The Archivist's Ploy: A Tale of One Against The World

Far above the horizon, beyond the clouds and the apocalyptic storms under it, hovered a yellow-haired old-looking man. His yellow eyes gave off a bright radiance, and countless books floated around him. Throughout history, the man was known by many names, (The Watcher - The Chronicler - The Historian - The Custodian - The Recordkeeper) But during this Era, he was known as The Archivist. The Archivist's perception inspected thousands of kilometers far and wide, Yet 'Nothing interesting is happening' His frustration grew 'What's the point of a worldwide perception if there's no apposite change to perceive?' 'The world has become mundane' 'And no one is doing anything about it' Ergo, The Archivist will take matters into his own hands 'I'll orchestrate a worldwide, All-embracing scheme against an oblivious individual' With a sinister smile on his face, he devised his plan 'Turn the entire world into a person's antagonist, Then enjoy the show' And he had the perfect plot for it 'First, Utter Despair that would cause immense Pain' 'Then, More Despair that would turn the Pain to Loathe' 'Then, As the Loathe grows, The Despair will transform into Rage' 'The Rage will make the Being Crave Revenge, and the intense Crave will result in Devotion to his goal' 'Finally, The Despair, Pain, Loathe, Crave, and Devotion will all be used as fuel for the Rage, Transforming it into an even extremer emotion' "WRATH" How would a single person unleash his Wrath against the entire world? 'That's what I'm going to find out' "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" The Archivist's maniacal laughter echoed loudly 'The world is about to be entertaining' He looked up and asked with a reverberating, Bleak voice "Who will be the unlucky one?"

Fancy, Etiquette

The blue-haired woman was trying to get up to greet Blaze, but he stopped her

"Oh, Madam, please, don't get up, there's no need"

Blaze slightly bowed to her as a greeting and she nodded, Felix did the same to Viorica.

Viorica came close to the blue-haired woman and spoke with a smile

"Hello, I'm Viorica, nice to meet you"

The woman replied politely

"I'm Arleen, nice to meet you too"

After the two women greeted each other, Blaze pulled back one of the five chairs that were on the opposite side of the table, specifically the chair opposing to Arleen, for Viorica to sit on it.

Viorica sat on the chair, then Merlin went to greet both Felix and Arleen.

Felix extended his hand

"Hello Merlin, nice to see you"

"Nice to see you too, Sir Felix"

Then Arleen extended her hand

"Nice to meet you, Young Man."

Merlin very briefly shook her hand with a smile then sat to the right of Viorica, leaving a chair between her and him.

'Huh? Why did he do that'

While Leus was confused, Amethyst went to greet the two

Felix slightly bowed to her and said

"Nice to meet you, Miss Amethyst"

She smiled and replied just like Merlin.

Arleen extended her hand and held Amethyst's

"Nice to meet you, Young Miss"

Then Amethyst sat on Viorica's left.

Leus was inspecting the scene in front of him with interest

'There seems to be a pattern which I do not understand at all'

Leus didn't know why some were shaking hands and some were nodding

'I feel so stupid'

It was his turn, so he moved forward to shake Felix's hand, but that's when he noticed something strange

'Arleen ... she's not a Soldier?'

Her aura interested him, so he wanted to evaluate her

'I'll just do it later, The Abstract of Concealment is already active, I'll use Advanced Mana Vision after I sit.'

He forced a smile on his face and said

"Nice to meet you - "

Then took a small pause

'Sir, Mister or Guardian?'

After about 3 seconds he decided to copy Merlin

"Sir Felix"

Felix replied politely

"Nice to meet you too, Young Master"

He turned around to look at Arleen, but she didn't extend her hand

'Hmm? Now what? Do I extend my hand first or bow?'

After about 5 seconds of thinking, Leus decided to just bow, but after that came another problem.

'Is she a Lady, Miss, or a Madam'

'She's probably not a Miss since she's married, ... I think both Lady and Madam will work, but I think Dad said Madam.'

"Nice to meet you, Madam"

He didn't deeply look at her or focus on her aura, but he was still able to sense it because she was in his domain.

'Either a Knight or a Mage for sure'

Arleen's sweet voice pulled Leus out of his thoughts

"It's nice to finally put a face on the name, and such a unique one at that, I'm honored to meet you, The Library's Young Master."

Leus subconsciously glanced at Felix

'In all honesty, I don't know what to say'

At this point, the only 3 standing were Leus, Blaze, and Felix.

And it was taking a bit longer than it should have, so Felix joined their conversation.

"Please, Young Master, have a seat, we can continue with the conversation after being seated"

Leus just nodded

Blaze tapped on the chair beside Merlin, to the right end of the table, right beside the glass, so Leus sat on it.

After him, Blaze sat between Merlin and Viorica, in the empty seat that Merlin left earlier

'So that's why Merlin did it ... from where did they learn all that?'

After Blaze sat, Felix sat as well, and the lunch officially began.

Leus looked at the glass on his right.

He was able to see the huge Red Mansion in the distance, with a red bridge coming out of it in the middle of the air and connecting to the Citadel.

'Honestly, the architecture in this world is so advanced ... I truly underestimated Magic's capabilities, only focusing on combat, there really is so much ...'

While Leus was thinking about that, Arleen tried to continue what she started, so she looked at Leus and politely asked

"May I call you Sir Leus?"

Leus decided to take this chance to lighten the heavy formal atmosphere

'I'm so bored of having to think about everything before uttering it, it's weird'

So he shook his head and spoke in a light tone

"As you have probably noticed, formality isn't my thing, just call me Leus"

'From now on, I'll say whatever I want, and so be it'

As Leus wanted, the atmosphere indeed lightened a bit.

Arleen continued

"Leus it is then, call me Arleen as well"

She looked at the rest of the family and said with a smile

"All of you too, call me Arleen"

Leus sighed in relief

'Alright, now that we broke the ice, I can ask what I want'

"Arleen, I couldn't help but notice your aura, are you a Knight or a Mage?"

Arleen became slightly surprised

"So it really is true? You have a Domain despite not being an Elite?"

Felix said in a light tone

"I told you so"

"I just couldn't believe it, I didn't know that something like that was actually possible ..."

Leus quickly added

"It's not that big of a Domain, its radius is only 5 meters"

"Even that is very impressive .. to answer your question, I'm a Mage, a Water Mage"

Leus tried to sound impressed, but his tone still came out cold

"Impressive"

In Leus' mind, Eliteness was the average standard for power, being below that didn't even warrant attention.

'It was slightly surprising that she's not a Soldier as I expected her to be, but that's about it'

Arleen just laughed and said in a joking tone

"Is it? If you say so then it is, but isn't it unfair?"

Leus tilted his head

"Hmm? What is unfair?"

"You've seen my aura and I didn't see yours, can I activate Advanced Mana Vision?"

Leus nodded

"Sure, go ahead, no need to ask"

Arleen chuckled

"Usually, it's rude to evaluate your guests, but since I have your permission it should be okay."
