The Archivist's Ploy: A Tale of One Against The World

Far above the horizon, beyond the clouds and the apocalyptic storms under it, hovered a yellow-haired old-looking man. His yellow eyes gave off a bright radiance, and countless books floated around him. Throughout history, the man was known by many names, (The Watcher - The Chronicler - The Historian - The Custodian - The Recordkeeper) But during this Era, he was known as The Archivist. The Archivist's perception inspected thousands of kilometers far and wide, Yet 'Nothing interesting is happening' His frustration grew 'What's the point of a worldwide perception if there's no apposite change to perceive?' 'The world has become mundane' 'And no one is doing anything about it' Ergo, The Archivist will take matters into his own hands 'I'll orchestrate a worldwide, All-embracing scheme against an oblivious individual' With a sinister smile on his face, he devised his plan 'Turn the entire world into a person's antagonist, Then enjoy the show' And he had the perfect plot for it 'First, Utter Despair that would cause immense Pain' 'Then, More Despair that would turn the Pain to Loathe' 'Then, As the Loathe grows, The Despair will transform into Rage' 'The Rage will make the Being Crave Revenge, and the intense Crave will result in Devotion to his goal' 'Finally, The Despair, Pain, Loathe, Crave, and Devotion will all be used as fuel for the Rage, Transforming it into an even extremer emotion' "WRATH" How would a single person unleash his Wrath against the entire world? 'That's what I'm going to find out' "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" The Archivist's maniacal laughter echoed loudly 'The world is about to be entertaining' He looked up and asked with a reverberating, Bleak voice "Who will be the unlucky one?"

Arno's Plan

Days passed and Leus didn't come out of the Barrier, the days became a week and the week became two, and Leus was still inside.

A little after two weeks have passed Blaze decided to visit Arno and check on Leus.

He was confident that Leus was okay, but Viorica was a bit worried and Blaze also had something on his mind.

'I need to have a conversation with Arno about Leus'

So in the morning, Blaze left the house and went to the Library.

As it was morning, Felix and Robert were standing at the door, they guarded the library from Dawn until noon.

Blaze was an Elite and had a military badge, no guards would stop him, he simply nodded to them as a greeting and they nodded back, and then he walked directly to Arno.

When Arno saw him coming he closed the book he was reading and looked at him

"Blaze .. It's been a while"

"Just a couple of weeks"

"Is there something you need?"

Blaze snickered

"Since when are you so friendly?"

"I'm not. I simply told Leus that I'd personally interfere if his family faces an emergency, so I'm keeping my word."

Blaze nodded

"Leus told me so, but relax, There's nothing. I came to check on Leus and talk with you"

Arno stood up

"Follow me"

Arno led Blaze to Leus' room and sat behind the desk

"Take a seat"

Blaze looked around the room, he inspected the barrier for a couple of seconds then looked at the Mana Crystals and was honestly impressed

"That's really ... Awe-inspiring"

For just a moment, Arno's demeanor changed

"I know right? All these Crystals are filled with Elite level mana!

I could've brought Knight Level but the higher the quality the quicker Leus would be able to comprehend the Abstracts."

Blaze went and sat in front of Arno

"So ... What are you going to get out of all this?"

Arno smirked

"A lot"

"Elaborate"

Arno spoke honestly

"Leus provides me with interesting data:

How the quality of his mana increases is interesting, and how he hasn't faced any bottleneck so far is even more interesting.

Also what he's capable of doing is fascinating to see.

Honestly, Leus fuels my thirst for knowledge, that's why I'm trying to provide him with everything that I yearned for when I was young, knowledge, spells, and resources. I want to see how far he can reach"

Arno took a pause then his smirk widened

"Also .... You know how much Leus is worth.

He has the potential to become a Royal Mage with multiple elements, all that you see here is only worth a fraction of what I'll gain after I'm done.

On top of all that, I do hope to be able to use Leus in some of my future schemes, all for the good of course."

Blaze felt irritated by Arno's smugness but he appreciated his honesty

Arno noticed Blaze's expression so he added

"Don't worry, I'll always tell Leus what I can tell him.

I'll also make sure he gets everything he wants as well, even you will benefit"

Blaze's interest was piqued

"What's your plan?"

"After he finishes comprehending the Abstracts, I'll send him to the Red Mansion.

He will need Ignatius' help to unlock his Vapour Skill."

Blaze's face slightly twisted in disgust

"Ignatius? You know how terrible they are, They only care about their gain"

"Hmm? It's ironic—you're an Inferno, yet your whole perspective on the Infernos centers around Ishaan.

You know, Ishaan is not truly malicious, just self-centered and prideful, but I assure you, when sacrifice is required, individuals like Ishaan are usually the first to volunteer.

Nonetheless, Ignatius is genuinely good.

Anyway, don't worry about all that. We just have to do it in a specific way, and I have a specific plan in mind."

"Ishaan will sacrifice huh, sounds like daydreams.

Anyway, what is your (specific way)?"

"Leave the scheming for me, Just be prepared for when Leus finishes his Elemental Abstracts, I estimate that it'll take around a year.

How old is Leus now?"

"He's about 5"

"It's still surprising when you hear it ... The kid is really special"

They both kept silent for a while, Then Blaze started talking about what he came here for

"I came here because I'm a bit worried about Leus"

Arno nodded in understanding

"Did he tell you about what he did?"

"Yeah .... He told you too?"

"Yes, with absolutely no remorse. He doesn't place any value on the lives he has taken."

Blaze became even more worried

"What should we do about it?"

Arno spoke in a profound tone

"What he did wasn't necessarily wrong; it was just overly excessive and unrestrained.

Given that he's still a child and hasn't learned to control his emotions, there's a chance he might become calmer and more pacifist as he grows older. Alternatively, this could be inherent to his personality and remain unchanged. Regardless, I advised him to establish a Moral Code and follow it.

Now, all that's left is to observe how things unfold."

Blaze nodded, Arno continued pointing at the barrier

"Luck was on our side, as you can see, he's surrounded by Light Mana now.

By the time he leaves his mental state will be much better than when he entered.

You know, Rich people use this method to cope with the deaths of their loved ones"

" ... Really? I never heard of that"

"You are not rich, Blaze."

Blaze wryly smiled and changed the subject

"When do you expect him to come out? It's been more than two weeks.

Usually, he comes back in around a week or 10 days."

Arno shrugged

"He has no sense of time; he'll leave whenever he chooses.

Perhaps another week? If he sleeps inside, it might even take more time, though he'll eventually feel hungry."

Blaze walked forward and stood in front of the barrier.

He couldn't see anything except a big white circle, the white light was so brilliant that seeing Leus was impossible.

'Such a dense mana concentration .. wow'

For a second, Blaze imagined himself learning a Fire Abstract inside a similar Barrier but quickly pushed that thought away.

'It took me years to come to terms with my bottleneck ... I won't go back to that now, Never again.'

Blaze finished his talk with Arno and left the library, he had a couple of things to do, and then he had to go home and tell Viorica about everything that he heard from Arno.

'When she hears that Arno has a plan for Leus to go to the Red Mansion ...'

Blaze faintly smiled and kept walking, his certainty that Leus' future was bright increased even more.

'The Oracle was right about something'
