The boss she doesn't know

~NICKLAUS~

I sat in the office listen to the news that was said in the radio. It was about the animal I killed in the woods.

They said they are happy to know the animal is dead and everyone can start walking as they wish.

Have they forgotten that somebody were drained of blood through the neck? Aren't they supposed to know that this animal I killed tear humans apart, not drained their blood?

I need to make sure I hunt down the vampire that is doing this. Why would he or she keep his tracks for them to find?

Except he wants it to be found.

"Mr Nicklaus." I heard Allison call and I looked up putting all my thoughts behind me.

"Hey Allison." I said smiling.

"Good morning Sir. I am here to say thank you for yesterday, you saved my life." She said and I smiled.

"It's nothing. You just have to be careful next time." I said and she nodded cheerfully.

"It was stated In today's news that the animal has been killed, and we are allowed to walk freely again." She said.

"Really?" I asked pretending not to have heard anything.

"Yes. So you don't have to worry about me any more sir. The town is back to the way it was, peaceful." She said and I stood up.

"Allison promise me something." I said and she looked at me in suspicion.

"Promise you what Mr Nicklaus?" She asked.

"That you would be leaving the office early and if at all you close late or sleep off again, you would let Marcus or me escort you home." I said and she furrowed her brows nodding.

"Okay. But you said it in a scary way. If you are afraid of losing your P. A, never you worry because I am very careful." She said but I wasn't satisfied.

"Promise me Allison." I said walking close to her and she nodded.

"I promise okay? I promise." She said and I stopped smiling.

"Good." I said walking back to my chair and sitting on it. She looked at me for some seconds before speaking up again.

"And thanks for the Jacket. It was of great importance to me." She said placing the jacket on the couch in the office.

"Thank you, Allison." I said smiling and she nodded. She looked like she wanted to say something but didn't know how to.

"What's on your mind?" I asked and she sighed swallowing hard.

"I'd like to ask you about something." She said and I nodded.

"Go on. There's no need to be scared" I said looking at her.

"Do you know the owner of the company? I mean you haven't been in this town before, no records nor details. No families, I was wondering how you got the job." She said and I looked at her.

"You know you shouldn't question your boss right?" I said and she nodded.

"Yes I know. And I am sorry about that, I was just curious and I ..." She said in haste.

"It's fine Allison. You should get back to work now." I said and she nodded.

"Yes right. Sorry for that." She said walking out of the office and I looked at the screen of my laptop.

I bet Marcus had gone to dig out my information and to his surprise he found nothing. I should have added some fake I.D.

But I don't really care.

#lunch_time

"Hey." Marcus said approaching me.

"Hey Marcus. Ready for lunch?" I asked and he nodded.

"Always. I am starving." He said looking into the office.

"What are you looking at?" I asked looking back to see Mr Nicklaus still very busy.

"Did you ask him anything about what I told you yesterday?" He asked and I nodded. He sighed looking away.

"I know I shouldn't have, and I am sorry. I was forced to know why he has no information about himself."

"And did he tell you anything?" He asked and I shook my head.

"Nope. I realized I was questioning my boss and I shouldn't if I want to keep my job. So I backed out." I said looking at him again, and I saw him drinking water from his bottle.

"And why isn't he drinking from the water dispenser? Does he have to drink from a water bottle when he isn't a child." He said, and Mr Nicklaus rose up his head to look at us like he was hearing him.

We both looked away quickly and I sighed.

"Look here Marcus. I don't know why you dislike him, but can you please stop acting like this? He is still my boss, so don't get me into trouble." I said carrying my bag.

"Okay fine. Let's go." He said and I shook my head.

"Not yet. I need to tell him I am leaving for lunch. Who knows he may want to come too." I said entering the office before he could say anything.

"Mr Nicklaus." I called and he rose up his head.

"Yes." He answered coldly.

"I am going for lunch." I said, and he nodded looking at his laptop again.

"Won't you take a break too? You have being working since morning, and I bet you haven't eaten anything." I said and he looked at me.

"I am done Allison. Thank you." He said but I went on talking.

"I promise you, you won't regret the food at the restaurant. You would love it, you should give it a shot some other time." I said and he smiled.

"I don't eat food prepared outside." He replied, and I forced a smile at him.

"So you are one bad @ss cook, huh?" I asked and he laughed.

"I shouldn't have said bad @ss." I thought.

"If you say so. You shouldn't keep your friend waiting. He looks very famished" He said and I laughed again.

"I will leave now. And I promise to taste your homemade food very soon." I said and he nodded. I walked out of the office and I saw Marcus boiling in anger.

"It looked like you two were having fun." He said as we walked away.

"Of course we were. I think I kinda like him." I said smiling.
