Raven isn’t just an ordinary supernatural being to everyone who knew about her, but for those who held her captive, she was nothing. Her enemies are safe as long as they seal her memories and feed her with false recollections. Raven would have gotten contented living with her pack if only fate didn’t intervene. With a mate hoping to be with her again, people who need her most, and an ancient and new war brewing on the horizon, Raven must choose. Is it love over death or death over fate?

Chapter 6: The invitation

After that, the severed bond between us was no longer there. Claw became silent and had no longer the power to heal me. Silver is our weakness, so I was in a deep coma while recuperating. It was fatal that everyone could no longer believe that I could survive it.

A few months later, it was a miracle that I woke up. It was also the time that I awoke my vampire blood. It was probably the reason that I survived.

After I regained my senses, I knew that my heart was dead and filled with hatred and revenge. The scar didn't fade. It is a sign of that man's selfishness and the pain he caused me.

Even claw changed drastically because of him.

"I finally found you," a brunette woman said to me with her big sparkling eyes. I meet her around the packhouse after showering. Her name is Blanch.

She became my best friend when her old pack found me three years ago. Unlike me, she is sweet and caring. She and the other girls who were not trained to become warriors take good care of the young and old ones.

She loves her job and is more inspired, especially when she finds her mate. It was the time when she was training as a nurse in Daiso. Her mate was a doctor and followed her to join the pack. Since then, the couple has become our health administrator aside from being my Beta. He can do both jobs as one. I could even be proud.

"Why do you always love dragging me," I protested through a smile still hanging on my lips. We went to her room, and I immediately covered my nose when I smelled a particular scent.

"Because I love to," she chirped and showed me Kadon's mark on her neck. "How does it look?" she asked excitedly.

"Aside from being a normal mark with that initial K, what words can I say," I said laughingly. "So you two had already mated. That explains the funny odor I smelled, huh!" I teased.

"Yes, and I'm proud! He's my destiny, after all. Gosh!! Raven, it's an unexplainable feeling after I meet him...." she beams dreamily.

I sighed.

I found my mate already. Sadly he was my enemy—the one who put my life in misery. We will never be together like a regular mate should have.

Besides, I'm going to kill him the moment I find him.

"Whatever you say, he's still our mate," Claw whispered.

"No, he will not if we choose our new mate," I retorted.

"Chosen mate over fated mate? It won't work, sweet," she said with sarcasm.

"Hello!!" Blanch flicked her finger in over my face.

"Don't do that, Blanch. You know I hate that," I told her, but she just answered me with a smile.

"Let's go and grab us some food."

After patrolling our territory, I went straight to my office in my home. I reviewed all my pack's financial status and their request for a house transfer into the city. I was in the middle of signing a check when Blanch danced her way into my office again, not bothering to knock on the door.

"Blanch, where is your manner? Don't you know what knocks on the door means?" I questioned without sparing her a glance.

"Oh! Come on, Miss almighty Alpha, I heard that a hundred times already. But I won't knock because I love pissing you off," she stated with a smile on her lips before giving me a letter.

I can't help but roll my eyes at her. If we're not close and treat her like my blood sister, I already grind her into pieces long ago.

"To whom did this letter come from?" I asked. The envelope used was made of gold, and there was a black ribbon attached to it—the elders' department made this kind of letter cane from the palace.

I opened the letter and read it aloud so Blanch could hear.

"Oh! You are invited to a royal meeting, Raven," she stated in amusement.

"Damn!" I murmured. Receiving this letter irritates me.

"So, what's your plan? Are you going to attend?"

I leaned back on my swivel chair and massaged my temple. Thinking of going to this meeting makes my head hurt.

"I'll attend," I responded lazily.

"Good! Then leave the outfit to me," she chimed. Just earlier, without even knocking, she also leaves without saying goodbye.

I glanced at the letter and thought, 'royal meeting, huh?' I didn't expect that my identity would soon reveal just like this.

But I guess this time will come when I can't continue hiding my identity.

"We're here, Alpha," Kaydon said politely when our car finally reached our destination. He parks the vehicle in the wide garage of the palace.

He was the first to climb down the car and his mate, Blanch, followed suit. They opened the car for me. If someone asks me, I don't want to step in here, but as Blanch said, I should respect this stupid royal meeting if I want my pack to be acknowledged by that foolish King. Truthfully, I don't even know who he was, or his face.

And to be honest, I don't care what he does.

But now I'm here, so no backing out. I'm wearing a turtle neck long sleeve polo that is tucked in my corporate knee-length skirt. I also paired it with stiletto heels. Blanch insisted that I must wear this dress to be presentable in front of everyone else. She neatly tied my hair into a bun, applied light makeup on my face, and put eyeliner on my eyes. I'm also not wearing my contact lens today. She cheerfully said that the natural color of my eyes matched my outfits.

She also applied blood-red lipstick on my lips. This is only the most conspicuous makeup she put on my face. She even said I looked mature and sexily beautiful. But a while ago, when I looked at myself in the mirror, the first word that came out of my mouth was 'I look so stupid!'

Seriously! I prefer wearing jeans and a t-shirt.
