A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. "Hello," Ella said curtly, pressing the phone to her ear.
Sophia's voice came through the line, dripping with sarcasm. "Hello, Ella. How are you doing? Uh, you must be doing great, I guess. After all, you have a rich boyfriend now. You'll even forget about us, won't you?"
Ella's anger flared at Sophia's mocking words. She clenched her jaw and tried to keep her cool. "Why are you calling me?" she asked, her voice tight with frustration.
"Oh, I missed you and wanted to check on you," Sophia said, feigning concern. "I thought I would invite you to dinner. But it seems that you're upset with us."
Ella sighed and rolled her eyes. Her cousin was considering inviting her to dinner. What a farce! Ella would not fall for her falsehoods. She was certain Sophia was up to something.
"What do you want, Sophia?" she asked bluntly.
Sophia chuckled. "I have some news to share with you. Have you heard that Paul is dead?"
