan was shocked about Shane's idea to create a main connection hub, where everybody can connect their mirror, but finally they dismissed the idea.

Beacause of that Declan decided, that Shane should come back to him after he matures a little bit Hogwarts, and then they will develop it, since it would be useless to register it now, just to get competitors.

"See ya boy!" shouted the leprechaun colored man "Remember to write to me about your progress in alchemy!"

"Goodbye" said Shane while throwing the Floo powder into the fireplace, stepping in and shouting "Ollivander's house" and dissapearing into a burst of green flames.

After he came back Olivia started complaining about him going out for such a long time.

"Even though I agreed to that, I still didn't like it" she sighed.

"Don't worry Olivia" comforted her Garrick "Now you will be able to see him every day"

"Did I ask you for an oppinion!?" shouted Olivia sharply turning her head towards him "Don't you think I don't know you teased Mathilda when you went to buy an owl for David"

David turned his head away from Ollivander dragged away by his wife, shouting "Et Tu Brute?!?!"

"So, what's the name of your owl?" asked Emily looking at the bronze haired boy with curiosity.

"It's a snow owl, and I named it Zephyr" he said with pride.

"Hmph, it's still not as cool as Kyle" pouted the girl mad about her mother not letting her have her own pet.

David found himself at loss looking at the golden haired Valrawn, licking ice cream promised to him by Shane for listening to him.

Almost since the time Kyle first transformed into a person, nobody treating him as a pet. That feeling only deepened, as Kyle rarely returned to his animal form.

"Well, he is not really a pet, is he?" said the boy with uncertainty in his voice.

"I'm master's pet!" shouted happily Kyle, going after Shane who already retreated into his attic, ending the discussion with his brimming with energy voice.

----------------------

'I really don't know, why he didn't wake up yet?' Shane heard a voice, barely registering it with his not yet awake brain 'Normally he would already be up three hours ago, poor child probably was exhausted by that bastard Declan'

"Wake up Shane!" he opened his eyes seeing Olivia standing in the door "It's almost noon, and you are still in bed" she added.

'Look at those dark circles, is he sick? It's good that Kyle told me something is wrong, or I wouldn't know' again resounded a voice, seemingly coming from the silver haired boy's own thoughts.

After telling Olivia he isn't sick, and reassuring her into going back by drinking a bottle of fever medicine, he started rummaging through the books.

With his nearly, if not eidetic memory, he found out one particular french book, from the room full of them created by Garrick with traceless stretching charm.

Secrets of Mind, and Birth Talents Related to It by Lyam Omegamon

He opened the book at the fifth chapter.

----------------------

Natural Legilimens

This title refers to someone born as a Legilimens, this means that he/she has the ability to read other's minds from a very young age.

This ability becomes second nature to them, just like us when we look at someone to see how they feel and how we are supposed to act around them.

I'd say that it is purely instinctual behavior. It is not known, if natural Legilimency is passed on through the genes since the people with this talent are very rare, but considering that the condition of being a Metamorphmagus can be passed on to a child, it might be possible.

We can also theoritize, that it's awakening will cause mental exhaustion, similar to other natural mental talents like born Occlumens.

If somebody is found to posses this talent before they manage to control it, it can also be stopped with occlumency, or try Mind Containing potion, used to temporarily disable learned Legilimens.

Unfortunately it's unknown whether the potion can stop young natural Legilimens, beacause the only confirmed test was on an adult specimen. Unfortunately, it didn't work, resulting in massive leakage of governmental secrets.

----------------------

Having confirmed his conjecture, Shane quickly prepared the materials for the potion.

Finishing it, he drank it after hearing 'Why isn't master coming? Is he really sick? What should I do if he really is, what should I do?!'

After he realized that the potion worked and teling Kyle, who looked like an abbandoned puppy, to calm down, he walked back and opened a notebook with his goals written inside.

He crossed of learning Legilimency, and after some thought added developing Legilimency, albeit very far down compared to things like studying runes, or learning Occlumency.

He started scribbling different conjuctures, waiting for the potion to wear off, so that he can start discovering his newly acquired ability.

I don't have enough energy. I feel as if the whole thing went downhill after the second chapter... In da beninging I still had some hopes for my novel, but now I start to think I am not destinied to be an author, and I maybe should stick to studying medicine... Or maybe I should start another novel, for example a Rick and Morty one?!?!
