CHAPTER 21: MEETING THE MAN FROM THAT NIGHT

MEETING THE MAN FROM THAT NIGHT.

Anne

Anne screamed at the clock, as she stretched her body, her eyes met the clock, and she gasped in fear.

The official bus was coming to pick up the staff at 7:40 and she was just woken up, at 7:20.

"No need to panic Anne, just activate your inner speed mode," she said to herself, trying to calm her pounding heart

She quickly rushed to the bathroom, brushed her teeth, and showered hurriedly.

She came out of the bathroom in a rush, because of the water dripping from her body, with a loud shout, she slipped and bumped her head on the floor but she righted herself, clutching her pained forehead in her hands, "Ouch!" she cried as she walked to her wardrobe.

"You need to hurry the bus will be here any moment," Belle shouted from the hallway.

"Okay," she retorted in a louder voice.

She stood in front of the wardrobe, confused about what to wear, she decided to go with a white top and black pants just to play safe.

She heard a knock on the door, "Anne, the bus is here, hurry!" It was the voice of Coco.

She quickly put on a pair of black sandals, picked a purse that was hung on the wall, and her glasses, she didn't bother to make up, she was running late.

The driver pulled into the parking deck of the office building at 8:15, Traffic had been a bleeding nightmare this morning.

The main office was truly elegant, it was bigger and more beautiful unlike the branch in Capital Q that looked like in comparison, glasses placed craftily covered the upper part of the building.

She saw people entering the entrance door, walking. Some were with their colleagues, gisting and laughing as they moved.

But there was something all of them had in harmony, they were finely dressed, their hair was stylishly arranged, their clothes looked expensive, and even their shoes looked expensive, it was a whole new world to Anne.

She felt out of place in the office as she watched the staff.

Anne entered the entrance door, and movement was everywhere, people were walking in different directions and their faces appeared serious and busy, she did not know who to ask.

Until a man walked up to her,My name is Dawson, I have been watching you and you looked lost and confused, what is the matter?"

He appeared nice, with brown hair with a friendly smile on his face, not to mention his outfit, a complete setsuitssuit looked expensive and his shoes were polished neatly, he had this next-door neighbor kind of aura, it suited him nicely.

Anne wasn't keen on talking to strangers, she couldn't stand like that forever, "My name is Anne Mccody, I am the newly appointed secretary, hired by Mr Richmond himself, but I don't know the way to his office, can you help me out?" She said, asking for his help.

Saying he was surprised was an understatement, he stared at Anne from up to down, wondering how she managed to become the boss's secretary, she looked shabby. Her forehead was red, probably from falling, her hair wasn't styled properly and her outfits looked cheap, unlike the previous secretaries that dressed properly, I hope she will be able to keep the job, dressed like this, he thought.

Anne was still expecting an answer to her request from him.

He shrugged, "Sure, why not? but I should probably get you there faster." He pointed to the clock.

Without a word, He took her to the elevator, he brought her to the front of the office, "this is it," he said in a low voice.

Anne was happy and felt grateful to the good man who helped her, "thank you," she said.

He nodded his head, "you are welcome Miss Anne, he said and walked away, leaving Anne to her fate.

Suddenly, she felt cold, and tension plagued her body, she was about to meet the rumored evil boss and she couldn't help but sweat about it.

She inhaled harshly, "All right," she said, smoothing her shirt and her hair down into place. "Let's get this over with." she proceeded forward, opening the office door, and entering the room.

The boss stood at the windows with his back to her. He was tall, just over six feet, his shoulders were broad, and his waist tapered in an expensive tailored suit, custom designed for his body. He wore his dark brown hair a little long for typical business standards, but he wore it well. Well.

"You're late, Ms Anne Claire Evans Mccody," he said in a stern voice that rumbled through her, snapping her to attention. "Don't let it happen again."

The rebuke felt like a slap, she was baffled to hear her entire name rolling from his lips, she was hardly called by her full name, only her mother called her that and that is when she had done something truly appalling.

"I hope you won't be late like this again, I don't tolerate lateness," he said, keeping his back to her. There was something familiar about his voice, it sounded like the guy from that night.

She couldn't speak, his voice brought back all the memories, she tried to suppress.

He slowly moved away from the windows and walked to his seat, sitting on the leather chair.

As her gaze rose to his face, the first thing that she noticed was those mesmerizing green and brown eyes that held her entranced. Her blood ran cold and my heart thudded wildly in her chest. She took in his whole face, it was the face of the man from that night, and he was stunning.

His face was stoic without a trace of emotions on his stunning face.

Her hands trembled as she grabbed the back of a nearby chair for support. "you?"

He held her gaze unwavering, almost accusatory.

Fate was messing with them both, "I don't understand at all," she muttered beneath her breath, not that Richmond had a super hearing.

His mouth set in a firm line as he peered at me, "you need to sit down," he said calmly as if he wasn't affected by her reappearance in his life.
