Chapter 8: What Just Happened

Fully aware that Bennett Orloff, her gorgeous next-door neighbor was not to be ignored. Stella willed her firmly rooted, terrified feet to move.

She took one tentative step backwards. Feeling along the edge of sidewalk with her heel. She pivoted to make her retreat.

With a small battle raging all around her. Getting back home was more important than ever.

She wasn’t going to dwell on the details. Not yet. She wasn’t going to freak out about the man next door with the steely blue eyes that made her heart race and her tongue tie itself up in knots every time he was near, had just turned into a larger-than-life hairy monster. Right before her eyes.

Stella had one foot firmly planted on the sidewalk, ready start running towards home when a shimmer of sunlight caught her eye.
