You're not to blame

Rin pulled Lian out of the station to avoid any suspicious looks passed in their direction from the officers.

They met with Rin's brother at the set location and drove off into the distance.

"So, how'd it go? Got your answers kid?" Rin's brother asked, staring at the two quiet individuals at the back seat.

Rin pat Lian's shoulder before raising her gaze to meet her brother's," We were too late. He's gone."

"Hmm, bummer. What're you going to do now?"

Lian sighed into his hands and Rin pat his back reassuringly.

The rest of the drive was silent with each person immersed in their own thoughts.

"Are you going to look for him?" Rin's brother asked and Lian looked up.

Just as he was about to answer, a shadow dashed from the trees and stood on the road.

"Watch out!"

Rin's brother reacted quickly slamming his foot on the brakes causing the car to screech to a halt.
