The second activation of the Abstract of Ignition messed up Hudson's calculations.
'I thought I'd have time to dodge or chant the spell Shield'
But when Leus activated the Abstract again, Hudson realized that dodging or protecting against it was impossible.
The only thing he could do was activate the only Abstract he knew
'I have to activate the Abstract of Hardening'
Even if it didn't block the attack it'd at least reduce the damages
'Hopefully'
When Leus saw the protective layer of Earth Mana around Hudson's body, he contemplated adding Mana to his sword.
He could add Fire Mana to make it burn or Darkness Mana to make it poisonous.
But ultimately, he decided against it.
'I don't feel comfortable doing it, I vowed to never underestimate my opponents but this would be ... too harsh?'
After all
'The guy is just a Mage ...'
'The goal is just to win the duel, not to kill him or incinerate his insides'
Leus stuck to his plan and ...
CLANK
He crashed into Hudson, Hudson's Abstract helped mitigate some of the force behind Leus' attack, but it wasn't nearly enough.
They both were on the ground, Leus was on top of Hudson with his sword stuck in Hudson's abdomen
'Not deep enough'
Hudson was too shocked to take any action against Leus, but since he still didn't concede, Leus didn't waste a second.
He immediately went for the dagger strapped above his ankle, raised it and stabbed Hudson's right thigh ... or was about to
Just a moment before Leus' dagger cut through Hudson's flesh and bones, a thick blob of Water-Like substance appeared between Leus and Hudson, interrupting Leus' attack and turning the stab into a mere graze
"Winner, Leus Inferno!" The Referee declared.
Leus was confused
"I won? But he didn't concede."
The Light Mage quickly went and put Potions on Hudson's body and in his mouth, while gently pulling the sword out of him.
While Hudson was screaming in agony, the referee explained to Leus
"Because you're still Mages, I have the right to declare someone a winner before the final blow. There's no need to wait until one of you almost dies, at least not until you reach Elite."
Leus nodded while taking his now-red sword from the other Light Mage
"I see"
'As long as I win, it doesn't matter'
He looked at Hudson's twisted face and said
"Don't worry, the wound isn't that deep, you will be fine"
Hudson bit his lip without saying anything.
Both the Light Mages kneeled and began adding Life Force to Hudson's body, helping his wounds close.
Leus chanted Water on his sword, cleaned it of the blood, then sheathed it.
Then he watched the Mages heal Hudson with his arms crossed.
'Now I can finally get a tutor'
After about 3 minutes, Hudson's wound closed but his organs didn't fully heal,
but for now, he was able to stand.
Leus extended his hand for Hudson and Hudson slowly shook it
"Good fight" Leus said
Hudson nodded without saying a word
The referee deactivated the Barrier and said
"You can leave now, you can get your points anytime from the Department of Finance, I've already sent them a signal that Young Lord Leus has won."
Leus politely replied
"Thank you"
Then under the gazes of many astonished individuals, he turned around and walked toward Nuri
While he was walking towards her, he could hear the Light Mages talking to Hudson behind him, saying something along the lines of
"Your injuries are not severe but some organs were damaged, you need to maintain drinking Potions and attending Life Force sessions 3 times a day for 5 days, and you can not Duel until you get permission."
Leus didn't pay that any mind and asked Nuri
"So how was it? I hope it was worth coming"
People had different reactions to his question
How was it?
First, this was not what anyone expected to see.
Leus was in the Third Realm, which meant that he was a Mage as no Knights are accepted in the Mansion below the Elite Realm/
However, most of the people didn't see Leus using any spells, and all of them didn't see him use a single attack spell.
His fighting style was exactly like a Knight's.
Mages don't close the distance as they excel in fighting from range.
Some Mages even fight from the other end of the Barrier until their Mana Pool is depleted.
Sure, Some Elite Mages use swords or other melee weapons, but that is only because it synergizes well with their fighting style or Skill, and they use it only as a secondary means of attack, they do not build their entire fighting style around it.
What did all of this mean?
Everyone had a theory or two in their minds
1- Leus is a Knight who knows how to use a couple of useless spells
2- Leus is a Mage who can't properly use long-range attacks, or maybe he doesn't know how to aim.
3- Leus is a Wind and Darkness Mage who dyed his green hair purple.
But there was another, very scary theory, only thought of by the guys at the very top.
What if this wasn't Leus' main fighting style?
What if this was merely a facade or a secondary fighting style to not reveal Leus' real style?
Could Leus be so much stronger than Hudson that he didn't even need to reveal his hand?
The basis of their theory was a simple question
Why did we all come to watch the duel in the first place?
They all wanted to know Leus' element
And the result?
Nothing
What did they learn about Leus from this duel?
Not much, except for the fact that he's very fast and can probably fight from above, nothing at all.
That brings us back to the main question
How was the duel?
Some thought it was entertaining to watch.
Some thought it was interesting to see a Mage using so many Abstracts.
Some formed an opinion about Leus and began thinking of ways to counter him.
But most were disappointed that they couldn't answer the questions they came here for.
