Chapter 9

" You are positively beaming. " Kiishi remarked about her friend when she saw her on Monday after assembly.

" Of course. Dare is everything. " Bisola was smiling from ear to ear.

" That must mean he's really good at, what is he good at? " Kiishi looked at her friend inquiringly.

" Everything. He's so funny. " Bisola said with a sweet smile.

" I could tell. You were laughing like a fool throughout the party. " Kiishi commented.

" You are just mean. " Bisola said without any bad feelings.

" But you love me. " Kiishi smiled.

" Of course I do. Kayode has still not texted. " Bisola voice is a bit said as she said this.

" You have Dare, what do you need Kayode for? " Kiishi quizzed.

" I don't know but it still hurts and out of all the girls it had to be Aina. " Kiishi could understand why Bisola sounded sad, Aina was a certified bitch and perhaps the only girl that could compete with Bisola in terms of beauty.

" Ola, you have to forget about it and Dare is a great guy he's really into you. That guy worships the ground you walk on.  " Kiishi comforted her friend.

" You are right. I just can't stop thinking about Kayode. " Bisola shrugged.

" Don't tell me you've been texting him? "

" Never, I have my pride na. "

As they made their way to their class they bumped into Kayode who happened to be walking with Aina.

" Can't you watch where you're going? " Aina said as she bumped into Bisola.

" Ola have you done your maths homework? " Kiishi asked her friend totally ignoring Aina who was standing with her hands folded ready for a confrontation.

" Oh yes, it was very easy. " Bisola replied taking the cue from her friend to ignore Aina.

" Good cause I am going to copy your assignment. Let's hurry before Mr. Farouq gets to class. " Kiishi said holding her friends hand and walking past Aina.

" You bitch, I was talking to you. Have you no respect for your seniors? I am going to make sure you sweep the entire school today. " Ranted Aina as Kayode tried to shut her up with sign language but she refused to heed.

" Bisola some people forget to brush their mouths before leaving their home. Can you smell what I'm smelling? " Kiishi said wrinkling her nose.

" Yes. I smell rotten egg. " Bisola said using her mouth to cover her nose.

" What? Are you saying my mouth is smelling? Go down on your knees this instant both of you. " Aina said very angry, her anger is even more fueled because other students had started to look their way.

" Why should we get on our knees? " Kiishi challenged.

" Aina we should just leave. " Kayode said something for the first time.

" No! I am not going to put up with these insolent children. Do you two have any idea how old I am? " Aina said.

" Yes, you are twenty. Some of your mates are already graduates from university, you should invest more time in your studies so you would not write WAEC the same year as I. " Kiishi said unafraid.

" How dare you? " Aina said raising her hand to slap Kiishi but Kayode held her hand.

" Kiishi let us go. They aren't worth our time. " Bisola said as she held onto her friend's hand.

" Of course. " Kiishi said walking away with Bisola.

Before break news about Aina's clash with Kiishi had spread round the school. The rumour going round was that Aina had been insulted by Kiishi about her age and had told her that she ( Aina ) will be writing WAEC the same time with her if she did not stop stealing other people's boyfriend. Some said that Aina had slapped Kiishi for saying this and because the gist included Kiishi it soon got to Joshua who was extremely angry about this development.

It was little wonder that by long break Aina, an SS3 student and senior prefect was sighted washing the girl's toilet.

" I don't appreciate you butting your head in my business. " Kiishi expressed her dissatisfaction to Joshua as they sat together for lunch in the cafeteria.

" I don't appreciate anyone touching you. She should have known better. " Joshua said fuming.

" You should sit with your classmates, I'm enjoying lunch with... " Kiishi thought for a moment, she had been enjoying her lunch alone because Bisola had abandoned her to eat with Dare.

" See? You are alone. " Joshua smiled.

" I like being on my own. " Kiishi shrugged as she heaped her spoon with rice.

" Did Aina hit you? " Joshua asked, there were different versions of what had happened that morning and he did not know which one to believe.

" She was going to but Kayode stopped her. " Kiishi shrugged before stuffing her mouth with rice.

" You should eat slowly, your food is not running away. " Joshua said.

" But time is. I need to finish the associate today. " Kiishi said after she had swallowed her food.

" You're reading John Grisham now? " Joshua asked.

" Yes, yes. I think I'm going to be a lawyer. " Kiishi smiled.

" Last week you wanted to be a computer geniuse. "

" Dan Brown made it sound all so exciting but I really hate ICT " Kiishi frowned.

" You need to seriously start considering what you want to do. You'll be done with SS 1 in a heartbeat and you would have to choose a department. " Joshua advised.

" I know, I'll think about it. " Kiishi said as she cut into her chicken.

" She must be done washing the toilet. " Joshua commented as Aina walked into the hall looking like she was going to cry.

" How did you make the principal punish her? " Kiishi asked.
