Chapter 2: “End of Test and The City.”

After that merlin told shin to use other elements. He used lighting to create a beam of lighting. Wind to create a few tornados. Water to create a big wave in a crater he formed. He then used light from the sun to strike down into the whole with water burning all the water away.

"So… what do you think.. of my…" Shin then went quiet realising everyone else was shocked.

Melinda was too quiet for Vahns' liking especially after what she just saw. And then she wasn't quiet which Vahn expected. "Merlin!! You…!! Did you not teach this child restraint!!" She started chasing merlin around the place although she eventually caught up.

"Well, err, this is certainly catastrophic.." Diseum and the others didn't know what to say other than that.

"He was a really good learner, really grasped everything I taught him. So I thought why not? I wanted to see how far he could go." Merlin said while Melinda was shaking him so much his voice wasn't coming out right.

"'Why not' you thought! Get a grip! Vahn you aren't as bad as shin are you?" Melinda then came over to Vahn with a hopeful look on her face hoping He wasn't as weird as shin.

"W-well I-I'm not as s-strong as s-shin. B-but there is a m-magic I have b-been m-meaning to try out? I can s-show you it I-if you want?" Vahn asked. "I-it's a c-combanition of two s-spells. A-although I h-haven't u-used t-them b-before either."

Melinda gave vahn a smile that encouraged him. "If you believe you can do it, try, if you can't, that's ok."

"I-I'll t-try." Vahn said.

Everyone else stood back including Shin who was curious as to what he was going to do.

"Shin, do you know what spell he is going to use?" Melinda and Merlin asked at the same time. Shin and Vahn were brothers; it was only natural for them to think Shin knew what spell Vahn was going to use.

"No. Now that I think about it I haven't seen him use this training ground before maybe he found his own one?" Shin said.

That got them worried, if you mess up a spell it could hurt the user so they didn't want vahn to get hurt.

"Don't hurt yourself, okay?!" Melinda said to vahn. She was always the worrywort of the group.

Vahn turned around from his position and gave a nervous smile that didn't really decrease her nervousness, if that wasn't bad enough he opened his pocket dimension to take a book out and looked through the pages nodding a few times. Eventually he put it back.

Vahn put his hands out in front. He calmed his breathing. He then started. "Cursed technique lapse: blue." When he said this a blue ball of energy formed on his left although it looked unstable but it was stable enough for the technique. "Cursed technique reversal: red." This time a red ball formed on his right, the same as blue it looked unstable but it would be okay at least vahn hoped it would.

He then put a hand out in front of him with his palm facing upwards. The two balls started to combine turning purple, with purple lightning coming from where it was combining. "Hollow purple." The two balls connected and transformed into a giant ball of purple energy but you could feel the power from it. It started getting bigger and then went full speed forward destroying everything in its path.

It went past the mountain shin blew up before and then it blew up, creating a giant crater bigger than any of shins. Along the way it traveled it left a giant ravine.

Melinda was about to start scolding Vahn because he was just as ridiculous as Shin, but before she could he fell onto his knees.

Vahn was breathing heavily, barely conscious. He was struggling to stay awake but he couldn't help a little smile that made his way to his face. Although shin would probably make something even crazier after seeing that or copy him after he figured out how to do it, at least for now he beat him in power, although it took everything out of him.

Melinda ran over to him and held onto him. "You're just exhausted if you need to sleep, just do it now." Vahn hustled nodded not really knowing what she was saying but extremely tired. He fell asleep in Melindas arms.

After Melinda told everyone that you were okay they went back to talking with Siegfried carrying you because he lost a game of rock paper scissors to Christina.

Eventually Diseum speaks. "Hm… We can't just let them out to the world just yet. Such highly destructive magic… is on par with the gate teleportation magic. With this kind of power, even taking over the world is a possibility."

Christina speaks then. "In addition, they have also been trained in martial arts by sir Michael."

"Ah, one who is both trained in martial arts and possesses destructive magic…" Siegfried says while a sweat is going down his face realising that he is carrying one of the strongest people in the world on his back.

"I'm sure every country will do anything to have shin and vahn." Christina says.

While this was going on shin was just thinking. 'It's that big of a deal!' He didn't know that, although he didn't know a lot of things he thought his grandpa would say if he was so outside the norm that countries would be going after him and vahn.

Diseum thinks for a second before speaking. "Master merlin I have something to say to you."

"Hah… hah… can you first do something about this old lady?" Merlin asks tiredly from being shaken around so much.

"THIS IS YOUR FAULT!! I WOULDN'T BE WORKED UP IF YOU DIDN'T CAUSE THIS!!" Melinda shouts at merlin.

"Calm down, granny. It's not good for your health." Shin says clearly not seeing how angry his grandma is.

"YOUR NOT IN THE CLEAR EITHER!!" Melinda shouts at Shin and he backs away realising how angry she is.

After that Diseum goes on to explain what the country would do if they had shin and vahn on their side and what they would do to get it. "So why don't you enroll him in a magic school in my country.?"

Diseum then swears that he would not use vahn or shin for military purposes and that the magic school would help them out if they choose to enroll as he could not force them.

The talk continues with Merlin asking Shin what he thinks about this and Shin just says she doesn't mind as he would like to have some friends his age.

"Oh yeah speaking of influence and all.. uncle dis are you some sort of important person?" Shin asks.

"Oh I didn't tell you? My name is Diseum von earlshide. I am my country's, earlshide kingdom, very own king." Diseum announces with pride to shin.

Shin was shocked he was calling a king his uncle. "T-that means Chris-nee chan and sieg-niisan are…"

"I am one of the imperial knights, here as his majesty's escort." Christina announces.

Siegfried started talking then while struggling to keep vahn on his back. "As for me, I am a magician of the royal court. Also here as an escort."

Shin then started doubting that Sieg was who he said he was because of his personality and Christina says that Shin has a good eye. They were about to fight again when shin said they weren't that important. It is then revealed to Shin that Micheal used to be the general of the knights.

Diseum then goes to tell how he met Merlin and Melinda when they were fighting off the humanoid demon that they fought off, and said that they saved him.

After that shin says he didn't know his grandparents were in a party together and Christina says that they used to be married while now carrying vahn cause Siegfried couldn't.

*half a month later*

Vahn, Shin, Merlin and Melinda were now heading towards the capital. Shin was going to go to the magic school, if he passed the exams but he was told he was leagues ahead of the others so he would, and Vahn would be going as well because he couldn't really say no.

Vahn also started to experiment with more magic and increase his magic pool, he didn't really get far with either as he couldn't find the effort feeling that he would never surpass shin, he was even then merlin at this point there was no one that could beat him so what was the point of vahn even trying.

After Shin was done talking with their grandparents with Vahn not really paying attention, just sort of in his own world while staring out the window of the carriage. "Hey, I can see the capital!" Shin shouted.

This made vahn jump and shin say sorry but vahn managed to stutter out that it was okay.

"There's a lot of people." Shin pointed out the obvious.

"Oh… seems we have to queue for inspection." Merlin said, another person stating the obvious.

"Excuse me, could I see your identification papers?"

Melinda pulled out two cards. "Here."

The guard looked at it before his face became shocked. "I-I-it's the magi! It's master merlin! A-and guru Melinda too!"

Everyone then started looking around looking for them.

"It's such… such a big honor to meet you, master Merlin…!" The guard said.

"Sorry but I don't like causing commotions like this, so could you please let us through now?" Merlin asked.

"Yes! Of course! But may I ask. Who are these young masters here?" The guard asked.

Vahn didn't really mind being called a young master. It kinda sounded cool and made him feel important and Shin was confused as to why he was being called a young master.

"Shin and vahn wolford. Our grandsons." Merlin answered.

After that we went through the city making our way towards our new home in the capital.

When we got there I was surprised by how big it was and shin decided it was a good time to shout how big it was. "Huuuge! Is it ok if we stay here?!"

"What are you saying? This is our house to begin with."

"It is?!"

"It was given to me when I was still married to this old man."

When the doors of the house opened there was a bunch of people so Vahn stayed at the back of his group while Shin made his way to the front. "Welcome home!"

"Eh?! What the…?!"

"Looks like Diseum dispatched them here."

"This is why I hate this place."

Then the servants of the house introduced them selves.

"I am the head maid, marika."

"And I am the head butler, Steve."

"I'm the head chef, Cornell."

Shin then started speaking confusedly. "There's even a chef…?! What am I going to do at home the…?"

Please do not bother yourself with housework, master shin. Let all of us handle it." Marika said.

"M-Master shin?!"

"An honorific befitting for a grandson of the revered hero. That is how we will address you." Makira spoke.

"Y-Yeah, it's just that I'm used to doing that myself, so…" shin said as he didn't know what to do now.

Steve then decided it was a good time to speak. "We received a direct order from his majesty himself to serve you. We are honoured to serve this family of heroes. And you have my word that we will not treat you with disdain."

" ...Well, that's how it is." Merlin said just sort of used to this sort of thing.

"We will handle your luggage. Master shin, master vahn, why not sightsee for a while?"

After that vahn and shin went out into the city, they went their separate ways.

Vahn was just going around town, going down the back streets because there were fewer people.

When he eventually came back up to the Main Street he came across a bar, he had money, he never had a drink and he was curious so he thought 'why not?'.

He walked in kinda sticking out like a sore thumb as there were mostly adults, some of them looked at him but most just kept to themselves and went on with their conversations or food.

Vahn went up to the bar and took a seat on a stool. The bartender came up to him. "We don't serve drinks to kids." He said right away.

"I-I'm n-not a k-kid. I turned f-fifteen last month." Vah said while stuttering all the way.

The man had a smirk on his face. "Oh so you're here for your first beer or something?" Vahn nodded. "I see, well you came to the right place, we serve the best drinks here in the capital! Isn't that right boys!" A few customers laughed and agreed with him. "I'll get you something that I make for people when it's their first time drinking you just wait."

Vahn nodded while the man started to get his drink ready. A few of the customers were looking at them now entertained like something funny was going to happen.

Eventually the man came back with his drink. He put it in fornt him. "It's a good beer, strong and it tastes nice good for people getting their first beer. Now there's this challenge I do for first timers like yourself, you chug this down and every beer you order for yourself today will be free and I have to give one free round to the people here, so what do you say you accept?"

Now more people were paying attention and vahn accepted the challenge. The man laughed and pushed the drink in front of vahn. Vahn picked it up and started chugging it.

Most of the people in the bar were cheering for vahn and a few people who heard what was going on outside came inside in case the kid did it and they would get a free drink.

Vahn kept chugging it, and he was getting drunk by the second, apparently he couldn't hold his beer well but it would be enough for him to get this drink down.

Eventually it was empty and he held it up and let out a gasp. Everyone started cheering and the man at the bar looked a little annoyed though mostly happy.

The drink was nice and had a nice flavour and made him feel warm, but that didn't matter. The people in the bar got their free beers and Vahn got his second one.

*a few hours later*

Shin, Merlin and Melinda were in the living room with Shin telling them what he did during the day including the girls he met. It was only after a while did Melinda notice that vahn wasn't here yet even though it was getting late.

"Shin where is vahn?"

"Hmm, vahn? We split up when we got to town I don't know." Shin answered and now that he noticed it was getting late, maybe vahn got lost.

Melinda let out a sigh. "Shin go out and get your brother, I'll get stuff ready." With that she left.

Shin was confused, what did she mean get stuff ready? "Okay." Shin was getting up when he saw his grandpas face go from confused, realisation to one about to burst out laughing.

"If he really is there he is so much Trouble tomorrow." Merlin left as well to go where Melinda was.

Shin was left even more confused but left to go find vahn, he used search magic to find and walked in that direction.

Shin could feel vahns magic in the city so he didn't leave so maybe he really did get lost?

Eventually he came near where his brother's magic was and he could hear music and cheering in the distance.

He walked a bit further till he got to a bar where the music, cheering… and where his brother's magic was. "Oh boy." Shin now realised why his grandpa was like that.

He walked in to see his brother at the bar talking to some girl. His brother was clearly drunk, his face having been red from the beer.

He went up to his brother and tapped him on the shoulder, and Vahn turned around and looked at Shin with narrowed eyes, trying to see if it really was him. "Shin! I didn't know you were coming! Sit down I'll get you a drink, everything I order is free for today! Shika this is my brother shin!" Vahn was all smiles speaking loudly over the music.

Shin could smell the beer coming off of him. "Vahn were going home buddy." Shin pulled vahn off of his seat since he obviously wouldn't be able to stand, how he was able to put a sentence together was a miracle. "It was nice meeting you… shika?" Shin said unsure of what to say.

Shika just let out an annoyed sigh and left shaking her head.

"Ooo, why did you chase her away? We got along so well she was even telling me that she would make.. me.. feel.. good.. or something like that like, what's that even supposed to mean?! She's gonna give me a massage!" Vahn said while shin was pulling him out the door. "Goodbye kyou! See you soon!" Vahn said, shouting to the bartender while waving the bartender laughed while waving.

Shin kept pulling vahn walking through the streets, it was embarrassing to be seen with a drunk brother and vahn was leaning on him so he wouldn't fall over. "Why did you go in there?"

Vahn looked at him like he was an idiot with his eyes squinted. "I wanted to see what it was like obviously!"

Shin just sighed and started dragging him.

Eventually they reached home and vahn complained a lot along the way, mostly about shika wondering what she would have done if he didn't 'scare' her away as vahn had said.

Most of the maids and butlers although found it amusing that on the first day of being here one of the young masters got drunk, it wasn't hard to tell because of the loudness of his voice, the blush on his face and most obviously the smell of beer off him.

Two of them offered to help with it and shin thanked them while he went to find his grandparents.

He found them back in the living room. Melinda had a pissed off look on her face, she thought vahn was the more responsible one for the brothers clearly not, and Merlin was trying not to laugh. He could hear vahn from here and it was funny to hear him.

"Um, I found him." Shin said and then sighed and sat down.

"Oh yeah I didn't notice." Melinda said with sarcasm on her every word, it was obvious she noticed he could hear him complaining as the maid put him in his room.

"So s-shin where- pfft- s-sorry where did you find him?" Merlin asked, trying and failing to keep his laugh.

"You know damn well where he found him merlin, I can smell the beer off of shin, for crying out loud." Melinda said with a sigh, although she was annoyed vahn was technically an adult so he could do what he wanted. "So how bad is it, shin?"

"What do you mean how bad?"

She sighed. "Was he able to walk straight?" He shook his head. "Squinty eyes?" He nodded. "Slurred words?"

"Kind of."

She sighed again. "Well he can do what he wants but why did he have to do it today? The entrance exam is tomorrow for crying out loud."
