His father's face softened for a moment before hardening again. "I may have suggested it, but I never meant for you to hurt your sister. You need to start thinking for yourself and realize the damage you're causing."
"What damage am I causing?" Logan snapped. "You were the one who told me that, and now you are acting like some saint in front of Alexis."
His father placed a firm hand on Logan's shoulder, his eyes weary. "I'm not a saint; your mom died a mysterious death. Your grandparents do not believe that she committed suicide, and they believe I, your father, killed her. How can I do such a thing? What better way to explain it to them than to use Javier?"
Logan shrugged off his father's hand. "Dad, it feels like I don't know you anymore," he said. "You've completely changed from the lovely father I once knew."
"You can hate me all you want, but have you seen Javier?" he said. "That is the only way you might not go to jail for lying."
