Nomsa said, "You couldn't even hold a cup of coffee steadily. Do you have deficiency of the kidney?" Douglas put the coffee cup on the table and said calmly, "You'll know if you try." Nomsa held her hair back and glanced at him. Then she walked towards the door and said arrogantly, "You're daydreaming!" Douglas was shocked. How dare she? Nomsa left the villa and let out a sigh of relief.
The enemy was like a spring. If you were weak, he would bounce back!
After talking back to "Douglas," she felt herself invincible. "Douglas" wasn't that scary! She wouldn't be threatened by him again!
...
She drove to the Jarret Group. When she was very young, she had been here with Vicky once. After growing up, she would only stand outside and look at the company every time she passed by. In the past, what she wanted most was Karen's care. She had never thought of getting the shares of the Jarret Group or working there. She didn't expect that Lynn would ask her to come back to work in the company. She took a deep breath and walked in. Without an employee's card, she was stopped by the receptionists, "Miss, may I help you?" Nomsa smiled at her, "I'm Nomsa Jarrett. I come to work here." Jarrett? The receptionist looked at each other. "Who is this?" Vicky's voice came from behind. She walked to Nomsa. After seeing Nomsa's face, she shouted in shock, "You! Who are you?" "Sister, I am Nomsa. Can't you recognize me?" Nomsa's voice was soft, but Vicky felt scary somehow. She took two steps back, "How do you become this?" "This is what I look like. Sister, remember my face. I am your sister. If you can't even recognize me, others will laught at you." As she spoke, she approached Vicky. Vicky was still shocked by Nomsa's appearance. She took steps back as Nomsa approached her. Vicky knew that those people hadn't succeeded in the Violet Gold Club that day. She couldn't believe it since she had planned well. How could Nomsa escape? Therefore, she asked Karen to invite Nomsa out for dinner. She wanted to see if Nomsa was fine. The receptionists were all shocked. Rumor had it that Miss Nomsa was ugly and stupid. Did she have plastic surgery abroad? Miss Vicky, who was arrogant and domineering in the company, seemed to be afraid of Miss Nomsa? Vicky came to herself and suppressed her anger, "You are my sister. I love you so much that I can even give you my fiancé . How can I not recognize you?" The topic that Nomsa stole Vicky's fiancé was trending online. But now Vicky said that she gave her fiancé to Nomsa.
Nomsa replied, "Thank you for your generosity. Thanks to you, I married such an outstanding man."
"You! "Vicky had always looked down on Nomsa. She always wanted to slap Nomsa when seeing her proud expression. Nomsa held Vicky's arm and smiled, "Sister, let's go upstairs. Dad is waiting for us." There were employees in the company. It wasn't appropriate for her to quarrel with Vicky here. Vicky didn't say anything and walked towards the elevator. However, they could still hear the receptionists discussing who was more attractive. Nomsa or Vicky? "I think Miss Nomsa is pretty good-looking. Did she have a plastic surgery?" "She looks quite natural!" "If she didn't have a plastic surgery, she is indeed more beautiful than Miss Vicky!"
Hearing that, Vicky shook off Nomsa's hand angrily and looked at her in distaste, "Don't touch me!" Then Nomsa patted her hand as if there was dirt on it. She found Vicky disgusting. Not only was Vicky flirty, but she was promiscuous.
Vicky was angry about Nomsa's behavior, but she endured it when she thought of Lynn's words.
...
After walking out the elevator, they went to Lynn's office together.
Although Lynn didn't like Nomsa, he still welcomed her with a smile, "Hello, Nomsa." His gentle attitude made Vicky unhappy. She made a cup of tea for Lynn and thumped it in front of him to express her dissatisfaction. Nomsa saw that and dismissed Vicky as reckless.
"What job do you intend to give me?" Nomsa sat down opposite him.
Before Lynn could say a word, Vicky said, "I know that the marketing department lacks a market researcher. Nomsa, I think you're always up for challenges. You can do this job." She was studying in the Hoover Film Academy, so she had no knowledge of marketing. And she also knew that market research was difficult. "You're young and really need to upgrade yourself. You can have a try. If you really don't like it, you can tell me later. "Lynn seemed to be considerate, but he actually had decided to have her do market research. Vicky and he were accustomed to the obedient Nomsa, so they wanted to scare her on the first day. Nomsa understood his trick. She said gratefully, "Thank you, daddy." "Vicky, you take Nomsa to the marketing department," Lynn said and then looked down at the documents. Vicky thought of what Nomsa was going to suffer and tried not to laugh, "Follow me." Nomsa wondered how obedient she had been in the past that they still thought that they could manipulate her. Appoint her as a market researcher in the marketing department? She only thanked Lynn for his "care" for her. But she did not promise to do a good job, right?
I'll Pick You Up after Work
When they arrived at the marketing department, Vicky took Nomsa to the manager's office. The manager was a middle-aged bald man. When he saw Vicky, he smiled obsequiously. "Miss Vicky, what are you doing here?" Vicky crossed her arms and pointed at Nomsa, "This is the new market researcher. You teach her how to do the work and take care of her." Although she asked the manager to take care of Nomsa, she seemed to be cold to Nomsa. The manager felt that he had grasped the key point and said, "I will take good 'care' of her."
"Then I'm relieved. "Vicky glanced at Nomsa and then left. Vicky's words made the manager even more certain that he understood what she really meant. "Goodbye, Miss Vicky!" The manager smiled and then looked at Nomsa seriously, "What's your name?"
"Summer Jarrett."
The manager sat down in his chair and sized Nomsa up. "Your surname is Jarrett? What's your relationship with the president?"
Nomsa was disgusted by his gaze and said coldly, "Just acquaintances." The manager was obviously a flatterer and idiot. No wonder the Jarret Group hadn't made any progress in the past few years. Just acquaintances? In other words Nomsa wasn't close to the Jarretts. The manager, who thought he had figured it out, smiled dirtily, "Do your job, and I'll make it worth your while." He deliberately emphasized the word "do" ,which disgusted Nomsa. But she didn't say anything and was led to her desk. After a brief introduction, she sat down and felt the gaze of her colleagues. They were curious about such a beautiful woman led here by Miss Vicky. Nomsa didn't care about this. After sitting down, she took a picture and sent it to Jessica. She texted," I'm working in the Jarrett Group."
Jessica replied, " What's your title? Vice general manager?" Nomsa texted, "Market researcher." Jessica was shocked and replied, "Why don't you be my assistant? I'll pay you 500,000 a year." Nomsa laughed. How could Jessica pay an assistant 500,000 a year? A colleague came over and said, "Nomsa, the manager asked you to go to his office. He had something to tell you." Nomsa smiled, "Alright, I'll go at once. Thank you." The colleague hesitated and gave her a look, indicating that the manager had evil intentions. Nomsa wasn't afraid at all. She knew that the manager was an incompetent and lascivious flatterer at first glance.
Moreover, she was prepared.
...
She knocked on the door and entered in the manager's office. "Nomsa, this is the documents that I have just sorted out. You take them back and have a look." Would he be that kind? "Thank you, manager." Nomsa reached out for the documents. The manager suddenly touched her hand and said, "Don't leave in a hurry. Let's talk about work." Nomsa wanted to withdraw her hand, but the manager grabbed it and said," Sit next to me. That would be better for us to talk." "Manager, please let go of my hand," Nomsa protested. The manager thought that he had given enough hints, and didn't expect rejection. His expression darkened. He forcefully pulled Nomsa towards him, with his other arm around her waist, "You heard what Miss Vicky said earlier. If you sleep with me, I won't make things difficult for you." "Oh?" Nomsa smiled at him and put her hand into her pocket.
The manager thought that she gave in and leaned forward to kiss her. But he suddenly felt numb all over and his eyes widened. He pointed at her and said "you".Then he fell to the ground. After putting away the stun gun, Nomsa stepped on the manager's body and walked out. The accident in the Violet Gold Club had taught her lesson. The colleague were all surprised when they saw that Nomsa came out so soon. Nomsa only smiled at them.
Just as she sat down, her phone rang. The number was a little familiar. Actually, she didn't want to answer it. But when she thought that she would meet the person every day, she picked up the phone and said, "Hello?" Douglas noticed her indifference and suddenly regretted having said that he was he back then. However, if she had known from the beginning that he was he those interesting things they had experienced might not have happened. He asked, "How was your first day at work?" Nomsa stopped flipping through the documents. He called just to ask about her first day at work? She closed the files and asked, "Is that why you called?" "Don't forget that you still owe me a meal. How about tonight? I'll pick you up after work." Then he hung up the phone and didn't give her the chance to refuse. Nomsa was somewhat puzzled. She had offended "Douglas" this morning. Logically speaking, he should be angry and then think of a way to deal with her. But he was calm as if nothing had happened. This made her a little flustered. "Guys, the manager passed out." The manager's office was not far from Nomsa's desk. She looked up and saw a woman standing at the door and calling for helping. Nomsa quickly looked down. In the end, the manager was taken to the hospital. Nomsa touched the stun gun in her pocket and found it powerful. The manager didn't come back in afternoon. Nomsa had a peaceful day.
...
After work, she met Vicky outside of the elevator. Nomsa had been looking though those documents for a whole day, so she was a little tired and didn't want to quarrel with Vicky. Therefore, she stepped aside and let Vicky enter in the elevator first. But Vicky didn't entered in the elevator. As soon as other staffs left, only Vicky and Nomsa were there. Neither of them took the initiative to speak. After entering in the elevator, Vicky glanced at Nomsa and asked, "Did the driver come to pick you up? If not, Jerome will pick me up for dinner later and I can ask him to give you a lift." Hearing this, Nomsa looked at Vicky in surprise. Jerome made up with Vicky? Vicky noticed Nomsa gaze and raised her chin proudly. "No need, " Nomsa said and suddenly remembered that "Douglas" had said that he would come and pick her up.
