The Dectectives
As we settle into the cosy booth of the restaurant, I glance at my twins, Madison and Avery, their faces alight with the joy of a day out.
"So, what was everyone's favourite part of today?"
I ask, watching them eagerly tuck into their meals.
Madison, always the first to answer, chirps excitedly,
"I loved the bookstore, Mom! The one with the huge fairy tale section."
Her eyes are as bright as the story worlds she adores.
Avery, with sauce already decorating his cheek, grins.
"The toy store where we saw the super-fast race cars!"
He declares, making racing motions with his hands.
Laughing, I wipe his cheek with a napkin.
"I thought you might say that. And how about the ice cream? That was my favourite part."
I tease, knowing full well they'd agree.
Both nod vigorously, ice cream evidently a highlight for them too. Leaning in, I propose…
