The Archivist's Ploy: A Tale of One Against The World

Far above the horizon, beyond the clouds and the apocalyptic storms under it, hovered a yellow-haired old-looking man. His yellow eyes gave off a bright radiance, and countless books floated around him. Throughout history, the man was known by many names, (The Watcher - The Chronicler - The Historian - The Custodian - The Recordkeeper) But during this Era, he was known as The Archivist. The Archivist's perception inspected thousands of kilometers far and wide, Yet 'Nothing interesting is happening' His frustration grew 'What's the point of a worldwide perception if there's no apposite change to perceive?' 'The world has become mundane' 'And no one is doing anything about it' Ergo, The Archivist will take matters into his own hands 'I'll orchestrate a worldwide, All-embracing scheme against an oblivious individual' With a sinister smile on his face, he devised his plan 'Turn the entire world into a person's antagonist, Then enjoy the show' And he had the perfect plot for it 'First, Utter Despair that would cause immense Pain' 'Then, More Despair that would turn the Pain to Loathe' 'Then, As the Loathe grows, The Despair will transform into Rage' 'The Rage will make the Being Crave Revenge, and the intense Crave will result in Devotion to his goal' 'Finally, The Despair, Pain, Loathe, Crave, and Devotion will all be used as fuel for the Rage, Transforming it into an even extremer emotion' "WRATH" How would a single person unleash his Wrath against the entire world? 'That's what I'm going to find out' "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" The Archivist's maniacal laughter echoed loudly 'The world is about to be entertaining' He looked up and asked with a reverberating, Bleak voice "Who will be the unlucky one?"

Vengeance Seeker, Conspiracy

Inside the Citadel, a blue-haired woman was sitting behind her desk with a solemn expression on her face.

She was wearing casual attire, a long blue cardigan with a black shirt under it, and blue pants.

Her eyes were firmly fixed on the watch that was hung on the wall.

When it finally became 2 PM, she got up and exited her office.

"I'm clocking out early today" She curtly said to one of the floor's Knights.

"Understood, Lady Breena" Replied the Knight politely.

Breena walked down the stairs, ignoring the greetings of her comrades, and left the Citadel.

She strode to the Guild and entered it.

As soon as she entered, the voices quieted down for a couple of seconds then murmurs began

"She changed drastically huh?"

"Yeah, she used to never take off her Crimson Armor"

"What even happened to her?"

"No one knows for sure"

"I heard that her lover died"

"Pfffff, Died? You don't really believe that do you?"

"I don't know man, people die all the time, not everything has to be a big mystery, Mr Conspiracy Theorist"

"I'm telling you, he either killed himself or got murdered"

"Right right, whatever"

"Ahhhh, such a shame, an esteemed guy like me is surrounded by simpletons"

After the guy said that, Everyone laughed and the atmosphere returned to normal again.

Naturally, Breena heard everything that was said.

First of all, Elites had heightened senses and whispers around them were not effective.

Second, the people weren't really speaking in a low voice, it was lower than normal to give a sense of importance to the conversation, but nothing more than that.

But that was okay, Breena didn't care about any of that

'I have far more important things right now'

And also, the people didn't care enough to hide their murmurs.

If push came to shove then they were more than ready to fight to their heart's content. It'd be fun to fight a human after spending most of their time fighting Beasts and doing other, boring tasks.

Breena headed to the Missions' Board and chose a random, Elite Level Mission

'Any would sufficie'

After all, she wasn't going to actually do it, it was just a pretext.

She picked up the mission and went to one of the Guild's receptionists.

"Hello, How can I help you today?" A red-haired woman asked with a smile

Breena placed the mission on the desk without uttering a word, then she placed her Guild Membership Card beside it.

The red-haired woman nodded and did a couple of things then handed Breena back her card.

"All done Ma'am, Good luck" She said with a smile

Breena took the card then turned around and left

'Hmph, at least say thanks ... Rude bitch' The red-haired woman thought while watching Breena's departing back, but she quickly put a smile on her face because another member stood in front of her desk.

Breena exited the Guild and then strode to the city's northern gates.

When she got close enough, one of the Guards protecting the gate asked

"Lady Breena, what brings you here?"

With difficulty, Breena forced a smile on her face and faked a polite tone

"Hello! I'm really bored, you know how the job can be so bureaucratic at times, I need to take off some steam."

She showed her card and added Mana to it, revealing a hologram of the details of the mission she just accepted.

"I will go to the forest and kill a couple of Beasts to relieve my stress"

The guard nodded with understanding

"Of course Lady, I understand. If there's anything I can help you with then please let me know"

Then he turned around and signaled to another guard to open the gates.

"I hope you have fun, good luck!" He said with a smile

"Thank you" Breena replied back with a smile as well

As soon as she exited the gates, the smile on her face disappeared as if it never existed and a disgusted expression appeared

'Despicable creatures'

'But it can't be helped, I have to put up with them'

She tried to improve her mood by thinking

'At least I now have an alibi'

She focused her Mana on her legs and began running, but instead of running toward the Forest, she ran toward a seemingly random spot in the desert.

After running for a while, she stood and looked around her to make sure that no one was nearby.

After she was comfortable that no one was watching, she hid behind a rock and took off her shoes.

'Useless pocketless clothes'

From her shoe, she took out two small pouches, she kept one in her hand, and opened the other one.

The pouch had three items.

A brown, half-face mask that she wore to cover her nose, mouth, and cheeks.

Black glasses that she wore to cover her eyes.

And a red bottle.

After wearing the mask and the glasses, he opened the bottle and spilled it on her blue hair.

Instantly after the red liquid fell on her hair, her hair color changed from blue to red.

'A perfect disguise'

Her lips curled up, forming a vicious smile.

Then she took off to her destination.

After running for a while in the desert, she found a big U-shaped rock

'The landmark'

After reaching the unique-looking rock, she stood beside it and waited.

A bit of time passed then a red-haired man entered her Domain, he glanced at her and then stood on the other side of the rock waiting as well.

The red-haired man was wearing a full face mask, only his eyes and hair were showing, and both were red.

Breena and the man waited in silence.

After about an hour, two guys approached the rock and stood in the middle between Breena and the red-haired Man.

One of the guys was white-haired with grey eyes, he seemed to be in his late 30s or early 40s.

'Light Mage' Breena concluded

The other was a young red-haired with a sword sheathed on his hip, he seemed to be in his late 20s.

'Elite Fire Knight'

When the red-haired man saw that, he came in front of Breena and said in a very neutral, almost apathetic tone.

"Safeword"

"Potato" Breena replied

He nodded to her then turned around and looked at the two guys and said the same thing

"Safeword"

"Tomato"

He nodded

"Correct"

Immediately after he said that the tense atmosphere relaxed a bit

Breena spoke

"You took long"

The red-haired guy replied

"I'm just a middleman, I'm not responsible for their efficiency"

Both of them looked at the two guys, putting slight pressure on them

"Sorry, we had things to do"

The middleman replied nonchalantly

"It does not matter, let's get down to business"

The three nodded

Breena opened her hand to reveal a pouch, she opened it and took out a rock-like object then added some Mana to it.

Immediately, the image of a purple-haired teen hovered in front of everyone
