He stabbed himself and drew out his blood-stained knife. The look on his face was almost unrecognisable to the person I walked in here with. My gaze remained on the blood that gushed from his side.
He just stabbed himself and I stood alone with him in the forest. I knew what was going to happen after this, the decision to run away or to help him quickly before he died would result in more issues for me. He was the one that stabbed himself, I wanted to blame it on him but my rational thoughts knew it would all be pointed at me in the end.
I made my decision and ran away into the woods, he fell to the ground gripping his side. He tricked me to follow him here and stabbed himself. Why would he do that? The image of the knife piercing into his flesh haunted me.
I looked around following the scent of a particular herb I knew so well. Finally finding it I picked the small branch of its leaves and headed straight back to him rushing to the ground to his side.
I chewed on the leaves using my teeth to grind them. I ignored the bitter taste on my tongue as I spat out some onto my palm. I pressed it to his side, rubbing it around and repeating the process.
I felt someone's presence and I looked up only to see the alpha and his aide watching me in horror. They were the only ones.
His aides rushed at me from where he stood behind his alpha.
"You freaking rogue." The alpha held him back.
"Trevor stop," he ordered and you could see him immediately calm under command. He maintained a little eye contact with him before he moved away.
The alpha now fully focused on me said, "I hope you have a very good explanation for this" he said
I kept quiet, still shocked by how everything had transpired. I pressed the leaf to his wounds. It had formed a mould on the deep cut on his skin. He lay on the ground unconscious, my hands coated in blood. I was scared for myself.
The alpha wanted to keep things under fewer eyes so he ordered his aide to carry the body back to the pack house unnoticed by anyone. And he personally escorted me to his chambers.
Inside his chambers, I was made to sit on a chair, the same chair he had chained me up in shackles before. My hands trembled in my seat. They felt cold to touch, and even my teeth gritted together.
"I want complete detail on what exactly happened," he asked calmly. He didn't put pressure on his words. Why was he being so considerate? I started to question whether he wanted to trick me with words as daven had done before the incident. If I had stayed to myself. I let his persuasion get to me. It was my fault. I shouldn't have trusted him. My breathing became heavy and hushed. I couldn't breathe well. My lungs felt stuffy and the air which forced its way in wasn't enough. My eyes darted about unfocused.
His firm hands placed gently on mine, they felt warm.
"It's going to be okay. Just listen to me" my eyes unfocused. I could only hear his voice echo in my head.
"Do you hear me? it's okay, no one is going to harm you," he said once again in his soothing tone. I gazed into his eyes focusing on them and my panic seized.
"Yes," when he noticed I was looking at him " focus on me" I calmed down faster listening to him.
He gave me a while to get myself together. Even ordering someone to get me a glass of water.
He sat again by my side. His dark grey eyes looked straight into me. I averted my gaze feeling nervous, "I'm fine now" I said in a small tone.
Sil stable ensued a bit like he was unsure to go ahead but he asked anyway.
"What happened," he asked
"He stabbed himself" I answered
"Why did he stab himself?"
"I don't know, he took me there with him and then he turned around and stabbed himself." Another silence, maybe he was also trying to wrap his head around what I just said.
A knock on the door stopped him from asking any further questions.
"Enter," he said
His aide walked in, my head bent down so as not to meet his gaze.
"How is he?" He asked without looking away from me.
"Whatever she had put on him stopped the bleeding. And he was able to heal quickly" he said in an annoyed tone.
"You know how to handle herbs," he said to me and I only nodded to him.
"You get injured a lot then" it was a question more like he wanted to confirm.
"Yes"
"Was it at your original pack or the pack you moved to after"
I looked away not wanting to answer him. Trevor growled at me, startling me.
"I have the right to kill you." The alpha said in a stern tone. All tenderness in his tone vanished. I felt a cold chill run down my spine.
"You'd better cooperate with us unless I have to make that decision," he said. I shrank back into my seat.
"He approached me during the hunt and he was friendly towards me. I didn't know why. He convinced me to follow him into the forest to show me something but after a while of walking, he turned around and stabbed himself. " I explained to them he narrowed his eyes at Trevor who in turn nodded back at him.
"Did any strange thing happen before that?"
A flash of the dead cold look in his eyes before he stabbed himself.
"He was giving off a strange aura like he was being controlled," I said
"Was that all?" he asked.
"Yes," I concluded.
"It could be them," Trevor said, I stared at both of them confused. What did they mean?
