The Angelic System That Turned My Life Into Hell

[Enter Loogam or you will die.] “Huh?” For the 15-year-old Mika Elbar it was a day like any other. He casually spent his time strolling around the village. Mika was neither ambitious nor did he have a dream. Unlike the others in his age, he wasn’t really interested in adventures or subjugating monsters and demons to become a hero. It was enough for him to live his life peacefully with his family in the village. However, things didn’t go as planned. A voice in his head suddenly threatened him to enter the world’s most renowned magic academy, Loogam. The academy was known for producing the best mages, knights, adventures and even heroes. It goes without saying that whoever graduates from that academy will be swimming in fame and wealth. Thus, reluctantly, Mika decided to try to enter Loogam with no hopes of getting accepted. After all, his magic was below average and he didn’t even possess one of the world’s 66 mythic relics. Instead, he only had the guidance of a strange voice in his head and a rusty sword on his hip. But will that be enough to survive in the magic academy Loogam? In the world of Lorw, where dangerous and powerful monsters constantly threat the peace? --------------------------------------------------------- Cover by Gakusei Muto (Instagram: @gakusei.muto)

The First Day

Three days passed since the exams ended.

It was now the first day of the week and the first day of a new month.

At the same time, it was also the first day at the academy for the new students.

Mika, who was still in the room of the inn he stayed in, looked in the mirror.

"To be honest, as the most prestigious academy in the world I thought that the uniforms would be… How should I say? More elegantly looking?" Mika remarked skeptical as he eyed the uniform he just tried on.

The day after the exam, the examinees came to the academy to get their class assignments, but the instructors only gave them their uniforms and told them to wear those on the first day of the week.

[Don't be so picky. At least you got accepted.]

"That's true, but…"

Mika still had doubts about his uniform.

The military-looking uniform and the short robe he received were mainly pitch-black with a small percentage being grey.

"This way I resemble someone from a criminal syndicate…"

[Whatever. You should rather hurry up or else you will be late.]

"Yeah, yeah…"

Dispirited, he packed his things and checked out of the inn.

It will not be necessary for him anymore to stay there. After all, the academy provided every student of the academy with dorm rooms.

When Mika walked to the academy, he noticed other people with the same uniform.

However, while there were some in black like Mika, there were also those who wore silver and red uniforms.

He also spotted one or two in white ones.

Not pondering about it any deeper, he moved forward.

After he passed through the academy's gates and handed his belongings over to the dorm staff stationed there, he saw people his age orderly forming lines.

"Uwah… Is this the military or the magic academy?" Mika said frightened off by this sight.

Although their postures and the way they lined up emitted a serious atmosphere, they were still whispering and chatting amongst themselves.

Mika got behind a random person and copied their postures.

His body straightened up, he puffed his chest out and put his hands behind his back as he stared to the front.

[You can relax for now. The clock did not strike 10 yet.]

Mika heaved a heavy sigh.

Using the remaining free time, he paid attention to his surroundings.

Currently, there were more than 200 people present.

Mika recognized most of those people due to them passing the first exam thanks to him. Amongst them, only a small amount of people wore a silver or a red uniform whereas the majority wore a black uniform.

He also noticed that black was the most presented uniform here. After black, silver, was the most spread, then red and last but not least white. But only a handful of people wore a white uniform with a golden robe like Ophelia.

"Hm?"

As his eyes wandered around, he sighted Lily in the front rows.

With a beaming smile on her face, she innocently waved her hands at him.

Too embarrassed to wave back, Mika only wryly smiled back.

[It's time.]

At that moment, one of the people at the front clapped his hands so loud that even those in the back could hear it.

"Good morning, everyone! My name is Erwin Linster and due to the headmaster not being present today, I was given the honor to hold today's speech!" Erwin said firmly with a stern gaze.

"First of all, let me congratulate you all for passing the entrance exams and getting officially accepted into our prestigious academy!"

Everyone was immersed in Erwin's speech, but Mika received a notification from the system which he could not ignore.

His eyes widened after he read the text that appeared in front of him.

[Congratulations, now you officially cleared the quest.]

Even though it was congratulating him, the system sounded as emotionless as ever.

It was about the quest that drove Mika to take the exams to get accepted into the academy.

He grinned nervously.

On the one hand, he was happy that he escaped an early death, but on the other hand, he was even happier to get such a unique reward.

The right to change something in the contract he made with the system.

But before Mika could even put his desire into a sentence, he was cut off.

[You cannot change anything concerning the time restriction.]

"…"

His eyes twitched as his number one wish got flat-out rejected.

"How-"

[Your magic restriction will not be lifted.]

"…"

His shoulders slumped down with his head hanging low.

[Here is a suggestion: Wish for your body restrictions to be lifted.]

"Rather than a suggestion, that's the only thing left that I can still change in the contract…" he pouted in silence.

"But fine, let's go with that…" he added with a sigh.

[As you wish.]

Nothing happened nor did Mika feel anything strange in his body.

"Are you done now?" he whispered.

[Yes. Your physical abilities will not be sealed any further meaning that you are physically as strong as when you unseal that sword.]

"I see…"

He heaved another sigh.

His disappointment was immeasurable.

For the first time, he had his hopes up thinking that he could finally lift one of the heavy restrictions on him, but those hopes shattered a few moments ago.

Getting his physical abilities back was better than nothing, but Mika was still disappointed.

To survive in today's society, it was far more important to have a high magic rank or a good relic.

[Pay attention to your surroundings.]

"?"

As he looked up, he noticed everyone leaving the place and walked in the direction of the academy. Furthermore, the crowd was split up into four groups according to their uniform color.

"Wait, did I just miss out on the entire speech?!"

Adapting to the situation, Mika just blindly followed the black group.

In those groups, they entered the academy.

Everyone was stunned by the academy's inner building, but Mika was an exception as it was not his first time.

"Follow me." Someone with a familiar voice said.

Thus, the entire black group got separated from the other groups and followed the person at the front.

Last time, Mika and Ophelia went to the windows at the end of the hallway, however this time, they turned to the left midway.

The group stopped in front of someone's painting.

Mika could not see well because he stood on the backs of the huge group.

The only thing he could see was a portal opening itself.

Then, one after another entered the portal and vanished.

After he entered the portal, he ended up in an auditorium-like room that could fit roughly the number of people that were currently present.

It resembled the hallways with the golden chandelier and a red carpet covering the floor and steps.

In the beginning, it slipped his mind, but he noticed that the walls inside the academy had a rather dark tone making the atmosphere in the building quite sinister, which was contradicting from what Mika heard about educational facilities.

"Take a seat."

Following those words, everyone obediently took a seat.

As the last one to get out of the portal, Mika could not choose a place to sit down, so he had to accept a seat in the front row.

He did not look at the person at the front, who was busy with writing something down on the chalkboard and took a seat.

It was the seat right in front of the teacher.

Thus, it was impossible to not notice the teacher's appearance.

Mika's eyes widened.

He was surprised and frightened off.

He saw that person's back too many times to forget it so easily.

"Let me welcome you in the black classroom. My name is…"

With his hand covering his face, Mika accepted his fate.

"Why do I have such bad luck in the past days…" he muttered as if he was crying.

The woman at the front looked right at Mika with a sinister grin.

"…Ophelia Ross and I'm your teacher!"
