A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. Rachel, who had been cowering next to the sofa, approached Abigail. "You are back. She forced a smile, masking her anxiety. "Christopher has been waiting for you."
She stood in front of her, blocking Christopher's vision.
Abigail glanced at her for a moment and tilted her head to look at him. Another wave of chill tightened her skin.
"Be wise," Rachel said quietly in her ears. "You can't ignore him any longer. Talk to him." She turned around to face Christopher, grinning. "See, I told you she would be back soon. She has returned."
Before Rachel was done speaking, Abigail stormed into her room and slammed the door shut. She was not ready yet to face Christopher.
The shock she had gotten the day before was massive. It was difficult for her to forgive him and forget everything. On top of that, he was enraged.
Shouldn't he be persuading her?
He should have gone to his knees to ask her to go with him, but instead, he was angry with her.
