The Alpha On Campus

Everyone has that one person who makes them uncomfortable. That guy when he walks in a room you can feel the energy shift. A constant string of different girls under his arm, never really caring about much of anyone but himself. Two years I spent avoiding him, making sure he never knew I even existed. Even though we’re apart of the pack, a few families like mine weren’t able to talk to our wolves. Not ranking in a society built on levels can really take it out of you, so being in the same room as them is nevertheless difficult.. Who knew that all of that avoiding would eventually bring me here to this moment. Striding towards me was that same guy, dripping blood on the floor as he walked. "Mate.." he said sliding out the chair on the other side of the table plopping down into it. His face had splattered blood all across it, causing his piercing emerald eyes to shine bright against the red. I wanted to run.

A shift in power

I stared back at him dumbfounded, I could feel my jaw drop.

"See I knew it, he is amazing!" Fallon cooed in my mind. How could she be saying this, he clearly had just returned from killing people. "Not people, rouges he said." Fallon argued. His smile faded and his faced dropped back to the one I had known as he pulled away to address a few guards on where the bodies were and to the one he had brought to the cells. I closed my mouth and started to get up slowly to not attract his attention. I was turning to run when a low powerful growl let out of him.

"Not again little mate." he said his alpha essence taking over me holding me in my place. Not even looking back to me he continued commanding the warriors from his seat.

I turned back around looking around the room for help. The Luna had a great big grin on her face, with a confused Alpha next to her. My mom was beaming looking back and forth from me and the Luna. It was almost as some dream had finally been fulfilled for her. James was already taken out of the room when Finn entered to spare him any more of the gore. Stuck I finally turned to look at him, his shirt was torn probably from only half way shifting, I could see the large muscles on his arms covered in little red spots. Blood covered his hair causing it to stick to his head even darker than his normal black hair. I felt odd looking at him like this. Fallon how ever was enjoying every minute.

"I..I would.. I would like to go please." I managed to whisper out hoping he would not hurt any one here. He looked at me confused, almost like it hurt him to hear this. I took in his face covered in blood once again before I looked away, the fear slowly setting in as it always had before. He definitely noticed the change because his head dropped to look at his clothes, realizing exactly what I was seeing. Was this normal for him? I shuddered at the thought he kills on a regular basis.

"You may go... but no more hiding, it gets on my nerves." he said sharply.

I looked to my parents and back to the leaders of our pack. I bowed my head politely and turned to leave. I almost made it to the front door before I was side lined by an excited James.

"Leaving already?" he said his eyes starting to well up with tears. Patting his head I nodded.

"I've got a bunch of studying to do kiddo, I promise I'll see you soon." I said as he straightened up and reached into his jean's back pocket grabbing a piece of paper.

"Here I found this, I thought she looked like you. But shhhh Finny can't know." he brought his tiny pointer finger up to his lips like a librarian. I couldn't help but laugh taking the small folded paper, mimicking his stance. Satisfied he waved goodbye and ran up the stairs, I guess to his room or play room.

Shortly after my mom and father joined me in the front room ready to head back home. The ride was silent, no one really knew how to start the conversation. I surely wasn't about to start it. I could feel Fallon happy in my mind replaying the quick smile he had given us. How could she just block out the remainder of the scene that unfolded. I could still smell the sour coppery blood in my nose even here in the car. I curled my hands to my chest trying to stop my heart from beating out of it.

"So Finn huh?" Mom said she spoke softly and full of love, "are you okay sweetie?" she turned back to look at me assessing my face, trying to see if I was alright like only she could do.

"I don't know, he has always scared me." I looked out the window into the trees as they passed.

My mom didn't press any further but faced front and stared out the window too. I left the house earlier with so much confidence only to be left standing still when finally faced with him. I put my head on the window feeling the cool glass on my temple. What a day, why did the Moon Goddess choose him of all people. Fallon felt restless almost like she was pacing in my mind.

"I want to run. Can we?" she whimpered, and my heart broke to hear the sound.

"If we can shift.." I said warily knowing how painful the first time can be especially at such an old age.

"We can shift, trust me." she said confidently then finally calmed down knowing she was about to run for the first time. Just in time for us to pull up to our small cottage style house. Lucky for me we lived near one of the forests here on the lands, so the trees sprawled out just behind the house's yard.

"Mom, I think I want.. no we want to run tonight." I said with Fallon agreeing happily in my head. She looked shocked and nervous but so very proud in that moment.

"Okay honey, I'll come with you. But first we need to hang this dress up. Serena got it for you as a present." she said as she slid the key into the lock.

My dad just looked at me concerned but I could see how proud he was. He had always been a man of few words, talking was Moms thing any ways. I followed them in and went straight to my room to get changed. Fallon was growing in excitement with every passing second. I threw on some pj shorts and a baggy shirt and ran back downstairs and out back. Mom was waiting for me on the small swing near the edge of the yard swinging slightly. She smiled looking up from her book.

"You ready?" she asked standing up walking to the small gate and opening it.

"I was born ready!" We laughed as we walked to the tree line slightly disappearing in its shadow. I quickly ran behind a giant tree trying to find cover to take off my pj's. I removed them nervously waiting for the pain of the shift to come.

"We got this." Fallon said confidently. I could feel her bubbling at the thought of finally being able to stretch her legs. I slowly stepped out shyly looking over to my mom who knowingly was already turned around. I concentrated on the shift, breathing evenly waiting for the pain to start. But it never did. I could feel my body changing forming to that of Fallon. It felt so natural almost like finally getting that itch in the center of your back. After my final even breath in, out came Fallon's first howl.

It was loud and I could feel the power resonating in it. My mom turned around to look at me her eyes growing wide. It almost looked like she feared us for a moment, but that didn't last long. She walked over to us petting Fallon's snout.

"Your beautiful my darling." she shed a couple tears before continuing," be safe my love and I'll leave your set of clothes at the tree line." she patted our head and headed back to the gate after gathering my clothes.

"You ready?" Fallon asked excitedly sniffing the air.

"You kno..." I was cut short by another howl in the distance. The sound of it as like music to our ears.

"Mate.." was all Fallon said before heading into the forest at speeds I never imagined we would be capable of. She stopped at a river seeming annoyed by it. I caught a glimpse of us in the water. We stood tall, taller than most other she-wolves. Auburn fur pointing out in every direction with sharp golden eyes staring right back. "I lost him." Fallon sighed taking us back through the forest stopping to smell everything on the way back, rubbing against some trees marking that this area was hers. When we got back home I shifted back easier than I had the first time, quickly getting dressed in hopes no one saw me. Shifting took it out of me, even though it didn't hurt like others have described I was still tiered physically.

I came in through the back door already dressed and was ready to go up to bed when I heard another howl rip through the air but it was not the young alpha Finn's. I had this nervous feeling creeping into my chest. There are other wolves, its probably someone joining in on the fun. I tried to reason to myself as I continued up the stairs to my room. I could feel Fallon on full alert, but probably just from the run I reasoned again. Even though I was anxious a sweet dreamless sleep engulfed me shortly after.

I woke up feeling amazing, the stress of yesterday finally rolling off of me. I got up and ready for my classes feeling the same confidence as yesterday. I put on my favorite white sweater and leggings combination on then headed to the kitchen too see what my mom had made. She had a bowl of fresh fruit cut up mixing it together.

"Good Morning sweetie, how did you sleep?" my mom said looking up smiling at me, her light brown eyes shining with pride.

"Better than ever!" I said, taking the bowl of fruit salad she slid over to me. I quickly ate my breakfast and actually felt relaxed about heading to school, Fallon was excited to see him. I guess that its starting to rub off on me, the mate bond could do that to you. She jumped around in agreeance. I thanked my mom and told my parents I loved them as I set out for another day at school.

Monday's are my least favorite, for some reason people always seemed more frantic on Mondays. The parking lot was a flurry of cars coming and going, it was difficult to find a parking spot. When I finally did I was parked all the way in the back. I grabbed my bag and rushed to the spot I normally meet Val. Ash was the smart one and didn't have Monday classes. When I got close I seen her face light up as she saw me rushing.

"Hey girl!" she squeaked looking me up and down. "something is new again?" she brought her pointer up to her temple making thoughtful look.

"I finally shifted!" I squealed and so did she. We both walked to class, I told her about the dinner and how he had came through the door. Chatting as we slowly reached her building.

"I'll text you when I'm done in class so we can go grab a coffee and continue this." she said turning and waving goodbye.

I kept walking along happy from our conversation even though I would be a couple minutes late for my class before I smelt it. A rouge. The smell of death and decay making my stomach turn. Fallon perked up causing all of my senses to heighten including my sense of smell. My stomach flipped again as I realized the smell was getting closer to me. I checked to see if there was any where to hide but there wasn't any time to reach any of the spots.

He rounded the corner of the building, his eyes scanned the area until falling on me frozen with fear. A creepy cold smile spread across his face as he looked me up and down.

"My, my what a delicious little she wolf." he said licking his lips.

"You don't belong here." Fallon said to him coming to the front taking almost full control. The power behind it shook both me and the rouge.

He jumped at me causing me to scream and take off running. Fallon's strength flowing through me propelling me forward. I decided to lead him away from the school, there was no reason for any one else to get hurt. I ran as fast as I could towards the forest that was behind the school. I was almost there when a blood curdling growl ripped through the air.

I threw a look over my shoulder to see Finn barreling towards us. The rouge took one look at him and turned around to face him. I stopped and watched as they went at it. The rouge looked like he was fighting with all of his might, where as Finn looked like he was toying with him. There was a wide smile on his face as he dodged the attacks laughing at the movements of his enemy. This annoyed the rouge causing him to growl and attack Finn heading straight for his throat. Fallon and I whimpered and took off back towards the fight.

Just as I approached Finn had the rouge by the throat. Laughing at him struggling further, he finally composed himself, his face becoming cold and deadly.

"Who sent you?" Finn said loosening his hold to allow him to speak.

"You'll never know. And your little Luna over there is dead meat Young Alpha." he started laughing like a maniac.

As he said the last words Finn ripped his throat out still smiling as the blood sprayed out from him covering me. The rouges lifeless body fell to the ground between us. It smelt like he had been dead for weeks, I gagged at the smell stepping back from the limp body in front of me. My mind was racing trying to comprehend what had just happened. He just killed him right, just like that. With a smile on his face. I stared at him in disbelief trying to keep my mouth from hanging open and allowing the rancid blood into my mouth.

"You're fine relax." He said coldly bending down to wipe the blood on his hand on the rouges clothes.

"You.. You killed him." my voice shook as I looked at him wondering how he could be my mate he was such a brute.

"He protected you." Fallon said anger apparent in her voice.

"Its a kill or kill be world mate. Learn that fast and life will be easier." he said turning to the schools security already on their way over.

I looked down to my favorite outfit covered in blood. I'll never be able to get these stains out. So instead I turned back to the woods and kept walking. I could hear him yelling behind me in his alpha tone but I kept walking. When I finally reached the tree line I breathed evenly letting Fallon take over. This time we shifted faster than ever before leaving my clothes in shreds behind me as we took off running.
