"And if my response remains the same?" Solan asked cautiously.

"Nothing happens."

Solan clenched his jaw, indecisive. It wasn't that he didn't trust Kahler's word but that he would have a hard time facing his older brother after belatedly turning down the chance to save Velia.

"My response remains the same." He gritted out, finally giving his answer.

There was a terse silence for a handful of seconds, Kahler breaking the impasse by chuckling, gray eyes amused. "You will return to work at the factory?"

Solan huffed out a breath when that was all that happened, his shoulders dropping in relief. "Yes."

"Then this will be the last time I make this request of you." He said, his tone dismissive.

Solan couldn't believe how easy he was getting off, he said nothing further, about to express his thanks and quickly leave the Royal Mount.
