"You little b*tch, do you think that I can't deal with you just because you have a bit of money? Get them!" Liu Chun wished she could chop the arrogant Xiang Wan into eight pieces. She waved her hand, prompting a few burly men to come forward.

"Especially that woman, bring her to me. After I've settled the score, I'll let you play with her." Liu Chun lured them with a sly smile.

Upon hearing this, the burly men's blood surged, and they pounced toward the other party.

"Stop! I dare you to come any closer!" Zheng Hui quickly reprimanded the approaching men.

"Old man, who do you think you are? Do you think we will stop just because you say so? Do you think we're fools?" The burly leader burst into laughter.

"This is the mayor of our Jin Gang District. Don't be rude!" Wu Feng shouted at them, summoning his courage.

"What? Mayor?"

"The mayor is here? How's that possible?"

Hearing this, the group stopped in their tracks, exchanged glances, and looked at Liu Chun, hoping she would provide guidance.

"You're saying he's the mayor? Stop fooling around! Do you think the mayor has time to deal with your little matter? That's just a ridiculous idea!" Liu Chun sneered.

"You're truly unrepentant! I want to see if you can still laugh in a little while." Zheng Hui's tone changed from slightly nervous to commanding.

Because he saw that his assistant had managed to gather some help.

Originally, he had brought some people with him on this trip as a precaution but he hadn't brought them into the village.

Firstly, having too many people would attract attention, and if they were noticed, it could spell trouble.

Secondly, it wouldn't be good to scare the villagers with a bunch of guards.

When he saw the tense standoff between the two sides earlier, he realized it was turning into a dangerous situation. He quickly signaled to his assistant to bring the reinforcements.

Initially, he had been quite anxious, fearing that if things got physical, Xiang Wan would be injured, and then he wouldn't be able to explain it to his superiors.

"Mayor, are you all alright?" the assistant panted.

"You came just in time, and you've missed quite a show!" Zheng Hui joked, "Surround them."

At Zheng Hui's command, the police officers formed a line and stood guard at the door.

"Do you even need to ask? It's something Liu Chun's family did."

"How many times has her family committed crimes? Every time, they come out unscathed."

Some curious villagers came with the police officers. Everyone was chatting animatedly.

"You… you're the mayor?!" Liu Chun exclaimed in disbelief.

"Impossible! You're impersonating government officials; you'll end up in jail!" Chen Zhuang shouted.

The men from Chen Zhuang's household, while appearing fierce, weren't skilled fighters. Coupled with the fear they now felt, they were quickly subdued by the police officers.

"You b*tch! You'll die a horrible death! You've ruined my whole family! I won't spare you even if I become a ghost!" Liu Chun, her hands cuffed, yelled at Xiang Wan with a twisted expression.

Xiang Wan absentmindedly rubbed her ear, ignoring her.

When Huo Xiao saw that, he stepped in front of Xiang Wan to shield her from Liu Chun's malicious glare. His brows furrowed in a stern gaze.

Liu Chun trembled in fear. Was this the same poor kid from before?

Why did his gaze seem so terrifying now? It was like an evil spirit torn from hell itself, sending shivers down one's spine.

In the end, Chen Zhuang, Liu Chun, and their group were all taken back to the police station. This organization had garnered extensive attention from higher-ups.

Watching them being escorted onto the vehicles, Zheng Hui wiped off non-existent sweat from his forehead. "This unexpected success is largely thanks to Miss Xiang's wisdom and wit!"

"Uncle Zheng, you're too kind. If it wasn't for your arrangement in advance, we might have already been beaten up!" she modestly replied.

Village Chief Wu Feng realized the gravity of the situation and promptly cautioned the villagers who had gathered to watch the commotion not to speak recklessly.
