""Fight! Fight! Fight!...""
Upon entering the main entrance, not even close to the stage, loud cheers escaped into the atrium. The loud chants nearly deafened Jake, which awed him, considering that nothing could be heard from the outside.
Feeling out of place, Jake waddled quickly across the atrium, trying to sink into the ocean of participants. Passing by him were macho men and women of all sizes, from waifs of steak and slim figures to Cyclopes hoisting their burly arms, expressing their muscularity, and even some of the feathered folk showing ultimates in order to frighten their foes.
Watching in awe, Jake acted like a country bumpkin who had only come to the city for the first time. Curiosity caused him to peek everywhere, making him incur the ire of many of the participants. The angry glares, however, did not dissuade him from his sightseeing.
As he wandered around the main atrium, suddenly a woman made of crystal popped up in front of him. Despite being dressed in formal attire, she seemed to evoke a sense of desire, the desire to conquer her, to make her their slave.
Jake also felt this desire but somehow managed to snap out of it. He shook his head, wondering what that was all about since he had never felt this way about any woman. The crystalline woman looked at Jake, her eyes flickering for a brief moment.
She took out a mini holoboard, held it in her hands, and asked Jake, "Hello, young man. My name is K'ristl, but you can call me Krys. How may I help you?" Snapping out of that stupor once again, doing a mini shrug, he answered, "Umm, I was told that there were sparring arenas here, where you can spar with others to, you know, possibly gain fame and fortune...?" Wincing at the end, he felt his answer was very cringeworthy.
Waiting for the inevitable chuckle, he was surprised that Krys simply jotted this down as a note. He asked her quizzically, "No laughter? No mockery of this?"
Taking her eyes off the board, she stared blankly at him before realizing that he was not joking. "Oh no, we take these answers very seriously, as every answer here possibly reflects the truest sense of desire. Now, why did you come here? (And no, this is just a personal question of mine; no need to worry.) I just want to satisfy my curiosity, that's all."
Jake took a step back in shock, for he had always expected her to be professional on Saturday and to not involve any personal feelings at all. He scrutinized her for a couple of seconds, wondering whether she was joking or not. After realizing that she was genuinely curious, he simply told her, "Because it was the biggest one here."
"Pfft, AHAHAHA! Ah, sorry for that. I wasn't expecting this as an answer. It's been a long time since anyone answered with such naivety. No need to blush; we're all adults here. Come, follow me."
Turning around, she quickly cat-walked toward a large gate, from where the cheers and shouts were the loudest. The bright light emitted from within nearly blinded Jake, but he still managed to enter through the doorway. After a couple of seconds of adjustment, what he saw next took his breath away.
Inside were several arenas, each on separate floors, some grounded while others floated. Each one had specific environments fashioned into them, not just the regular tiles. Matches of all types kept occurring in them, from aerial battles in 1v1 situations to group battles in the form of capturing the opposing teams' banners of sorts. Even mosh pits were not spared.
Krys turned around back to Jake, holding both arms open, behind from which bright light illuminated across, making her seem the main character of the stage.
"Welcomento the fight club."
