The Archivist's Ploy: A Tale of One Against The World

Far above the horizon, beyond the clouds and the apocalyptic storms under it, hovered a yellow-haired old-looking man. His yellow eyes gave off a bright radiance, and countless books floated around him. Throughout history, the man was known by many names, (The Watcher - The Chronicler - The Historian - The Custodian - The Recordkeeper) But during this Era, he was known as The Archivist. The Archivist's perception inspected thousands of kilometers far and wide, Yet 'Nothing interesting is happening' His frustration grew 'What's the point of a worldwide perception if there's no apposite change to perceive?' 'The world has become mundane' 'And no one is doing anything about it' Ergo, The Archivist will take matters into his own hands 'I'll orchestrate a worldwide, All-embracing scheme against an oblivious individual' With a sinister smile on his face, he devised his plan 'Turn the entire world into a person's antagonist, Then enjoy the show' And he had the perfect plot for it 'First, Utter Despair that would cause immense Pain' 'Then, More Despair that would turn the Pain to Loathe' 'Then, As the Loathe grows, The Despair will transform into Rage' 'The Rage will make the Being Crave Revenge, and the intense Crave will result in Devotion to his goal' 'Finally, The Despair, Pain, Loathe, Crave, and Devotion will all be used as fuel for the Rage, Transforming it into an even extremer emotion' "WRATH" How would a single person unleash his Wrath against the entire world? 'That's what I'm going to find out' "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" The Archivist's maniacal laughter echoed loudly 'The world is about to be entertaining' He looked up and asked with a reverberating, Bleak voice "Who will be the unlucky one?"

Going To The Library

Leus left the home feeling quite enthusiastic

While he was walking towards the Library, He didn't fail to notice the amount of people who were looking at him

'Now that Dad isn't with me, people look at me for longer. They still glance away after a few seconds tho'

The Library was in the southeast of the City, Closer to Leus' house than the Guild, But still many kilometers away from both.

It took him a bit of time to get there, but eventually, he reached it safely.

'It's still as imposing as the last time, Beautiful'

The first thing Leus looked at was, Just like the last time, The Guards

'I vaguely remember their faces, But I think these two aren't the same as last time'

They were wearing their usual blue armor and standing in front of the Library's door,

Leus walked to them, and both of them looked at him with interest.

One of the guards suddenly asked

"Hey kid, Are you the Purple Boy?"

Leus repeated, Puzzled

"The purple boy?"

"Yeah, You know, The kid that caused a fuss two days back in the Guild? The Warrior-Mage that's only in the Third Realm?"

'Oh? Rumors spread fast here'

Leus nodded

".... Yeah, That's me, I'm Leus Inferno"

Both the guards hummed and nodded at each other and one of them said in a low voice

"So the rumors are true"

Leus was amused

'What's all this gossip ...'

'Well, I guess that since their job is to stand here and do basically nothing all day, it makes sense.'

'I'd be bored as well.'

He didn't let his thoughts show on his face and asked in a polite tone

"Is it possible for me to enter?"

"Of course of course, Do you mind saying what you are here for?"

"To meet Master Arno, He has offered me to become his apprentice"

Upon hearing that, Both the guards' eyes opened wide

"Apprentice? I don't even remember when was the last time he had one"

The other guard asked

"Amazing, How old are you?"

Leus smiled and tried to dodge the question

"Yeah, I'm Master Arno's apprentice, Do you mind letting me enter because he might be upset if I'm late?"

The guards nodded in understanding and let him in

He entered the Library, and once again, Leus felt amazed by the sheer amount of books inside the library

'Such a bewitching place'

He walked forward heading toward Arno's desk.

When he got close to him, Leus noticed that Arno looked exactly the same as the last time

An elderly man wearing a majestic blue robe and reading a book

'Feels like a deja vu'

When Leus got close enough to the desk, Arno glanced at him for a second and looked back at his book, But suddenly, he narrowed his eyes and intently looked at Leus

Leus noticed that and thought

'Yep, Just like the last time'

Leus didn't pay Arno's actions any mind, and slowly moved forward until he reached in front of the desk

"I came back, Sir, I mastered all the spells"

Arno spoke in his usual flat tone

"That's not what happened, Tell me the details"

Leus tilted his head

"What do you mean, Sir?"

"You carry a sword, you evolved, and your aura has changed. Follow me."

Arno turned around and walked to a shelf behind him at the end of the Library. He put his hand on it, Then added mana to it

Out of nowhere, A door appeared in front of Arno, and Arno pushed it open

Leus wasn't amazed

'Of course, there are secret rooms, It would be even weirder if there weren't, Right?'

He followed behind Arno and entered the room

"Close the door"

Leus did as instructed

The room looked exactly like the Training Hall he saw in the Guild, With the same Magic Circle in the middle.

The only difference was that the room had a bookshelf with some books instead of swords on one end, And it had a desk with 2 chairs in front of it and a chair behind it on the other end.

A bit behind the desk, there were two closed wooden doors.

Arno walked and sat behind the desk and called Leus

"Have a seat, Leus"

"Yes Sir"

Leus sat in front of Arno

"You are four now, Is that correct?"

"Yes"

"Go ahead, Tell me everything that happened in the last two years, and spare no detail.

Everything you've done, Everything you experienced, How you trained, The type of spells you mainly use, How you adjust it ... Everything"

Leus took a deep breath and started talking.

He told Arno about his journey so far.

He explained training his Mana for silent spellcasting, adjusting spells, and the realization of their ineffectiveness after battling Blaze.

He then detailed learning swordsmanship, infusing it with Elements, and unlocking the Domain Abstract through training.

Leus also recounted the slum gang encounter, Guild events, missions, meeting Ishaan, and concluded with what he thought regarding his affinity.

As Leus was talking, Arno was taking notes, He kept writing even after Leus was done talking

The room was silent until Arno was done writing, Then he spoke

"First, Let's talk about your Extreme mana training ...

It's not unheard of, But I find it very strange how you seem to never face any bottlenecks

Usually, when someone tries to train in this way for long, they face multiple bottlenecks, Forcing them to change the way they train or do something else first, Like training their body or learning more spells. This is the first anomaly."

Arno drew a line in his notebook, then continued

"Your massive amount of Mana explains how you are able to silently cast countless spells, But it doesn't explain your mastery over the elements.

It's Extremely hard to be able to fully control various elements.

The main reason Magicians focus on one or two elements is their inability to control the mana of other elements, It could take months or even years to master a new element silently, And chanting takes more time and makes you vulnerable against someone who's not going to chant which lowers the value of learning a new element overall. This is the second anomaly."

He drew another line, Then continued

"It's impressive how you learned the sword and became able to overcome the oppressive aura of an Elite Knight at this age, But this could be just an innate talent, Sure, It's good, But everyone gets used to it with enough experience, So that's relatively normal."

Arno didn't draw any lines

"Your mastery over different elements with the sword brings us back to the second anomaly.

Your training to unlock the Domain Abstract at such a young age and a low level is impressive, It takes dedication and effort to unlock Abstracts, But it's not impossible, Once again this can be reasoned by saying that you're naturally talented, A cut above the rest."

He flipped the page

"As for the matter of the guild and Ishaan, leave these matters to me, When time comes, I'll handle it."

He looked Leus in the eye and said

"This leaves us with two problems"

"Which are?"
